    Hey panorama, been watching your videos for a couple weeks now. It's not long, but i feel as though i've learned more about mastering from you in these short weeks than the last 6 months. Just wanted to say thank you! I still have lots of issues but I'm getting there day by day. Keep up the awesome work mate you're a legend!

      @@panorama_mastering Always! you've quickly become my favourite youtuber to go to for advice, you break things down for us in such a "simply complex" manner that makes it so easy for us to understand. It's 1am right now in the UK and I have college tomorrow but i'll send you an instagram dm to show you the progress i've made in just a couple weeks because of you. Cannot thank you enough for making these videos!!

    Izotope is doing a great job. I'm not a mastering engineer but I do use the maximizer on my mix bus to close the range of the dynamics a bit. You just gave me an assignment. Great work again! dat is it!

    Tested it very extensively. Pro L2 delivers a better sound even today vs ozone 11 Maximizer. The latter just distorts a little earlier no matter how tweaked. Many Many Pros have made this conparison. Big Z, Streaky, Zak cosmic academy. Personally i think i could show everybody in their studio how these differe and what to listen for

    I wouldn't precisely say "better" but it's certainly the best option in some circumstances. There are songs I'd much rather use a Weiss Maximizer.

    Thank you for your content. Thoroughly enjoy your channel. I've been leaning more towards ProL2 lately due to its oversampling capabilities. Ozone doesn't seem to oversample without True Peak enabled. What are your thoughts on using Ozone without OS?

    • @panorama_mastering
      @panorama_mastering  Рік тому +1

      Hey; as the IRC algorithms are measuring against audible distortions; it's mitigating the att/release time to minimise what is "heard" of that aliaising too; which I think in and of itself is another way of managing the effect of the aliaising distortion without oversampling;

    I was "pushed" into using Ozone Maximizer by my EDM clients... there was something about it I never liked, but who am I to argue with $$ coming in? 😉 I have weened them all off it now and still reach for Pro-L2 or Weiss first as the super clever and very impressive IRC algorithm is just not musical to my ears. As I own most of the top plugin limiters I decided to find the "cleanest" all round limiter across the spectrum and Ozone didn't actually make the top 5. I noticed your Pro-L2 settings for your comparison were begging for distortion... the little red section of the lookahead is there to warn us of that very thing. I think you'll find a much cleaner result if you set the lookahead at 2ms - you can then get much shorter attack and release times without distortion.

    • @entity9588
      @entity9588 Рік тому +2

      EDM clients like Ozone more because it doesn't mess with the low end as much as Pro L2. I'm liking PSP Xenon a lot lately

    • @panorama_mastering
      @panorama_mastering  Рік тому +1

      Hey ! For EDM I'm definitely leaning into using Pro-L2 MORE; especially in transparent mode because to my ears the low-end extends the best here; I toggled with the lookahead but that brought the overall loudness down; and required me to push more gain into the limiter's reduction circuit; and again; more compression; which resulted in some distortions;

    • @panorama_mastering
      @panorama_mastering  Рік тому +1

      Entity; try transparent mode in Pro-L2!

      @@panorama_mastering Hey! I know this is bit old comment, but I was wondering if you are still using transparent mode on Pro L2 ? Because Everytime I try to go hot with transparent mode ( above 3 gr) I could easialy hear the distortion, I am sticking now with the Puncy mode and allaround mode nowdays. I was wondering if you still using trnaspeartne mode for the Dance Musics.

      I prefer the transients in FabFilter; but that's a result of hard-clipping on those transients giving them some extra character/edge;

      It is cleaner, I've shot out Ozone 11 vs the Pro L2 and with the Pro L2 I get more low end and less pumping when I set it up correctly with oversampling.

  • @saardean4481

    I love your videos my friend.
    In this case i need to mention something i think needs mentioning. Imho you cant 100% compare Pro L2 with the Irc Modes above ii (or was it iii cant remember) cause then Maximizer goes into multiband mode . I find the comparison not even since Pro L is full range only. You should compare it with something like Elevate or Limitless etc. But again its imho only

    • @panorama_mastering
      @panorama_mastering  Рік тому +2

      To the best of my knowledge and al published data I’ve seen, and discussed from iZotope it does not go into multiband mode where it limits various bands differently; what it does describe and perform from the patent is a tonality index which allows it to shape the spectrum i to various bands of the incominging signal which controlls the GR (almost like a sidechain filter)

