Imagine how awkward it would have been to have Pierce Brosnan point a Walther PPK at you and say "No more foreplay" after you sexually assaulted the man. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I bumped into Sean Connery Edinburgh about 15 years ago. He was leaving one of his House's as he came out his garden I was just walking down the street opposite. I didn't say anything to him but he did look and smile at me
It was 2012. I was with my little brother and a friend of ours at a train station in Paris. Our friend was the first to notice Brosnan standing at a balcony. He had such a cool vibe standing there and looking over all the people who were all amazed to see a famous actor so randomly. I remembered the first thing I thought was: "Holy shit I controlled this guy in video games like NF and EON and now he is standing here" The balcony was closed off so unfortunately I could not get to him. I was stunned for the rest of the day. I remember my little brother saying: "Dude he is also just a human being. He takes shits just like you". Haha I guess you have to be a real Bond fan to really feel the amazing experience of seeing one of the Bonds IRL
Me: wow, I've met Diana Rigg, David Suchet and Anthony Horowitz, I can't believe the cool people I've seen in person! Calvin: hold my martini... Happy Birthday mate, I'm pleased you enjoyed it!
Pierce: Enjoying the trip? Calvin: Not really. Pierce: THEN MAYBE YOU SHOULDN'T BE HEEERRE!!! But yeah, you should've bit the bullet and said hello at least.
Discretion being the better part of valour means that you allowed yourself, & the Brosnans, a precious peace & rare moments of privacy.. Imagine if they were just decompressing & that luxury were interrupted by a "fanboy". And imagine if you were to be labelled a very ordinary, annoying, insensitve clod. Now, you shared in a classy Bond vignette you can treasure forever, always keeping open that tantalysing fantasy that if you were to meet professionally, he and/or she might remember you as a man of good sense, and good taste. Bravo, Calvin.
You're most welcome. You are a class act, you continue to build your reputation doing what you do in your own style, unpretentious but discriminating, giving your "Mr. Bond fans" some lovely entertainment & annecdote flavoured with humour & respect. And remember, even though you may have thought you decided out of fear, or paralysis, your actions speak to an upbringing that is a fine testament to values your parents have inculcated. Please share these kudos with them, and do, please, keep doing your part at keeping the British end up! Cheers!
No chit chat with Pierce ? ;) I understand you, what do you say to someone who probably wants to be left alone and that he has not heard a million times before , especially about Bond ? I would be scared to talk to him too . It's not the same than an event organized where the guest and people who come know the situation is more appropriate. (like what happens with George Lazenby for example) Nice encounter and probably very unique haha, you got yourself a story to tell at dinner parties sir ! If I saw him somewhere, I would probably still ask for a picture with him if he agrees and say "I'm not worthy ! I'm not worthy !" Happy Late Birthday !
Good on ya mate, glad you knew the setting wasn’t right, I’m sure he would be much more thankful that you gave him and his lovely some privacy, awesome story! Keep up the great work
wildebeest14 Thanks for those! Reading the comments on here I’m glad that I made the right decision. The setting wasn’t exactly appropriate for me to run up to him and say any number of things... “I’m alone...”
The way I see it you did the best service as a Bond fan. You left him alone. Would have been nice to get a picture but not like that. Karma will reward you for your patience.
@Alchemica Blackwood It's not exactly a public area. It sounds like a fairly exclusive, isolated spot. Pierce probably would've been pleasant enough if Calvin went and said hello, but I bet he appreciated Calvin's respect and manners even more.
Alchemica Blackwood I’m sure him and his wife would’ve been fine with meeting Calvin, I’m not saying they wouldn’t have been. I’m saying they probably appreciated that Calvin respected their time together alone and didn’t interrupt. Even actors need to take a break every once in a while. And once again, it doesn’t sound like this was a private place. Sounds pretty exclusive, and no doubt the bar attached will have been for paying visitors only
Calvin - your being in the same location as Mr. Brosnan is no coincidence. You eat, sleep, and breath James Bond movies and books. Thus, your subconscious mind led you to be in the right place at the right time.
