Thank you. All great tips. I will definitely try that theme and variations approach. When I was playing Over the Rainbow, I accidentally pressed the wrong keys. They were wrong in the sense that they were non-existent on the sheet music, but they actually felt somewhat satisfying to my ears. It was when I first thought about this thing called improvisation. Thanks again for providing some practical tools I can employ. Needed to start from something.
Do you have any tips on reading the 2 lines of music at a time? I usually memorize the left hand then read the music I'm playing for the right hand... I seem to have tunnel vision as I only read the top or only the bottom (one hand) of music :( Thanks!
