  • Welcome to episode 15 of the German WW2 log bunker build here on the WW2 history and re-enacting UA-cam channel. If you are new to this series - we are building an authentic log bunker from the second world war for our re-enactment group, based on original German specifications and building plans. If you want to watch more videos from this series you will find the complete playlist down in the video description below! n today's episode we will continue working on the machine-gun port - winch you can see me working on right now - as well as the walls. Hopefully we will reach another milestone on the build today by installing the final logs on the walls - and getting us one step closer to getting this thing done!
    Will we ever get done with this build? Join us on another long day of backbreaking work as we continue on our German WW2 bunker - slowly but surely the walls are going up! This is hard work, there's no question about it! How far will we get today? Watch and find out!

    Welcome to the video series "WW2 Bunker Build" here on the WWII History & Reenacting UA-cam channel. This is a very interesting, educational and fun project. We are building a typical German wooden bunker from the second world war using original drawings and correct materials. This particular construction is not supposed to be under ground, but was a special type used in marsh lands or areas with shallow bedrock - typical for Finland etc. Follow us as we put in the hard work, and watch the build from start to finish - link to the complete playlist below.

    Welcome to the "WWII History & Reenacting" UA-cam channel!
    The main focus of this channel is primarily military history, mainly within the second world war (WW2) timeframe. The channel features various content, such as videos on metal detecting, magnet fishing, exploring and visiting historical sites, collecting militaria, reenactment, restoration etc. I'm a WW2 reenactor/living history enthusiast and many of my videos feature tutorials, kit reviews, reenactment footage and information about the hobby. I mainly portray the German side within the timeframe. Collecting militaria is a huge part of my life. Unboxing videos, collectible presentations, and collecting tips, as well as metal detecting and relic hunting are also typical videos on the channel.
    This channel is strictly non-political and my videos are meant to be fun, educational, and informative

      Absolutely. Very interesting bunker construction actually- was it typicall only to the arctic/ polar region in Scandinavia? Because in the region I live (in 1944.-45. there was so called Courland pocket)- most bunkers are dug in the ground. @@ww2historyandreenacting

    • @ww2historyandreenacting

      @@karamelles98 My understanding is that this type of bunker was intended for places where ground conditions would not allow for bunkers to be dug down in the ground- like near/in bogs (with shallow ground water) and areas with shallow bedrock. In Finland/Karelia at least, the ground situation was in many areas generally badly suited for regular underground bunkers - at least in the area where the original unit we portray were fighting. The terrain is somewhat identical in certain areas witch is pretty cool. 😊

    It's really getting there. Cant wait to see it finished (hopefully soon). But i have some questions, how will you make the door that is if you are making one? Also, is there any form of shutter that closes the machine gun port?

    • @ww2historyandreenacting
      @ww2historyandreenacting  10 місяців тому +1

      Thank you so much and likewise for taking the time to leave a comment! 😊 I'm glad you asked 👍 We will build the details like the door based on the original manual. For the door we will mill up some lumber (bords) and use some basic door hinges - and we will probably make the door insulated with sawdust or newspaper. The machine gun port will have a shutter yes 👍😊 Thanks for watching, best regards from Norway 😊

      Yes! Imagine having battle fatigue and everything else on top of it! 😮 That's one of the things I love about this hobby of living history. It gives you a sense of how it was (up to a point of course) in terms of practical things from equipment to building fortifications - and It really gives you that upper edge of insight when studying the real history.
