I am an international fan( from Belgium)so I don’t really need to watch this. But honestly watching you is a hobby, seeing how motivated and excited you are is just fun to watch. 🤓
Fran just wanted to say that I have been watching your videos from the very start, we are ALL SO PROUD OF YOU! you inspire me everyday and sacrifice your time to make such helpful content for future students Love you and your channel xxx
I didn’t get all A*s and the example you have filled me with confidence. Btw I love all your videos. Fingers crossed I can get an offer for medicine from Oxford.
I think it’s a misconception that you have to get all A*s in order to get in. This isn’t true; the admissions team look at your application holistically ❤️ Yayy excites for you to apply x
I will definitely create a video about this, probably at the end of the year. In the meanwhile check out my ‘my second term at Oxford’ video, I explore those topics there ❤️
Coincidentally enough this video has already been filmed, edited and scheduled to be released next Saturday! I read through my whole statement giving helpful tips and advice along the way. Stay tuned ❤️
This was really helpful thank you. I am quite worried for my personal statement because I don't have any hospital work experience and I'm worried my personal statement won't be good as I don't have any good examples like the one you had.
This year has been incredibly different and confusing for everyone. Med schools understand that some people may not have got work experience/ had their cancelled. Honestly don’t worry about it, try and focus on the things you can do now e.g. online courses / virtual work experiences ( I have a video on this if you want more info). If you want to find out the exact work experience requirements for 2020 application you can check out the medic portal who have an amazing post on this xx
Hey I love your video and it was very helpful, I just got my GCSE results and only got a 5 in maths but an 8 in English. I'm going to do biology, chemistry, psychology and AS maths. If I get high grades in my levels would that help increase my chances of getting accepted for medicine at Oxford or Cambridge?
You are amazing!! Thank you very much for the video!! I am an international student doing my psychology degree at Brookes at the moment and thinking about applying to medicine after I graduate as an undergrad (not graduate entry). May I ask you to keep an eye on people who were in the same circumstances and are studying at Oxford? Nevertheless, thank you once again!! Good luck!!
fumbled GCSE's and got 6-9's achieving an equal amt of A* & A's to B's im just gonna work on the things I can control to make my application more competitive. on that note what did u get in ur GCSE's and how would u make ur application more competitive? plus dyk anyone w similar grades thats acc at oxford/got an offer.
Great video! What would you say is the most effective thing for a Year 11 to be doing at this point if they plan to apply to Oxbridge (or any other uni) for medicine?
Hey Kia☺️ i would definitely say investing time into researching the practicalities of the application, maybe familiarising yourself with the admissions tests. Also you can use this time to start reading books and potentially exploring which areas of medicine most appeal to you. What I have been recommending to my younger sister (also yr11) is that you can also capitalise on this time to start learning your AS course (only basics ofc) meaning you will be ahead of the game when September comes 😀
hi are you allowed to send off written work like essays or research for medicine? can you send lots of written work and can you send written work of around 5000 words? thank you
Hey! Loved the video. I'm wanting to study med at Oxford in 2021 but I'm kinda confused on the requirements as I'm from Australia and our school exit exams are completely different to the UK?
I think further maths will definitely make normal maths a lot easier for you but you don’t need to do 4 alevels to get an offer, unless you want to of course❤️
Do you think its better and more competitive to submit your statement as early as possible? amazing imformative video as per usual Fran. I'm so excited for the personal statement video next week
I think you shouldn’t rush to submit your statement as Admissions officers will only start reading applications from 15th October (early UCAS deadline). Submitting it earlier will not make your statement more competitive ❤️❤️
Hey can you pls tell if mathematics is compulsory in grade 11 and grade 12 to study medicine at oxford? I have biology, chemistry and physics and my compulsory subjects. Can i apply for medicine at oxford?
This might be a stupid question for the UK, but how and where do you get you work experiences? In my country it's up to us to figure out what work experiences even are..😅
did by any chance u went to a grammar school or private school sixth form? because i was wondering if your chances are higher if you go to one of them schools instead of a comprehensive school
Heyyy! I went to state comprehensive school - so it wasn’t grammar or private. Whilst you may get more support and resources at the latter schools I don’t think your chances will be higher based off your school :)
@@simplyfran7041 ah ok, also i was wondering when you went there were the majority of the other students originally come from grammar/private schools, and if so did that feel intimidating or daunting by any chance? were there many that came from comprehensive school by an chance (aside from yourself) ?
Hi I got six 9’s, two 8’s, two 6’s and a 5 in GCSE and I have predicted grades of A*AA so I don’t know if my application will be competitive enough and I don’t know if they will choose me. Also do they do dissection or prosthetics?
I’m from America, so I’m a bit confused if you went into medical school right after high school or did you graduate with your bachelors and then/now are in medical school?
hello sis, is there any medical scholarship in Oxford or not? if so, what is the name of the scholarship? please answer sis, I really need this information please help me🙏🙏🙏🙏
Where is your accent from?? You sound really southern but then you say button/ summer/ Study in a slightly northern way. Did you live in Manchester or Leeds for a bit haha. Congrats for getting in and avoiding chemistry lol.
Hi! I'm a bit late for the video but hope you will see this :) Do you know if you need to have A level Chemistry in order to get into Medicine in Oxford? I'm not from the UK, and I have A levels in Biology, Maths and french. Thanks a lot!
Sorry about this, it’s definitely a shame. If you want ideas of how to cultivate extracurric/ work experience like supercurric check out my ‘Personal statement during lockdown video’ ❤️
Hello😀, usually the med school will expect some sort of work experience but due to the current climate they understand if you can not get any work experience and will take this into consideration ❤️
@@simplyfran7041Thanks a lot but can you get in without work experience though and if you were to, how would you go about getting the work experience. E.g you said you went to a cardiology ward. How would you do that?
Zen Lev usually no, they would expect work experience. However if you’re applying this year it is possible for you to get in without experience due to COVID-19. In terms of getting work experience (after lockdown ) i recommend using the medify work experience tool to find programmes in your local area and applying ASAP, that’s how I found the cardiology placement. Yes , most medical schools require Chemistry and often Biology too, especially Oxbridge