    • @saardean4481
      @saardean4481 Рік тому +1

      @@panorama_mastering interesting. I have not investigated that deeply. I just had this info from a correspondence with izotope years ago (cant even remember what it was about) and at some point someone from them wrote me that above ii (i believe it was ii at least) it is like a multiband. And i as a good fool believed them ....! Jokes aside, i am not a pro . From what you describe the way i see it that while it might not be multiband in the traditional way, if it has a "smart" detector circuit that more or less behaves in a more sophisticated way than traditional tools then it gives it a sneaky advantage.
      Having said that, when i want to get something "stupid loud and fast" as a test i always land with either Limitless, Elevate, Weiss MM1 or Maximizer in Irc IV mode and never with Pro L2 . But as i said. I am no pro to be honest

    • @panorama_mastering
      @panorama_mastering  Рік тому +1

      I can appreciate your stance on this; my aim of using pro-l2 in the comparison was to show the difference from a limiter with a release time that could have a degree of variation in opposition to one that is static;

    Nick! WTF? How you only gonna give me 5 mins of the good stuff? I swear, if your pink noise video is longer than this one we may need to talk. 🤪 You don't wanna end up like the "SNAKE OIL" guy. Even Dan Worrall has a Waves affiliate link now. I'm just saying... we've seen what happens to the good ones. One minute you're talking about "The Fast Fourier transform" and how a sound can be divided into individual "spectral"moments and then all of a sudden you"re featured in a UNISON Beats Pack commercial and all your UA-cam video feel like adverts for your always discounted course called MIXING FOR MORONS.... we can't loose you man, you are our only hope. Stay with the light Nick....... follow the light... 🌟 oh man.🤣 Sorry. that was a great video! I'm just having a little fun. I hope you go deeper though. I wasn't sure if all the IRCs do the same thing and what's that all about? I'm totally willing to join as a member for access to more of the technical stuff. I remember you posted a poll about something like that I would be first in line for that party. I've been posting your Ozone 10 videos like a true street rat. putting these uneducated haters in their places. i tell em "Nick sent me! Biatch!"

      Hey David;
      What would you like me to clarifiy which I didn't touch on in this video?
      I promise the video's I do are only for my own intrigue and curiosities; I have many companies in my inbox each week sending me software and products to try; but I find I'm more often reaching out to the companies who's products I use; or are interested in learning more about; to document here for content;
      There's no payola on this channel!
      I know this video is 5 minutes; but I felt like that was most appropriate for the subject matter; it was either going to be 5 minutes and to the point; or 30 minutes of "fluffed out" detail;
      Thanks for the support mate!
      Warmly,
      N.

      @@panorama_mastering just for the record my comment was mainly just banter and I apologize if you took anything I said I’m jest as a personal attack. Love this channels and love everything you do. I was partially serious about the video length. And I’m d that had more to do with your workflow and UA-cam’s algorithms then hey! I’m all in too. It’s easier to find 5 minutes than it is 30 minutes to watch a YT video but I definitely would like some more information on the Ozone modules in the future. I think it’s sounding really good! I would mainly only use the Maximizer, exciter and stereo tools in Ozone 9 but I’ve been trying
      Everything through Assistant since I got 10. It’s just doing
      Really good things now. Before it was kinda predictable and honestly bloated I the bass normally. Now it’s so crisp and fells like a real master.
      As for the desired information with the Maximizer. I am really curious what the difference between all the modes I’m Ozone Maximizer are. I guess I was hoping for something more akin to that FF PRO L deep dive a few months back. But… I’m sure you have your reasons for doing things how you do them. Maybe it’s a future video. Idk. I’m just hear to listen and learn. If I get out of hand every moment and then just tell me to shut up and sit down. But concerning that pink noise video. I’m standing firm on that opinion. Lol. Will be ridiculously surprised if you can find something new and or beneficial while beating that dead horse. Ok. Much love! Stay strong. Do a video on Brauerising! Now that seems like advanced, smart mixing. PEACE! ☮️

      Nothing ever taken personally!
      I'm always learning as much as the next person; so my ears are always open both in the studio and to these comment sections to make sure I can deliver the best I can for the subscribers;
      To be honest; I did have notes from the patent and confirm with the iZotope team details on the various modes; but excluded it from the video because I didn't want it to get too long-winded;
      Once I play catch-up on my sessions for this week and also catch-up on some of the forthcoming video's I can begin to archive these notes and publish them on a members section;
      Just a lot to do here!
      You're the third person to mention braurising!
      Will look into it; no rush on my end though with everything going on;