While on water with Pierce, you should have first ordered a drink. Then raise the glass and shout: "What a magnificent view... mojito??" And then out of nowhere he would have said: "Nah, i prefer martinis... shaken not stirred!" *Bond Theme starts playing*
GREAT story. Sean Connery once nodded at me in Edinburgh in 2008, which was pretty special, but like you I didn't go over to say anything, I got the impression he wouldn't have appreciated it.
Used to work in the Wales Millennium Centre. The grand opening in November 2004 was a Royal Gala attended by The Queen & Prince's Charles & Philip. Anyway, first I had a slightly drunk Sir Ian McKellen asking me questions until Dame Shirley Bassey in fully diva mode came along and dragged Sir Ian away from me. Then later at the after party whilst mingling with colleagues & performers I just happened to come across Johnathan Pryce. So I went frantically looking for pen and paper, before returning and standing patiently waiting for him to finish his conversation. However, noticing me waiting he turned and smiled whilst raising a very arched Roger Moore esq eyebrow. This prompted me to step forward, get his autograph and have a short conversation about Tomorrow Never Dies and Bond in general. With fortunately no Dame Shirley to come along and interrupt this time. But Calvin, your story is sooooo much cooler
It probably would have been a more epic experience had Brosnan took notice, walked right up to Calvin and said "If you're gonna keep looking, you might as well say 'hi'" In all seriousness though, you probably did the right thing. I saw a program a few years ago about celebrities caught on camera. Brosnan was in one. There were a couple guys filming him from a car without his consent. When it became clear they weren't going to leave him alone, he pretended to be friendly. He shook the one of the men's hands, then when he reached for the other guy's hand he grabed it and whacked it into the first man's head and camera. Brosnan pulled a Bond stunt of his own in real life. XD
All the way through this story I was rooting that you'd get to say hello or meet him, but the fact that you didn't force it really shows what a gentleman you are.
This reminds me of the time that Johnny Depp was on my flight to New York. I was at Manchester Airport when he walked past me, and like you my reaction was very much "Wow that guy looks JUST like Johnny Depp! Woah, the resemblance is uncanny!" But didnt think too much of it straight away. I saw him again and considered asking, but thought "nah he's just tryna live". Finally I saw him on the plane I was on, in economy class so immediately I think "it'd definitely not him, you can move on with your life" Then we arrived in New York and fans mobbed him at the airport... I've also served the guy who plays Sam in Game of Thrones at the bar I used to work at, and again was like "that looks JUST like him" until he spoke and I was like "oh okay it IS him!" My default reaction, basically, is to assume it's just a really good look alike!
Such a great story to hear, Calvin! Brosnan must’ve been the best present you’ve ever had. Very nice of you to respect his privacy during the day, really shows you’re a gentleman. I did once bumped into Gemma Arterton, lovely woman! She was recording a film and I could quickly snap a picture with her. Very cool experience.
No waaaaaaayyy!! That's bloody amazing!! I never bump into famous people! I'm so glad I didnt look at the thumbnail as I enjoyed the build up and tried to guess which Bond it was, I was thinking Lazenby! Great stuff and happy birthday!
That's pure serenity for you Calvin! I have the biggest smile on my face for you... That's incredibly awesome you got to see Pierce Bronson. Happy birthday :)
Bradley is a regular at Villa Park, filming schedule permitting of course. I have a relative who works there and they see him often. Very polite man they say.
He is also in the first MCU Captain America film, he plays the caretaker of the old Viking temple that was attacked by the Red Skull. He gets executed by Hugo Weaving at the end of his scene.
I am seriously jealous that you got to "meet" Pierce. I'm so socially awkward, I probably would've completely fanboy'd out and scared the poor guy, had security called on me, the whole nine yards... XD EDIT: I've had my own celebrity encounter. I'm a pro wrestling fan and absolutely loved the women's tag team called the Riott Squad. Happened to bump into them after a show one time and got a picture with them. But it was EXACTLY one of those situations where I don't know what to say and I don't know how to act... And it's like I'm trying so hard NOT to be awkward that I'm actually making it worse and I'm thinking to myself, "Okay, reel it in...Be cool." but it's almost like a reflex and I know I'm probably coming off as a creeper...but I just can't help it...To their credit though, they were super chill about the whole thing. It was a moment I'll never forget.
