I currently think I have Fibromyalgia rheumatica. I have an appointment February 1 2024 with a Rheumatologist. Meanwhile I have been taking prednisone through a my internal medicine Dr. I determined I would not live with that pain again!
I’m trying to prepare as I am lowering the dosage. I have found something that really is helping. I am not a Dr.
I am a fellow pain warrior. It’s not a cure, but it’s helped tremendously for me.

When my rheumatologist first told me what he thought I had, I came home and googled PMR and read some medical studies on it. Dr. Meghan is correct that prednisone is pretty much the only drug that works. Thankfully, the majority of PMR patients who successfully have their symptoms resolved after the treatment regimen will never have a recurrence. I have hope.

Impressive. I didn't see vit k2 in your formula. I do just dietary CA and D3. Starting weight lifting tomorrow. 73 yo, 18 months in, on 3.5 mg.

I'm confused. If you tapered down to 4 mg a day for prednisone, what happened to the PMR? Did it decrease or are you in remission or what?

I went on 15gm prednisone in late July 2021 for PMR. Am now down to 7.5gm. This drug has given me my life back! It also gave me 18-20 pounds back since I can now eat normally again. I'd lost 55 pounds in 9 months and was still losing, and had anemia too. But that horrible pain is gone and my weight gain is tapering off. I feel at least 10 years younger than my actual age.
I do have some trouble sleeping and use 1/2 Ambien, 5mg, which fixes it.
I'm mostly afraid of bone loss and an supplementing with calcium and D. Am hoping to get off prednisone completely within a year.

I also have PMR and have taken Prednisone for a year and a half. I went to pray in a garden and I heard to look up Prednisone. So the first thing that appeared was Dr. Megan’s prednisone/pharmacist. Wow I had no idea about the side effects; and I have had many. I am now taking her supplements and slowly reducing the prednisone. We thank God for your work!

Hi Nonna, I am curious if you had difficulty while tapering off the prednisone? My doctor said I should be off it after a year's therapy if things go as expected. He did say some folks take longer.

Those of us who are recovering and have taken our last dose of prednisone ( the devil’s tic tac) are curious at to what we can expect once we are off of it. How long does it stay in our system, will we get our muscle tone back, will our skin recover from looking so transparent, etc..? I have been off of it for almost 2 months and am shocked everyday by how much better I am starting to feel.

Good ideas for what I should make future videos about!
I’d love to hear in what ways you are feeling better! What is shocking you most?

Is there a way to take prednisone that causes less side effects? My son needs to take it several times a year and he is afraid of getting Cushings or some other disease as a result of taking it. Are there ways of taking prednisone that are safer than others? I wish you could do a video on this.
