The scene where they're going "holy moley" made me think of Saruman and Wormtongue giving the speech to the 10,000 orcs in The Two Towers. They should've drank to that
In case anyone missed the connection: The guy's glowing sword reminded them of Bilbo/Frodo's sword in LOTR, which is called Sting, which is also the name of a musician who was a part of the band "the Police", who had a popular song titled "Roxanne".
Love that James still remembered that he learned pigs are attractive by the time the movie was over. It's also somewhat disconcerting.... My vote goes to Sword in the Stone.

101 dalmatians! I watched this movie once when I was like 6 and all I remembered was how slow it was, how boring Eilonwy was, and how dark it was. This has validated all of that. My memory is golden tbh

This movie was loosely based off of a book series that I don't remember that well called the Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander. If i recall correctly, Elonwy was much more badass (the second book's cover had her fighting a ton of goblins atop a shining white steed with a horse). This movie sorta smashes all 5 books into 1 in a really bad way in my opinion. The books are much better and the movie is named after the second book.
Eilonwy is the best character ever lol, the movie changes her and it made me sad. The only thing more awesome than book Eilonwy is drunk Disney! U guys rock lol!
For anyone who's interested, Defunctland posted an episode talking about the Cinderella Castle Mystery Tour from Tokyo Disneyland, which features the Horned King and the mythology from The Black Couldron. Pretty interesting!

This episode was uproariously funny the entire way through. I literally couldn't stop laughing at your D&D comparisons! Also, Gurgi falling into the Black Cauldron is just like Gollum falling into the fires of Mount Doom. My vote for the next Drunk Disney is 101 Dalmatians.

101 Dalmatians! Cruella De Vil is literally my favorite Disney villain of all time, and I've just always loved the movie. I'll admit that I actually sort of like The Black Cauldron... I know it's not that great but I kind of like how dark they made it. I can definitely understand why people don't like it and why it failed at the box office. I'm just glad that it didn't completely kill Disney animation. It's actually loosely based on a series of books, so maybe that's where the similarities to Lord of the Rings come from?
5:41 The reason Eilonwy's introductory line sounds repeated to Fflewddur is because it is a replay of the same recording. When Eilonwy first says the line to Taran you can tell that her mouth doesn't fit the words. Ergo, the line to Taran was originally written as something else. I wish I knew what.
I think we should make a petition to bring these characters back as meet and greet characters anyway cause the fanbase is so huge for it now then it was back then
The Horned King is Skeletor or Ganondorf, Taran is Link, and Eilonwy is Zelda. The magical bauble Eilonwy has is Navi. The Sword Taran has is the Master Sword. And the man who owns the pig is that one guy whos like "It's dangerous to go out there alone, take this sword!" except he gives Taran the pig :p
I tried to watch this movie like a month ago, and I got about halfway through before I gave up. Thank you guys for making it interesting! Also, BIG HERO 6!
