I love when you dedicate a very specific face balancing topic such as this to a whole video!! This is the information I’m craving!!! Please make more :)
Great information Jenn! I love when you show side by side images of a woman’s actual features with a photoshopped version next to it to prove your point. I’m a visual learner so this, along with your very clear descriptions, helps me understand. ❤
This is such a helpful discussion!! I was a teen in the late seventies, and back then the advice you got was not to alter the top line, ever. If you ask me, this led a lot of girls to create that comma shape in their brows, and stick to it forever, without realizing they had the freedom to do as they pleased. Love the way we can use makeup now to create whatever look we want in the moment. Following a trend or your own inspiration is equally valid now. Seems much healthier, and way more flexible.
my brows are really thick and super arched naturally, I have been shaping them to be straighter because I didn't like the drama, it took from my cute soft nose and lips and focal point was eyes. I lighten them too which makes them more subtle. I much prefer it even though my natural eyebrows in a vacuum are "desireable" being thick and arched
I'd love a video about low set eyebrows one day! 🥺 Like how to make the face appear softer with them since there is not much you can do with that placement :(
My eyes are close together. So despite having a short and round face, flat long straight eyebrows look so much better on me, because of my eye distance.
I have this same struggle too. I like arched brows better on me though so I try to make them somewhere in between straight and arched to take up more space on my face it’s challenging lol
For me, with close set hooded eyes and I think a longer face, I kind of feel like I should go for straight elongated eyebrows. But I have a natural arch, and I lose some of the personality in my face without the arch. Then on top of it, I look kind of crazy if my brow tails aren’t somewhat angled down. So I’ve ended up going for a wide set, full but light, subtly arched brow. It takes a variety of factors to pick the right brow 😭
I had no idea you could choose 😅. But this also explains why I wasn't aware that I had hooded, down turned eyes until some kid in a makeup counter told me😂
This is a great topic and I was waiting for you to cover it in such detail! :) Would you consider doing a serie of how to improve your eyebrows shape to best align with your eyes and rest of face features? For example, I have droopy eyes, but naturally quite arched, and I've been forever trying -unsuccessfully, to shape them a little straighter and upwards, but just cannot do it!
I get my eyebrows tinted and shaped. I love the effect of it because my natural brows had sort of disappeared with age. It's a really good tool to counteract aging, gaining that definition. Lots of great ideas about shaping them. Thanks Jen.
For some reason this is so easy to understand and SEE yet so easy to forget/look past. I alternate my brows from being more straight with a softer more rounded and less pronounced arch to more sharp and angled upwards. I also already had straight and angled upwards once and really liked it but it's too much upkeep for my day to day life and personal liking. I can't say that I liked one more than the other, I feel like it depends on what I want in that moment. My eyes are upturned, outer corners of the lips are upturned, my entire face is more angled "upwards" than "downwards", but it can be perceived slightly wide depending on the hairstyle I am currently wearing. Maybe that's what always influenced my wish to slightly change the brow shape. But I also went through different phases of what I wanted to look like. Sometimes I wanted to look more soft, approachable and girly, so I did opt for slightly thicker, straighter brows without much of an angle to them, but sometimes I do wanna look more sharp and mature. My brows do grow back pretty fast so it's quite easy to shift the shape for me. My brow bones are more pronounced than yours, but not so much that it interferes with the brow shapes I like on myself. (I also usually use the brow bones as a guide to how "far" I can shift the shape tbh.) At the moment I wear my brows more arched and upturned. One downside to this? RBF can happen quite easily imho xD I don't look particularly mean at all, but if I just totally relax my face, I can look somewhat mean and angry. But that's also the case with any other brow shape, it's just a bit more enhanced with arched and upturned brows. But also that "sceptical" one brow raised one relaxed expression has ten times more of an impact with that brow shape. I do think straight and horizontal brows can easily look a bit heavy on certain faces, especially if there isn't a lot of space between lashline and brows. I've seen many beautiful actresses change their brow shape from sharp and slim to straight and "bushy" and they did suddenly look very tired and aged. For them the effect of creating a youthful look didn't work out very well. So I am glad you explain this so in depth that young people CAN understand the impact and then actually decide what they like better. Because let's be real, it's always easier to understand the proportions of someone else's face rather than that of our own.
I've tried both shapes. I also plucked my eyebrows into near oblivion as a youth. Current shape: Medium thickness, soft arch, subtle "wing" toward the outer end. It works.
Your videos are always so informative and straightforward. I appreciate you. I saw a few others asking and I second this, may we have a video going into more depth on eyebrow vs eye shape please? Thank you, Jenn. 🩵
This is SO HELPFUL. I just realized exactly why my brows don’t suit me. I have a wider face, and a heavier brow area, and my straight brows make that more pronounced.
My eyebrows are translucent and I’m a natural strawberry blonde, no one ever talks about how to make them look natural. Please consider doing a tutorial on this.
I don't know but asian eyes looks unnatural with arch😂 and don't look good with heavy smoky makeup.... most asian with small eyes looks bad on heavy makeup the opposite of indian/arab/ eyes

