This chapter confirmed my hypothesis. I had been considering the same idea since chapter 258 came out about Sukuna needing some prerequisite to using the Flame arrow, possibly involving the Cleave and Dismantle techniques. In the fight against Mahoraga, we saw Sukuna first using Cleave and Dismantle in the domain against him before moving towards the Flame Arrow. It's similar to cooking vegetables; you must first cut them before you can cook them. The technique works in the same way-you have to first use slashes to cut your opponents, then you can use the furnace to burn them.
And then maybe if they survive that the seasoning comes in and that connects with the title king of poison

I'll add a little: from what i understand from the current translation, when not used in MS, Flame is a single target technique(as seen against Jogo), and when it's imbued in MS, it become a follow up to the slashes, it ignites(decompress-overcompress whatever) everything what's left from the slashes.

I was expecting Choso to die this chapter. But I did not expect it to be that emotional. I was actually expecting that Yuji would eat Choso since he would be the last Death Comb Paintings to get their full power. But Choso disappearing like that gets the feels so much, especially when he says he had only spent time with Yuji for a couple of days compared to 150 years without a body.

Yes, I had same thought. Amd in order for him to use his "devour", someone has to survive his cooking phase lol. Now the feast may begin. Or he also has to be hurt and in danger for his devour to activate, like he is now and like he was when he got hit the first time with Jacob's ladder, in that moment his head grew all big and weird and chomp on angels arm. That has to be something, cause it's just so different than anything we've seen.
Maybe he has to “season” the “food” after putting it in the Furnace in order to devour it ie. His title the King of Curses and *Deadly Poisons*

I feel like sukunas fire arrow technique works like a charge, like he just has to use cleave and dismantle enough to where he’s in the zone, then once he’s used them enough and in the zone he can then turn it up a notch by turning on the fire … so essentially like boiling release in Naruto where the user must build up the kinetic energy within the body over time that naturally comes while in the heat of battle. So while doing that sukuna is able to then awaken and switch to his brothers technique

I could definitely see it working like this, the Naruto analogy makes a lot of sense. I don't think its his brothers technique though, because with those types of twins they are viewed as 1 individual by the universe, and people aren't born with more than one CT, so they should only have 1 between the two of them (Shrine). Just like Maki and Mai didn't both have a CT.

How do you think the fire arrows opening works, we know Sukuna has to us cleave and dismantle a lot as a precursor to opening the furnace to use the fire arrow, but do you think he has to generally let out a ton of slashes or does he have to target a single person with both the slashes and fire arrow, because when your cooking you dont just swing a knife around you instead cut up the food (aka the target), then you proceed to place it in the oven.
I was just wondering because when Sukuna was fighting Jogo and Mahoraga he slashed them a lot and they were the target of the arrow which is reasonable in their fights, but in this fight he has been targeting Yuji with a lot of cleaves and dismantles and he kept Yuji in the centre of the domain (or his kitchen) to target him with the fire arrow as if he was the main dish.
since the entire technique is cooking based, i think the idea is he has to use both slashes on 1 person before he can use the fire arrow on them "to cook them".
Other bit of poetry: when Yuji was almost broken by the loss of his sister (Nobara) Todo was there to pick him up and fight his then nemesis together.
And now as Yuji is devastated by the death of his big brother, Todo is here to do the same once again.

(2) Ui ui comes to get maki , miwa and ino (and whoever else) out of the fight after sukuna's domain is finished
(3) As ui ui teleports all of them away sukuna cuts of todo's arm goes straight for ui ui , todo and yuji try to stop him
(4) As sukuna goes for ui ui , someone stops him, A person with a katana with shell of once a cursed spirit, aka yuta
And we won't see hakari vs urhume but a comment about their fight from sukuna or yuta ,

As for the fire technique I think sukuna incorporates it in the domain because the low speed and chance to miss; it probably has a long cooldown time or it needs a multitude of slashes to be released and on use resets the counter. I knew Todo was coming back considering the fact that Maki got protected by a Simple Domain and Todo's hair was showed on the panel
He didn't need a domain to use the flame on Jogo because as stated the fire without a domain binding vow is pretty slow and small (to Sukuna's standard) so if he tries to use it on Gojo, Yuta or Maki then they would properly be able to dodge or survive it. When he really needs to nuke then basically he converts the domain's energy in that fire to make it stronger.
Jogo is faster then Yuta, Maki, and Yuji.
