I personally never saw no. 9 as the final boss - more a symptom or a single arm of the disease that is the increasingly powerful Kaiju spawning out of the earths core. We still have to get to the source of what’s all under those fault lines and I can see a good amount of character growth and potential for the main members of our squads, let alone the Kafka/Mina stuff so I don’t think we’re in the end game yet. Maybe 2/3rds through and on track for a total length akin to a JJK…? But that’s just my guess - appreciate the vid! One of my favorite manga to read, the artwork and pacing is phenomenal imo and the characters are lovable to boot. Highly underrated for a fun, visually stunning read

Dikiju, and when the M.E.D was almost defeated #9 absorbed the M.E.D and killed his host along with many other warriors, then #9 disappeared to learn to control the power. #8 on the other hand was went host to host (probably animals or other Kiju) getting stronger until he could find someone with the right body to fuse with

I agree, I don't think we're anywhere near the end just yet, maybe a bit over half at most. Between the way they're just now starting to reveal plot info about Kafka's Kaiju parasite and how it feels like they're setting up for bigger enemies down the road... it seems like there's still a lot of plot to go.
Nobody is still pointing out how the Kaiju who took over Kafka’s body said when it seen Kafka saying “I Founf You” is the a reference to Kafka linage being connected to the Kaiju and that’s why he Kafka was able to control that form to an extent or what ? Why am I the only one Stuvk on that line

Also I don't think number 8 loves humanity, to me it seems that kaiju has a vendeta against other kaiju so his joining with the human side might have stemmed from that deep hate for other kaiju in general. For one I would like to dive deep into 8's backstory and maybe that could be a way for Kafka to start building his union with it more.
I agree with alot of others that was are gonna have a Pacific Rim esq thing happen, K8 and K9 were either the first human-like Kaiju or were the first human-like to come to the surface, now that K9 is on the way out, I wouldnt be surprised if we get a Espada style scene with other Human-like Kaiju sitting around a table saying something like "Well it looks like K9 failed, who should head topside next?"
Kaiju has a chance right now as the end of chapter 113 to stretch it out over another 100 chapters by not concluding the fight with the big bad and diving into backstory so I don’t think it’s anywhere near over. In fact I think we dive into the history of both back sides. Good side ends up getting away the side we grew with gets stronger all kaiju weps that came out over the last 25 chapters trains and gets stronger and we end up loosing key players in the final battle and then it becomes a wrap because as it sits with season 1 of the anime almost a half mark from what there is now. They won’t finish this manga in 2 seasons of an anime. And stretch it over 200 chapters and becomes a 4/5 season anime.
My assumption is based on the way kefka looks like an oni is that all the dead hunters somehow merged into kaiju no8 and all of their hate and resentment towards no9 and all kaiju is what makes it so hostile towards kaiju. It never reacts that way to normal people only people that wear and utilize daikiju does it react with hostility towards humans. The main question is why and how did it come into existence and why is it tied to no9.
I do not get the feeling this is near the end. Kaiju No. 9 seems more of a first boss then the final boss. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't there a scene of him talking to some kind of higher up on the phone?
I think you got it right on the head. That samurai HAS to be the first "wielder" of #8 I also think that #9 and #8 are the original 2 Kaiju. Kind of like a yin and yang of each other. My reasoning is because the Kaiju appeared in that time period and, in the flashback, #9 is a child still trying to figure things out by the looks of it.

This manga has been terrific and i don't want it to end. This last arc has felt very, i'm not sure rushed or short is the right word? The chapters have felt lacking any real substance. Granted, they were focusing on a fight, but it almost seems like the author was anxious to reach the end of it.

I don’t think it’s ending soon. I think we’re at the midway point comparable to the midway point in AOT where a time skip occurred. Not sure if it’s gonna be a time skip exactly but it seems like the whole scope of what the defense force understands about kaiju is about to drastically change.