Amazing! Happy 30th Calvin! And what a memory to take from it. I know you've said Pierce is your Bond as you grew up with his films and the GoldenEye game. Must have been incredible. Hard to say if you should have talked to him, only you know if there was a right moment. But no loss that you didn't, it seems he wasn't annoyed at your presence, so a cool guy. To be fair, I don't know how much he likes being asked about Bond, as he still seems annoyed with Eon's reluctance to listen to him and their firing him. I figure he wants to be known for his other roles. I wonder if Shrublands was fully booked........
Wow Calvin, that’s an incredible story 👍 About a month ago I was in FOPP Blu Ray/DVD store in Covent Garden and I saw Film director Edgar Wright walking around looking at movies..... like you I was all “WHAT DO I DO OR SAY” lol !! In the end I thought just leave him be as he probably just wanted to go in buy some films and then be on his way. Funnily Edgar did direct Bronson in The World’s end 😊
i was an American Civil War Reenactor for many years and worked on quite a number of Civil War films as a Background Artist. I met George Lazenby while working on the film Gettysburg in the early 90s. I literally bumped into him at the Craft Services table one morning. He was super Cool and we ended up chatting under a tree for about 30 mins. over coffee and bagels before we both had to go shoot some scenes. Literally the LAST place I expected to meet a Bond Actor but was a highlight of my time working on the film.
In regards to surprise actor meeting experiences, I met Evanna Lynch at a Wizard World convention in Oklahoma back in 2017. I got her autograph and had a good time chatting with her. A few hours later, I'm with a group of friends at a local bar/club when we look over and see her dancing on the floor. The girls in our group were big fans of her and were able to get pictures and dance with her for a bit before she headed out. It's one of those humanizing experiences seeing an actor or actress that you are a massive fan of and getting that opportunity to interact with them in that situation. Glad you had a great time abroad, Calvin, and happy belated birthday!
I saw Pierce at the premiere of Goldeneye but didn't get to speak to him. I went to take pictures but not a single photo came out. You can go prepared and it can still go wrong.
Lol this is an hilarious story. I saw that he was in Iceland at the same time you we're from both of your Instagram accounts and thought that it would be funny if you bumped into each other.
I've met several so called "celebrities" including Pierce Brosnan. They are pretty normal, if you just act normal with them. You can just say something like: "Hey, I appreciate your work as an actor." Act like you don't know them. Just say something like: "Hey, how's it going? How's this place. Have you been here before?" Then as it comes up in conversation, talk about something that he says. Maybe you can ask him: "Do I detect an Irish accent?" You can talk about Ireland maybe. Or if he mentions Malibu, I would ask him if his house was affected in Malibu during the fire last year. He lived there. Sean Connery got married to his wife, because she talked with him and didn't know who he was. He enjoyed just being normal. But he probably liked it too, that you just left him be with his wife. I remember one of the Bondgirls telling me that with her friends, who were all celebrities that they would just sort of talk like: "Oh, that's what you do...." Like when you meet an accountant, or an engineer. Make it no big deal and they appreciate that. I had breakfast with a famous Bond actor and throughout the time, we kept on being interrupted in our conversation by everyone and their brother, telling them about how they were so wonderful and who knows what else and asking for autographs and photos. He was very gracious about it, but I remember feeling like I was just glad that I wasn't in his shoes. Some actors really like it though. Pierce strikes me as pretty easy going. The life of the party type of guy. I used to be good friends with his publicist. If you had talked with him, he would have been cool with it, I would think. But congratulations on your 30th birthday. Now, you have to be like the rest of us.... Watch your diet. Avoid sugars and carbs and you'll be a lot healthier. :-)
Calvin Dyson, 30? Surely you jest! It was but yesterday when a teenager with a Justin Bieber haircut cried that Licence To Kill was the worst Bond film...
Pierce is the only Bond actor i wouldn't mind seeing return to the role of 007 if the chance or idea came. He was the first Bond i watched. If Die Another Day wasn't so silly and over the top he probably would have stuck around longer.
I met Sylvester McCoy once. I took a picture with him, and as I moved in for it (it was a selfie), I accidentally elbowed him in the face. Luckily he didn't seem to mind (he found it quite funny, he's laughing in the picture). Goes on record as one of my favourite days of my short life.
