Hey there - okay i have to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I'm a graphic novel artist and author who has been working on his book for 2 years non-stop. I'm finally at the end and it kept troubling me what my book might look like in standard and YOU are the ONLY video of the tons of vids I've watched, that actually REALLY show the reality of things and really compare it effectively with the Premium option. I thank you so much for taking the time to do this vid. It saved me mistakenly signing my book up at the Standard option. The only problem i face now is that the premium option jacks my cost to print up so very high because my book is so big (in dimension size and in length at 300 pages). I am having trouble imagining a person paying over $40 usd for my book and even then, I don't get great profits/royalties. But I will deal with that matter separately. At least one thing is for sure - FOR ME and my ART - i NEED Premium quality. There's no question about it. You truly showed that here in your wonderful video. My illustrations' value is on people seeing the details and DEPTH and the color and nothing being noisey and faded. Thank you so much for your vid! I keep saying that! haha Thank you! Bryan Dass.
Hey Bryan! Thanks for sharing this! I’m glad it was helpful. I spent hours searching through videos on UA-cam for this specific scenario and comparison and came up infuriatingly short. I decided to order one of each and make the video because I knew there must be other people wanting the same comparison. Congratulations on finishing your book! And maybe you could split the graphic novel into a book one and book two so consumers feel more comfortable about the price? All the best with publishing! And I agree. Art deserves premium color 🖼️
Sister dear, THANK YOU for this video!!! I've just gone through a bunch of 20+ minute videos of supposed premium vs standard print reviews, and people just yap and show you absolutely nothing.... You are the first person I found who did an actual comparison, and you even showed multiple examples. This is what a review should be, the clickbaiters should be ashamed. Also, I absolutely love your energy and excitement over the premium print :D Wish you good luck with your book, it looks amazing
Thanks for the comparison. The glossy premium looks more professional and clean. The standard matte is so dirty and cheap looking. As an artist, I want my art to shine, not be dulled down.
KDP print EVERYTHING in cmyk, all printers do, if you upload SRGB images then KDP convert them to cmyk for you automatically, PROBLEM IS converted images mess up the colors and alter them to dull ugly colors. You need to convert them yourself so you can change any colors that look manky in cmyk befor uploading. Best to always work in cmyk to star with...I learnt this lesson the hard way.
I have published 3 books with KDP. All feature lots of images in them. The copies I have received were printed in the UK and I can honestly say the quality varies greatly. The main issue being vertical white lines through pages. I contacted KDP several times with the issue and they assured me it would be reported back to the print centre but the issue still remains. The brightness / darkness of your images will vary greatly from book to book also. So beware. You may receive a book you are happy with but a customer buying your book could be very disappointed. The copy they receive could look very different to yours. Having worked in the photographic and digital print industry for many years I know these issues could be solved very easily. Proper calibration and machine cleaning/ maintenance. I guess Amazon KDP don’t care about this. To add to the issue, I’ve also had pages fall out of a book after just a week of receiving it. A real shame because Amazon KDP books is a great way to publish your book. A fantastic route for aspiring authors. If only Amazon had a decent quality control department.
Hi! I’m sorry to hear this. I ordered a number of proof copies of my own book and never had a severe color variance issue in the illustrations. But of course I’ve heard of instances of it happening - like the one you’re sharing here.
You want your book to be as quality as possible….so I just released a book with standard and it only has one picture inside but I was disappointed in the overall quality of the pages. The color on the pages looked ashy and felt cheap so now I have to republish it. The guy who helped me publish it I guess was trying to help limit costs but I can’t do that to the readers. I want to give them quality

THANK YOU! This is exactly what I was looking for. May your book be as successful for you as this video was helpful to me!

That’s why I recorded the video because none of the other reviews showed the actual comparison! I’m glad it was helpful ✨
This was a good video. Finally someone that shows what people actually care about!!
So grateful that you made this video to show the difference. Thank you, thank You
You’re welcome!
Wow! What a difference! The books I am doing don’t have pictures but if I ever add them, I know this now! Wow!
Thank you soooooo much for making this!!!! So helpful.
You’re welcome 🫶🏾

Thank you! I must choose premium for my children book! I appreciate it ❤
You’re welcome!
Thank you for sharing!

Hi, can you write on premium color? it’s look really glossy.
Premium color pages are glossy so the writing wouldn’t show well
Ok. Thanks!🙏🏽🙂
How thick are the premium pages? I’m looking to do premium color for drawing books. Do you think marker would soak through?
Marker might show but the bleed wouldn’t be bad. Kdp pages are pretty solid overall.

This is why I did this review to test the two before deciding!
@@kesiscameraroll you were smart for that and congrats! Book looks amazing by the way
I kind of prefer the matt standard... the glossy looks a bit cheap.
The glossy looks way better in person. The matte looks ashy and cheap in real life
Please look at this!!!!
