- The moose has been bagged, and the haul needs to be dragged back through the cave, over the ice, and all the way to Camp Office. Once there, though, we are set to make a plan for the long run.

I believe one part of survival in this mode is probably to create chains of fireplaces, heat-highways if you will, where you have ready made fireplaces with at least a symbolic supply of wood and cattails in places that are 100% guaranteed to not be blown out by wind. Considering the idea that you cannot eat ruined food this means you must be on the move hunting consatantly, creating those lesser chain bases with a miniscule supply. Every venture out there you bring supplies but must drop portion of them along the chain so you can't be caught by surprize.
@3:23 Best news ever... LARRY LIVES! I had all but given up on him. All is well in Great Bear.
I’ve got a warmth bonus of 23 degrees C on my current Mis run with my clothing setup. Coal is absolutely essential at this point. The evenings are really the only time to explore and travel without the risk of huge damage. So I’m curing bear hides and going to attempt to increase my warmth. There’s no other choice imo.
OH MY GOD! I did not realise this was a current series. All the other ones I've watched are old and finished so I could binge watch. Now I have to wait :(
I‘ve been camping in Coastal Highway, just beachcombing, fishing and staying warm, with some trips to the caves for coal every 30 days or so
Where are you staying? The garage or one of the houses? Or just the fishing hut?!
Fishing?!
Can´t realy belive that... cause you need tons of Wood for that and the effort since the latest changes at the fishing results are so bad that it´s not realy worth to do it!
Cause the chance to get a ammount of fish out that´s more worth than your spendet calories is not even realy equal!
6x tip ups or line fishing?
aka regular interloper haha
Both of my decent misery runs have given me a break between day 17 and 32, where I get hit with two at once - weird
The sprains doing 4% condition damage with broken body is crazy, especially with bear/moose coats. Hardly any sprint left to crest hills, and I feel like rheumatic joints shortens that ~10s grace period when you get the slope warning.
You could say it's miserable
Best thing about level 5 fire is one stick one torch - true forever fire weather permitting ☺
I just travelled from the airfield to camp office with my first travois. It was a bit of a pain in a few spots but also discovered a couple things.
In FRBL I discovered that though you can't click to enter a cave, you can just walk into one. I made it about halfway before getting stuck and having to unload. Once I picked it up, I couldn't deploy it again so may not be intended behavior.
In Broken railroad I found you can travel across logs. If it has roots sticking up like the one I was on, you will get stuck at that end though because it's too steep.
In an Interloper run, Boris ate 5 arrows and got me on top of a rock near the cook shed Twice in one hunt. Got him with three arrows and he got up on the rock and bashed me.... I stood back up, bandaged up, grabbed the bow and plugged him again in the top of the head.... and he turned around and came straight back up and bashed me again.... I wobbled back up, bandaged up again, grabbed the bow and said "It's you or the run ends here bear"... and plugged him in the back the head once again..... and he dropped. About 10% health left and everything ripped to hell. No boots, no gloves no hats, outer pants in the red, bear skin coat in the orange.... Bit of a mess. Weather woz nice though. ;)
If you craft all good clothings (about +30 degree warmth) you can go out late evenings and feel like -2 or so. Crafting clothing definitely worth it in misery. Late misery is only 5 degrees colder than late interloper (plus 2 degrees if we account for cold fusion). Good clothing for sure helps.
I think so too. Teas are fine but if your temperature still drains faster than the water in my sink its no use going outside.
I did now 5 runs there and agree there absolut!
It is worth to craft asap the "better" Clothing!
Without you are screwed with the final affliction, no matter how many teas you did "farmed" before!
99 BOTTLES OF GUTS ON THE WALL
Bashrobe has a Misery 101 video on his UA-cam channel that confirms what Survivor Mike outlines in his Misery video. It is nice to have more than one source of info to cross reference.
I've dragged the sled back from the cabin in Broken Railroad to the Camp office there are only two spots where you get stuck, the trip took me around 40 minutes irl time lol
0% fishing tackle can be used to make fishing tip-ups. found this out by chance on my interloper run last month.
Around 1:02:30 Your reasonning about sprinting is interesting, but it will become obsolete once you discover what "Rheumatic Joints" affliction does ;)
morale of the story you can call the animals any name you want.
5:34 I feel like i can see just fine as you walk through caves without light during the day so all good! I mean it’s dark but it’s not like there’s a lot to look at to begin with so i don’t think it decreases the entertainment of your play through.