Very cool to be in the presence of Brosnan. You should have fake like you were drowning. I am sure he would have sprung into action and saved you like you were Jinx in Die another Day. JK. I think you did the right thing by not saying anything when he wife was around. When he was sitting alone was the opportunity but still an awesome to have swam with James Bond. The trailer is coming. Being in front of Star Wars makes sense that will get it in the eyeballs of a huge audience. December is only one month ahead of November that's not much of a head start. What could happen we get the teaser trailer in November than in front of The Last Jedi we get the full trailer. Either way the trailer is coming soon. Don't worry.
Happy belated Calvin! I honestly think you did the right thing by leaving Pierce alone with his wife. He may be a public figure icon who played a fan favorite character, but he is still entitled to a private life. I remember a TMZ tabloid story back in 2007 when Brosnan was ambushed by a pap in downtown Malibu, where he lives, where he was a chaperone to his younger son on a lunch playdate with a friend of his son's. Brosnan had a rule for paps to never talk to his kids, and the pap got dickish and asked his son what he thought of "Daddy's successor" referring to Daniel Craig taking over as Bond. Brosnan reportedly told said pap to "Fuck off, mate!" and apparently gave him a knee kick, and the TMZ pap filed assault charges against Brosnan which were settled out of court. I have never met a celebrity myself, but I do think it's a fine line to remember that they are human beings like yourself at the end of the day and they want a private life as well. That's not to say they won't occasionally entertain in non-constructred settings, I once saw a fluff news story about a man who got on a plane and out of the blue, his row mate was none other than multi Oscar-nominated film starlet Amy Adams. Why she wasn't flying private is anyone's guess, but she was apparently very easy to talk to and enjoyed having someone to talk to for the duration of the flight.
Wow! what a special experience that must have been. Of all places on earth ICELAND! Who would of thought. I know what you mean, what could you possibly say as a Bond fan that Mr Brosnon hasn't heard before. Next time remember your waterproof autograph book! Happy Birthday, Calvin!
Love the jumper and shirt. Sounds like you had a great time and wow you have met 2 bond actors now that’s amazing I would have loved to met Roger Moore but sadly I never will.
Cool story. I met Patrick Swayze on a cruise i was working on in 2004. I know what you mean about being starstruck. I bought him a cigar and he thanked me the next day.
Thank God David Zaritsky wasn't in the pool at the time. He would have leapt on Brosnan's back and screamed "What trunks are you wearing? What chlorine are you swimming in?" Can I buy replicas of these? I love you Pierce! Hey Security, get off me! I own an Aston Martin! I'm just like him!"
On holiday, we bumped into Jeroen Krabbé, who played Koskov in The Living Daylights. I had the same thought as you: "Dont disturb the man on his holiday!". But my dad and sister went up and got a picture with him, so that is something I regret until this day...
Your story was very captivating. You handled that situation very well. I respect someone who respects the privacy of a celebrity. It shows that even die hard fans can have respect! I'm glad you had such a rare oppertunity!
That story made my day! Love the way you played it, I did much the same thing when Hugh Laurie sat next to me in an airline lounge at LAX. Good work Calvin, I couldn't think of a better birthday present for a Bond super fan.
When I was about 4 years old, my dad took me up to London where Gerry Anderson (the creator of Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, Stingray etc) was doing a talk at some animation/art museum because they had a new sculpture of Scott Tracy. At 4 years old, you don't understand the significance of something like that so I was too shy to talk to Gerry Anderson, which I kind of regret in hindsight as I'd never get that opportunity again especially since he died in 2012. It was still a great experience, though, and I got to see one of the original puppeteers walking the original Scott Tracy puppet (which walked right past me). Not 100% related to your story, of course, but it reminded me of that so I thought I'd share it here haha
For a short time, I worked at ILM. While visiting Skywalker Ranch, my coworkers and I went to a restaurant on the grounds. It was a sort of cafe out on its own on the property, with indoor and outdoor seating. One of my coworkers seemed to recognize someone, and walked off to speak with him. Being the awkward guy I am, I just sort of stood in a corner, waiting for my order. Looking around the room, I saw two men at a table, one of whom looked like Dean Deblois (director of the How To Train Your Dragon films). I didn't think much of it -- seemed likely to be him, but while I am definitely a fan, he's not necessarily someone I would "geek out" about having seen (and like yourself, I'm not the type to interrupt someone's day to tell them I'm a fan). But a moment later, the man with whom my friend was speaking to turned around, and as he neared the door he said, in a very familiar voice, "Hey Dean." It was Brad Bird. Brad Bird is DEFINITELY someone I'll geek out about. But I kept my cool, and he left. Once our orders were up, my coworkers and I went to sit on the patio. As it turned out, Brad Bird had sat out there as well, so we were mere feet from him. For most of lunch, my heart was in my chest. When I finished eating, I took my plate over to a rolling bus station, with bussing trays that were all upside down. To my (excitement/horror?) Brad Bird arrived there at the same time as me. I pulled out the bus tray and flipped it over, and as he put his plate in, he said "Thanks, man." And now I have a tattoo on my chest. "Thanks, man. ~ Brad Bird."