I’m happy you enjoyed it! 😁
I support that comment! You’re doing great work
Plus one haha

I’m glad to hear that the visuals help! 🫶

The makeup you have right now w/ the soft brows looks the most balanced and beautiful to me!

I love your softer lighter looking eyebrows. I've been playing around with doing the same with mine, jury's still out though!

You are so good at explaining these things ❤️❤️
I'm so glad you found it helpful! 💕
Excellent! Brows are so important and this was helpful in clearing up some confusion I had.
I just discoverd this channel yesterday and it is such a relief to listen to a person with a diverse opinion of womem of different races❤
Welcome! 💕
I love this shade of red-tinged dark hair on you! Youre the few people that can pull off unfilled brows!!
I had no idea you could choose 😅. But this also explains why I wasn't aware that I had hooded, down turned eyes until some kid in a makeup counter told me😂

this was so helpful, thank you for including so many photo examples
👁 This video was amazing, just like all your videos. Thank you.
Aw thank you! 💕
Love your examples too. Great video. Since you’ve brought up this topic I’ve been making a small tweak to my eye brows and like it.

So true - it’s always tricky to be objective about our own faces!

You are unique!! Many greetings from Greece 🇬🇷 ❤️
Your videos help me so!!
Aw thank you! 💕
This was so informative Jenn thank you ❤
Love love love this channel ❤
Please make a video on low and highest brows
Thank you so much for this video! This is something I have struggled with for a long time so this really helped😊
Jenn, you look so pretty! 🥺✨
Aw thank you so much!! 😍🙈
This is SO HELPFUL. I just realized exactly why my brows don’t suit me. I have a wider face, and a heavier brow area, and my straight brows make that more pronounced.
Great info!! ❤ I've always arched my brows and now I'm growing them out to see whether horizontal will look better on me
Literally same
I have a long middle third on a short, triangle face-such a challenge to balance my face! I’m going to try the Taraji P. Henson angle and shape!!
I think straight can look great on many people. Just like arched brows can look amazing or real bad.
What if you have "fleshy" (it makes me look young) oval face, long philtrum and hooded eyes? I'm not completely sure what eyebrow style is best...
I think darker brows suit you more. You need the contrast. Otherwise it looks like something’s missing
You’re the best!!! Thank you 💕
My eyebrows are translucent and I’m a natural strawberry blonde, no one ever talks about how to make them look natural. Please consider doing a tutorial on this.
Great video! Also, I think your confusion Eva Mendes with Eva Longoria 😊
this was a NEED thank you!!
You are the best ❤️
very interesting! thank you! 🤩
Glad you liked it!
Hey! I have a little question, what makes your eyes appear bigger, the eyebrows close to the eyes or far from the eyes? Thank you!
My arched eyebrows and nice eyelashes are probably the most feminine features of my face!
How do you get your eyebrows to grow so you can shape them properly?
I have a round square face , which eyebrow will help my face appear longer?
One of these days, if I watch enough Style Refinement videos, I'm going to become beautiful.
❤❤
❤
Just stick to the shape you were born with.
People can do what they want but that’s how I feel too! It’s so easy for things to go wrong if you mess with them
true
I don't know but asian eyes looks unnatural with arch😂 and don't look good with heavy smoky makeup....
most asian with small eyes looks bad on heavy makeup
the opposite of indian/arab/ eyes
It seems like you had your lips done. I’m disappointed and irritated with this trend… 🥺
