Firmware software or just plain luck, I have not had any issues with the player at all actually other than normal scratched DVDs or other imperfections in the disc or content I have been using. The player has turned out to be pretty reliable as the speed and performance are my only complaints...compared to other moderately priced players on the market, it does perform most functions with out problems. I still give it 5 out of 5 stars compared to other players priced near this player.
I saw that video. The only complaint was that, out of 50 4k movies, it froze 10 times. He did say he would do an update to that previous video, so I don't know if this is it.
Any owners confirm if they have finally released firmware to allow dolby vision to switch automatically each time and not have to manually slect? Also is dolby atmos only from drive or also from usb port?
I Have This Player ! Bought It 1 Year Ago ! The Perfect Player For My Home ! Except,It Has Issues When I Sometimes Update The Services,The Disc Doesn't Detect The Disc For A Few Seconds.Other Than That,It The Best !
So did you figure out what caused all the freezes you had or did you get a replacement? You complained in Feb. how it freezes and now you give a glowing review with no mention of freezing. A little confusing.

Trying to decide on getting this one cheap until Sony can figure out how to do Dolby Vision automatically or spend $249 for the 800m2?

Two completely different reviews of the same player that had to be immediately updated before using!!! BTW he did not say the firmeware update solved the freezing issues he said it had to be immediately updated before using and has been perfect! BTW pretty convenient that the 1st video is no longer up after just checking!
I have a tech challenging question. Can i... Watch Videos (MP4, MKV, AVI etc) via USB and does it read the SRT files (Subtitles). I download a lot of foreign movies and it somes with a subtitles file, i usually use VLC player on my laptop and it worked on my previous TV, Not on my new tv.. Im looking for a dvd player with usb that has this. i really need subtitles to read. Please if you own this dvd player, can you test this and let me know, even show me a snapshot or video would be appreciated and i can buy asap. Regards
From what I've read the X700 does not auto-detect Dolby Vision. It still has to be turned on manually which then sends everything out as DV. After so many generations of 4K UHD players why Sony has never changed this is mystifying and one reasonx that I would not buy one of its disc players.
I do have some video formats under .rmvb that this player won't play and also 3d MVC remux files from 3d movies which are only playable as 2d instead of 3d since the player won't pickup its frame packed file.
tatical audio video, I would like a big favor and one more help from you, I saw that you made a video about sony blu ray player x700, I needed to know if it was in the emby or emby theater app if you don't have any DLNA

And second of all how do I get it to play Dolby Atmos on the Netflix app. I caused so nice only says it does play Dolby Atmos on Netflix. But when I select a movie on Netflix I don't see the Dolby Atmos logo in any of the movies. And thirdly one last thing you say I don't have to turn on anything or turn anything off for it to play Dolby Atmos on the settings?
Please do not buy this. Its HUGE issue with skipping scenes and freezing with 4k movies. This happens with new movies and etc. Ive worked with support and they claim Sony has been looking into this but the issue continues a year later. Not a disc, firmware setup issue
I recently got the upgrade model of this basically just has an M at the end of it and comes with HDMI so far it’s an incredible player

Does it play Blu ray discs Region A, Region B, Region C and Dvd discs Region 1, Region 2, Region 5?
All 4K discs play from all regions.