(That last part's a joke, but it still makes me smile every time I remember that encounter. Also, the reason my coworker talked to him was that he was animating on Brad Bird's project at the time, "Tomorrowland." Not my favorite of his films, but still a cool experience, I'm sure!)
Dude, now THAT is a story. I would have felt much the same, in terms of being overwhelmed. Kudos for treating him with the proper respect and not wanting to intrude on his privacy. If you think of the enjoyment he's given you, it's as though you've been able to give something back to him in return. Still, it would have been cool if an opportunity had naturally arisen to have a chat with him. It's shame that didn't happen though, as you're a megafan rather than a mere civilian ;-) I saw Leslie Ash at Doncaster train station, I think. I didn't get my hopes up because she's into mods and I'm a rocker. Obvs. I'm not paying for photos with celebs at conventions anymore. I did it once for a chance for a photo with Chris Barrie (Rimmer), and he was very polite, but I the whole thing felt a bit hollow. I want to one day work with these people that I admire and interact with them as a peer.
Hey he looked at you ! Good enough. Back in the early 80s I was at USC at they were filming an episode of Remington Steele. I saw Stefanie and Pierce filming or more like standing around.
I knew Pierce was in Iceland recently because of his Instagram posts, and then I saw you were there at the same time. Right place at the right time. You’re so lucky to have had that close encounter with one of the best Bonds.
I'm sure that God give you that amazing "gift" for your birthday my friend! hehe :P You deserve it brother! Congratulations! I wish I have an experience like that haha!
If you want a definition of serendipity this is it. Calvin goes to where Die Another Day was filmed and runs into it's star (also his favorite Bond) at a health spa. The fact Calvin's not just a Bond fan, but runs a Bond channel just adds to it. As Elliot Carver would say "Delicious".
It's oddly reassuring to know someone else would react that way in this day and age. I'd have been the same and would have only felt cringey in hindsight if I'd bothered him. I think you made the right call.
Wow Calvin that is just a sensational story!! I work in New York and do some background acting so I've seen many big name actors and actresses. When I see them in the city I'll usually do exactly what you did-respect their privacy and just move on by. However .... if I saw an ACTUAL JAMES BOND ACTOR that would be IMPOSSIBLE!!!lol! I would DEFINITELY have approached them and it would have been the WRONG thing to do. You were super cool and classy about it and now you have a treasured moment you will NEVER forget! Great job...and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!😎😎
Wow so cool that you got to see pierce brosnan in real life. I wouldn't have been able to talk to him either lol. He's my favourite bond actor and you're my favourite bond critic 😊. Happy belated birthday 🎂 (you have the same birthday as my dad) looking forward to your next video 😊
I have a few N Peal jumpers, and things. They’re really warm, really soft, but by golly they take some special looking after. Hand washing, making sure not to shrink or stretch them. I also had some holes develop, believed to be by moths. I have to say though their customer service is great. I took the item back to the shop, they took it in for repair, and wash (at a charge, not warranty) and posted it back to me for free to my home in Switzerland. I don’t know how they washed it, but it came back like new, not just clean, but back to it’s original shape, and any pilling removed. The turtle neck had become a little stretched and loose with wearing, but it came back perfect again.