Yeah, this is fine. It only bothters mewhen it's for a long period of time. I've seen some people loot entire places and the screen is pitch black or travel to another location on a moonless night with no light. Now that's annoying
I think the Hobbits call the wolf near the Dam Trailers “Scoopy”
Scooby?
pfft, i just died overnight cause the game gave me the afliction chilled bones while i was asleep. i woke up with 5% health :(
Savage
that's mean :(
I survived for 18 days and died in PV because I was walking with one piece of meat that didn't even give off a smell, but a wolf came to the door of the plane and ate me. And I was with a torch. Conclusion - never go with cooked meat in The long dark
Just came to this video again, to leave You a comment, Zak! I have years of UA-cam experience :) But I have never awaited a video like I am from You. :)
Loving this series!!
39:00 it reminds me when I farmed the fire master feat, you need a lot of fires ! It gets faster when you get level 5.
My Misery run just ended after 19 days. I don't think that's too bad being that I never played Interloper only Voyager and Stalker.
Glad I got here this quick so I can enjoy another episode.
You got the Moose, now what's the next plan?
Her Zak, you said a few videos ago that someone would try to play this on a harder mode, and just last week I saw someone playing naked misery
Yes there is also OuterMisery
The greatest Long Dark content creator strikes again! always so helpful. unfortunately though I just spent 9hr looking for a rifle in the whiteout challenge and your walk through didnt help that sadly. i went to 9 rifle locations and found nothing even all the way to trappers cabin... best to just watch the pros and eat popcorn :)
You found two arrowheads.
I would not assume Survivor Mike is right without testing it yourself. He may be making an assumption based on his first playthrough.
Huzzah for Larry! 🐇
MmmmMMmm... Meat-moose and buckets of guts! It's about to get serious. Carry on.
You still have a week until the next two afflictions
Pretty sure you lost the 8th arrow when you were hunting the moose. You kept saying an arrow bounced off after you killed it.
meese moot, my favourite
You got heavy because your pie wore off @22:15
So if you bag a bear and leave its meat raw as is. When you cook it, it will be back to 50% isnt it? It is still food poisoning risk when you eat it like this? Of course it is match consuming when you have to cook day by day.
Yes it needs to be above 75% to have no risk
10:28 does this happen to alot of people when loading into some buildings and/or caves because this has been happening to me and i thought something was wrong with my game
Hello I play TLD on Xbox and PC, I really am struggling to use the pc keyboard so I plug an Xbox controller in, I am wondering if at some point you could give some tips on how you physically play if it’s a mouse and keyboard or whatever, the problem I run into on Xbox is leaving notes as you do, it’s very important especially when I don’t get to play for a few weeks, that’s why I want to be proficient using the pc keyboard but I am struggling. Thanks very much for the content you create and have a nice day.
You know you've made it as a content creator when people start repeat the silly things you've said. This could be different in story mode but you can right click to move a piece of meat right onto a cooking slot saves going in and out of one more menu when doing mass cooking.
I feel like that didnt always work unless you werent using a skillet or cook pot?
zak: do you know if there's a hacksaw at summit on misery?
Havent checked but I think so, similar to interloper
@@Zaknafein thanks
zak: should you make the moose and wolf coats or just double bear coats on stalker?
it doesnt matter on stalker
For protection you can wear one moose-hide cloak and bear coat because there more wolfs and they can be more annoying, but for cold you dont need to care that much. Even if you catch cold damage, on stalker your health regenartion is pretty fast.
But you can wear double moose or double wolf coats.
I agree with everyone's comments. My 2 cents is that for clothing I would worry more about weight and protection than warmth for stalker.
Agreeing with previous person, on lower than interloper it makes sense to opt for more lightweight and protective clothes and personally I like to have less sprint-impairment too.
i had my last affliction at Day 47
Bad news.... level 5 cooking dosn´t prevent getting parasites... :(
2. Bad new´s i found out... if oyu got brocken Body, you also get a lot of damage from PAIN!!! So allway´s cure the Pain and the Sprain if you got some, hurt like hell! Sleeping dosn´t prevent that!
You can still get parasites
You can make 2 campfires in the corner of camp office near the metal box, they should be immune to wind.
They are relativ save, but not 100%!
Yeah...ive had some fires there be blown out.
The corner in the church in desolation point may be a different story:im fairly certain the no-wind box of the interior covers the tucked in corners(s), but the camp office interior is separated from the main map by a loading zone.
Will we get episode 9?
Yes :)
@@Zaknafein Will episode 9 release this year or after the launch of gta 6 on pc?
Will you continue posting this series Zak? 😊
Yes, just behind. See latest post
@@ZaknafeinOh I see, sorry for that! I hope you rest up and take all the time you need 🙂
Part 9 when?
Wednesday
I've been checking the site religiously thinking I've missed part 9. glad it's coming out soon!
Hello zak
Also about having anything that can fuel your fire ? Not only a great amount of wood but also a coal that respawns 1:06:59 🫶🏻
