  • Vegetarian food has a reputation for being bland and uninspiring. But that is not the case at the Singapore Buddhist Lodge which serves free vegetarian meals to some 700 people daily. The credit for this culinary transformation goes to the head chef who has been progressively introducing an array of delectable dishes that can match their meat-based counterparts in flavour and texture. The revamped menu has even managed to draw in a younger, working crowd to savour its offerings.
    But the kitchen may face its biggest challenge yet after the COVID-19 dining restrictions were lifted. It needs to prepare food for approximately 7,000 people who will attend the Vesak Day feast.
    00:00 Introduction
    01:31 Unique vegetarian food at free Buddhist Lodge kitchen
    04:35 Challenging the 'bland' reputation of vegetarian food
    08:19 Cooking in a giant wok with a huge spatula
    14:10 The secret to making vegetarian pig's trotters
    15:40 Non-stop cooking to feed 7,000 people

    Applause to the chefs who worked selflessly on Vesak Day for more than 12 hours 🙏🏻 It must be tiring yet rewarding to see so many diners leaving with a happy face.

    Great insight to large kitchen organizations. It's almost like an orchestra, with military precision. This type need to prepare days and weeks beforehand
    Also great footage on underground "caverns". There are some gems in Singapore that make the country look bigger than it actually is.

    World most expensive country to buy a car but taxi & ride hailing ride fare are way very low comparing to other major economies. Have anyone ever thought about it, driver daily overhead such as rental/lease, petrol, carpark and many more.... everything are getting expensive but fare are still pathetic.
    For driver, more daily trips plus longer working hours. How to have work life balance like that?
    Western tourist also wonder and ask driver how they earn with low ride fares in Singapore.

    don't say you are a master chef unless you are a real chef. you can cook not mean that you can work in a real kitchen. most of master chefs all over the world can't stand in a real kitchen. these tv shows are really messed up with people. they are for entertaining and not for showing how the chef's life is.
    nice try to work in the large kitchen.

      What do you mean?

    • @neocount6397
      @neocount6397 7 місяців тому

      @sudipbhaumik7905 we evolved to eat meat, we invented agriculture to feed the poor. Eating plants and framkenfoods like tofu are the cause of most metabolic disfunction. It actually leads to neoteny, gracilization, cancer, heart disease and diabetes. This is most notable in the fossil record.

    • @neocount6397
      @neocount6397 7 місяців тому

      @STAYCBias I'm a type 1 diabetic. Diabetes, along with most other metabolic syndrome, develops from living off carbs. Humans evolved as the apex predator, to eat meat. It's a requirement. Eating plants, or anything else we invented/cultivated, especially as a mainstay, makes us very, very sick. Although carbs are delicious, which makes it tough, but not impossible to eat healthy. Don't get me started on soy.