Meanwhile Pierce and his wife are glancing at you and murmuring to each other “Yeah... yeah I think that’s him. The UA-cam guy. Yeah, Goldeneye is his favorite. Think he knows?”
You were in Iceland with Pierce Brosnan what a surreal moment. It must’ve felt like you were in Die Another Day. What a great moment, something you’ll never forget. I enjoy all your Bond videos. Keep up the great work!
Two things first off i am a HUGE fan of yours been watching since 2011 and I was 11 years old... i am 19 now and I love your channel... second I love that you were respectful of his privacy and that you didn’t go full “fanboy freak out” on pierce... hope you and your partner had a good vacation... cheers from America
I once passed Tom Petty and couple of the heartbreakers once in hallway of the Hotel I used to work at and we nodded at each other. I also met George Clinton at a restaurant after he did a show across the street and stayed in talked to everyone waiting in line until his food was ready and he sat down to eat.
My father sat next to Brad Pitt in the late 90s on a plane. I think his private plane was unavailable. Since my dad was an ex mountaineer, he and Brad bonded over that, I think around this time Brad Pitt was starring in that movie 7 years in Tibet and was really interested in the mountain life and the sherpas. Dad did say he was an awesome bloke and very down to earth
You are very lucky. Meeting an Actual James Bond is something Many Bond fans hope to achieve. Brosnan is my personal favorite Bond and I hope I can meet him someday as well.
Happy Birthday, man! You always manage to get me watching this amazing film series again, and I'm always a little bit upset to see your old reviews disappear. 😞 And how awesome it must have been to meet our childhood Bond! 😃 Congratulations!!! I know how awesome it must have felt because I recently met Jennifer Holland (James Gunn's girlfriend) and David Dastmalchian (from The Dark Knight and the Ant-Man movies)! I walked up and had the conversation -Are you...Jennifer Holland? -Yes. -James Gunn's... -Yes. -(Turns my head) And you're (switches to Batman voice) Schiff...Thomas!
I'm sure Pierce was just as nervous about seeing the great Calvin Dyson.
There is only one true Bond fan...
His name is Calvin Dyson...
Calvin was probably all like, "I loved you in Remington Steele! 007, who's he?"
**Pierce looking at Calvin, thinking** "Would it be weird to say hello or ask for a picture? I mean we're practically _naked_ here!"
"Wow! I loved Taffin!"
@@alfonsobiggers2452 better get the ticket.. you don't know when those have sold out **something explodes behind**
And in another corner of UA-cam, one Mr Brosnan is doing a vlog, where he says he was in a pool with Calvin Dyson, but was too shy to say hello.
Brosnan: Who are you?
Dyson: Dyson, Calvin Dyson.
You were expecting someone else?
Brosnan: Top o' the mornin to ya.
You should have just waited for him in the sauna room to reenact the scene from GoldenEye. LOL
Imagine how awkward it would have been to have Pierce Brosnan point a Walther PPK at you and say "No more foreplay" after you sexually assaulted the man. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
FloBraMan especially as a man...

Completely unacceptable Calvin. Life’s short. Should’ve climbed out and said ‘no more foreplay’.
Togwak1 😅🤣
Lmaoooo
He should have yelled "taka taka! Ahh well played Mr. Bond!"
Just as he may have one life, he would've lived twice.
Are you sure it was not just actually Bond following an old lead on the Graves corporation?
Maybe it was a Spectre agent wearing one of those latex Bond masks from FRWL

I think its 3 I think he saw George Lazenby the other month.
Calvin has joined the ranks among Harrison Ford. 😉
@@StarWarriorCentral I've seen Daniel Craig at his very premiers and was at a dinner party with George Lazenby a few years ago.

@Alchemica Blackwood It's not exactly a public area. It sounds like a fairly exclusive, isolated spot. Pierce probably would've been pleasant enough if Calvin went and said hello, but I bet he appreciated Calvin's respect and manners even more.
Alchemica Blackwood I think smiling at somebody who is in close proximity to you is basic politeness 101... it’s not exclusive to women.
Sounds pretty exclusive, and no doubt the bar attached will have been for paying visitors only
We all know this was Calvin's secret lair underneath in a future Bond installment, and he was allowing Bond to have one last swim. ;)
You got me!!
