6:33 I REALLY like your new teaching tools. The stave with movable notes give the student a visual of the notes and the piano keys at the same time. Kudos.
I always learn something new under your instructions.
Seeing your awesome piano playing. ❤ even makes videos a joy the hear. Hahaha, this video looks classic, but I still like the videos with you in your comfy foot booties. :)

Although it's already been six months since I started learing to play the piano, I'm not still fully comfortable reading the notes with confidence as I play. This truly helps me reinforce what I have learned. Thanks for this.😊

I'm so glad this has helped! Yes, it takes a minute to read music fluently. I always compare it to learning an actual language as an adult. Think of how long it would take one to learn how to speak a second language fluently...quite a while (at least, for me it would!)

Do you recommend thinking in terms of CDEFGAB or ABCDEFG? Or does it matter? Thanks again for the video.

      Hi,
Im not her, but I'd say CDEFGAB is usually the reference scale in textbooks (when new scales are defined, that is). That being said, ABCDEFG is not a bad alternative. See, CDEFGAB is exactly the major scale, and ABCDEFG is the minor scale, and both of these are standard scales that every musician has to know. Id still recommend learning the major scale first.
C-Major and A-Minor are "modes" of each other. That means, if you take the last note of one scale and put it at the scale beginning, at some point you're gonna get the other scale. You will have noticed that there are more than these 2 modes that can be built from C-Major or A-Minor, (e.g. D-Dorian: DEFGABC) but they are a bit less important nowadays and (very roughly spoken) their character is a varying mixture of major and minor (there are exceptions). That being said, they're still interesting and jazz players, modern classical composers and a bunch of pop and metal bands use them effectively.
Note that not all scales are modes of each other. Take C-Major (CDEFGAB) and C-Minor(C D Eb F G Ab Bb). Regardless of how you arrange these notes, an Eb will not become an E.
I usually think of scales as scale types beginning on any of the 12 notes. A major scale for example, regardless of where it starts, always follows the pattern WWHWWWH, where W stands for two steps up on the keyboard (black keys included) and H stands for one step up on the keyboard (black keys also included). If you know the pattern of a mode (e.g. Major) you can start this pattern from any note (e.g. Eb) and you will get the Major Scale of that note (Eb-Major).
      Hope this helps.
p.s. use the circle of fifths to find out more about modes and scales in general.

I don't think it matters too much. For a beginner, the most important thing is to not fall into the trap of NEEDING to recite all the letters of the musical alphabet in order to find their note on the piano. For example, to find treble G on the piano, I've seen people have to first find middle C, then they HAVE to say, "D, E, F, G" as they plunk the keys going up.
This is ok to do at first to gain an understanding and memory of where the notes are located on the piano, but eventually, instant recall of treble G is better/faster/easier!

Hello Susan, I'm your faithful student☺️. Answer me if you have time since this has only little to do with this vid i guess. I'm practicing Minuet in G from Bach. There's these few half notes with rest notes right above them, both on the bottom staff. What are those and how should I play them properly?

Hello, faithful student! 😄 I *think* I know what you're asking, but why don't you send me a quick email with a pic of the score so I can be sure exactly. And circle the spot you're talking about 😃 pianoroadmap@gmail.com
