  • Hello, parents! In this video, we discuss gentle and effective alternatives to the Wilbarger Brushing Protocol for children who find the brushing technique too intense. Some kids with severe tactile intolerance or sensory dysregulation may experience adverse effects like overstimulation, vomiting, or even seizures. It's crucial to consult with a trained professional before attempting the brushing technique, especially if your child has a seizure disorder.
    In This Video:
Understanding the limitations of the Wilbarger Brushing Protocol for some children.
Safe and gentle alternatives for sensory regulation.
Demonstrating simple, slow compressions on the skin and joints.
    Key Points:
Slow Skin Compressions: Apply gentle, slow compressions to your child's skin. This can help provide the deep pressure input they need without overstimulating them.
Joint Compressions: Gently compress your child's joints, such as shoulders, elbows, and knees. This technique can offer similar sensory regulating effects in a more tolerable way.
Professional Consultation: Always consult with a trained therapist or healthcare professional before starting any new sensory technique, particularly for children with seizure disorders.
    Why These Alternatives?
Less aggressive, making them suitable for highly sensitive children.
Can help achieve the same calming and organizing effects as the brushing technique.
Easy to implement and adjust based on your child's tolerance and needs.
    Special Note:
Watch as my son, who is so bored but tolerates his mom's mission to help other parents, adds a bit of humor to our demonstration! 😂