Calvin - your being in the same location as Mr. Brosnan is no coincidence. You eat, sleep, and breath James Bond movies and books. Thus, your subconscious mind led you to be in the right place at the right time.
Certainly would explain it! I honestly couldn't believe what I was experiencing...
Always appreciate the Nightfire background music in your videos! super underrated scores I think
While on water with Pierce, you should have first ordered a drink.
Then raise the glass and shout: "What a magnificent view... mojito??"
And then out of nowhere he would have said: "Nah, i prefer martinis... shaken not stirred!"
*Bond Theme starts playing*
There’s a post by his wife of them in a hot spring in Iceland that must be the same one you were at.
GREAT story. Sean Connery once nodded at me in Edinburgh in 2008, which was pretty special, but like you I didn't go over to say anything, I got the impression he wouldn't have appreciated it.
Imagine if this happened today. "I gave COVID to Pierce Brosnan".
“I don’t know if I was having a stroke” Well you were swimming, was it a breaststroke? ;D
Jokes aside glad you had a lovely time
Used to work in the Wales Millennium Centre.
What was Sir Ian asking you? I imagine him sipping on a glass of wine.
@@obscureentertainment8303 he was just asking about the building and about the evening's events
It probably would have been a more epic experience had Brosnan took notice, walked right up to Calvin and said "If you're gonna keep looking, you might as well say 'hi'"
In all seriousness though, you probably did the right thing.
I met Pierce at a local steam fair, charming man, we were born on the same day.
Was it carters steam fair
Indeed it was.
Finally I saw him on the plane I was on, in economy class so immediately I think "it'd definitely not him, you can move on with your life"
Then we arrived in New York and fans mobbed him at the airport...
I've also served the guy who plays Sam in Game of Thrones at the bar I used to work at, and again was like "that looks JUST like him" until he spoke and I was like "oh okay it IS him!"
My default reaction, basically, is to assume it's just a really good look alike!
Pierce Brosnan is my favorite Bond too!!!
6:58 OMG Hearing you say that now in 2021 is hilarious. Don't worry Calvin, there will be PLENTY of time to build up hype for No Time to Die lol
That's pure serenity for you Calvin! I have the biggest smile on my face for you... That's incredibly awesome you got to see Pierce Bronson. Happy birthday :)
The only celebrity I bumped into was David Bradley who played the caretaker in Harry Potter and that was cool.
Ooh! Lucky you! It's a pity Filch is his only really *famous* role, Bradley, but he's genuinely one of my favorite British character actors.
Dalek Vadron good for you he’s a very nice man.
K. NutCart hot fuzz is great. Timothy Dalton steals that film.
I met Dalton once after a Man City game.
Obscure Entertainment how did that go?
@@loganford6483 Just sort of awkwardly made eye contact for a few moments.
Did you get to have a chat with him at all?
@@georgewashington3212 No. I like to think we shared an unspoken moment of kinship.
Some say you can meet Brosnan in an Icelandic Spa, others say you can meet Dalton at a Man City Football match!!!!! 🤔
Walks in on him in the changing room; "terribly sorry, forgot to knock"
I am seriously jealous that you got to "meet" Pierce.
I'm so socially awkward, I probably would've completely fanboy'd out and scared the poor guy, had security called on me, the whole nine yards... XD
EDIT: I've had my own celebrity encounter.
You did the right thing in my opinion. You got a great story out of it, and Pierce got to keep his holiday low key.
Oh, Calvin. You could have just calmly and subtly walked over to him and said, "In London April's a spring month..."
i was an American Civil War Reenactor for many years and worked on quite a number of Civil War films as a Background Artist.
I have mad respect for you fir having that experience and not talking to them just shows how much you care
I actually thought about this. An older Bond sucked back into work. He could do a movie like that some serious justice and has aged well.
He still looked like he can be bond in The November Man
And he can run around shouting at his smart house.
But the idea of never getting the Casino Royale or Skyfall that we got... Does not sound like something I would like..
That famous Bond Sylvester McCoy? 😂
TMZ deserved the chastisations.. fuck them!
Wow! what a special experience that must have been. Of all places on earth ICELAND! Who would of thought. I know what you mean, what could you possibly say as a Bond fan that Mr Brosnon hasn't heard before. Next time remember your waterproof autograph book! Happy Birthday, Calvin!
Happy Belated Birthday, Calvin. Sounds like you had a fine time.
Love the jumper and shirt. Sounds like you had a great time and wow you have met 2 bond actors now that’s amazing I would have loved to met Roger Moore but sadly I never will.
Thanks, Sam :D
Calvin Dyson Reviews Bond no problem.
Cool story. I met Patrick Swayze on a cruise i was working on in 2004. I know what you mean about being starstruck. I bought him a cigar and he thanked me the next day.
Wait you turned 30! I always thought you were still in your twenties
Thanks! I still get ID'd in pubs which is nice!
@@calvindyson I thought you were in your mid twenties😱
That was what I was thinking. Calvin looks like he's 21.
@@freemantle85 so did I 😂😂
@@calvindyson isnt it also nice to look manly?
Thank God David Zaritsky wasn't in the pool at the time. He would have leapt on Brosnan's back and screamed "What trunks are you wearing? What chlorine are you swimming in?" Can I buy replicas of these? I love you Pierce! Hey Security, get off me! I own an Aston Martin! I'm just like him!"
😂
That's an excellent story! Thanks for sharing it with us. And honestly I think you handled the whole situation with absolute class. Right on man.
That sounds incredible! I have never experienced something like that, but it going from your story, it seems completely spontaneous. I can only hope.
Strangest video title ever 😂
Awesome story. You did the right thing.
Arrrrrgh. I feel your pain but you did the polite thing. You are a gentleman.
I bumped into one of my favorite you tubers, James Rolfe. lol! He and talked for like 30 min.
That story made my day! Love the way you played it, I did much the same thing when Hugh Laurie sat next to me in an airline lounge at LAX. Good work Calvin, I couldn't think of a better birthday present for a Bond super fan.
I would've been to nervous to introduce myself too. But I can't help wishing you were able to tell him how "Goldeneye" is your fave in the series.
That can't be described as anything other than fate! If you had gone there the day before or after, the moment wouldn't have happened! Brilliant 👌
But a moment later, the man with whom my friend was speaking to turned around, and as he neared the door he said, in a very familiar voice, "Hey Dean."
It was Brad Bird.
I pulled out the bus tray and flipped it over, and as he put his plate in, he said "Thanks, man."
And now I have a tattoo on my chest.
It's shame that didn't happen though, as you're a megafan rather than a mere civilian ;-)
I saw Leslie Ash at Doncaster train station, I think.
You’re so lucky to have had that close encounter with one of the best Bonds.
interesting experience - a fan meets the star. thanks for sharing.
happy birthday Calvin! sorry for being late.
I had a similar siatuation with my favorite fictional character of all time. It was in NYC in 2011 and it was Jack Bauer himself, Kiefer Sutherland.
I'm sure that God give you that amazing "gift" for your birthday my friend! hehe :P You deserve it brother! Congratulations! I wish I have an experience like that haha!
Mad props for being so respectful to his privacy.
That is amazing. I can’t blame you I would’ve been star struck too. Glad you had an awesome time on your trip.
Awesome story! We will be there in May, and so will this story be in my head.
Glad you and your fella enjoyed the trip. Shame you couldn't think of an... icebreaker... when you met Pierce.
Bloody hell Calvin, that’s impressive! Glad to hear Iceland was a good experience to say the least.
This is hilarious watching years later, cuz we know he was probably filming Euero Vision 🤣 I liked that movie more than I probably should.
30??? You look 19 at the OLDEST
30 is the new 20
Meanwhile Pierce and his wife are glancing at you and murmuring to each other “Yeah... yeah I think that’s him.
And how awesome it must have been to meet our childhood Bond! 😃 Congratulations!!!
I know how awesome it must have felt because I recently met Jennifer Holland (James Gunn's girlfriend) and David Dastmalchian (from The Dark Knight and the Ant-Man movies)!
I walked up and had the conversation
-Are you...Jennifer Holland?
-Yes.
-James Gunn's...
-Yes.
-(Turns my head) And you're (switches to Batman voice) Schiff...Thomas!
So you look great in that sweater. That is all!
