Hi all, We have done a detailed video on cruise control. Now we are here detailing traction control, its pros and cons, how to engage and disengage this feature etc. After watching this video, you will be having a great knowledge on how to use this feature.
Works in the background to help accelerate and prevent wheel slippage (or “over-spinning”) when driving on slippery surfaces.
Traction control is most effective when accelerating from a stopped or slowed position, or when trying to accelerate up a slippery hill. This feature provides a lot of benefits to drivers, from making driving smoother to helping them stay in control of the car on icy roads or during rainy weather.
Drivers should be sure to reduce their speed and take turns more slowly when driving in slippery conditions.
The intervention consists of one or more of the following:
Brake force applied to one or more wheels
Reduction or suppression of spark sequence to one or more cylinders
Reduction of fuel supply to one or more cylinders
Closing the throttle, if the vehicle is fitted with drive by wire throttle
In turbocharged vehicles, a boost control solenoid is actuated to reduce boost and therefore engine power.
Typically, traction control systems share the electrohydraulic brake actuator (which does not use the conventional master cylinder and servo) and wheel-speed sensors with ABS.
Feel free to ask any doubts or querries regarding the video in comment section or instagram us on drivemeauto.

I use an Automatic Ford Escape (2.5 L SUV), which has cruise control and I use this feature as much as possible. It has the traction control feature, which is ON by default.
I want to know more about a condition which I have been observing. While driving in a sloping road (eg. an over bridge) with cruise control at a speed of 100 Km, I observed a sudden and steep increase of RPM (say 2000 to 3000+ RPM), but without any increase in the speed and with a feeling of applying break. This does not happen at all the times. But happened many times.
Is there anything wrong with the car ?
Is this connected to the traction control feature ?
Recently I started trying with taction control OFF and so far this problem did not happen

Hi, First of all you don't need to worry about it. It's a mechanism related to the cruise control. When you have set the cruise control, the cruise control system in your car will try to keep the vehicle within the speed limit set by you(let's assume it as 100kmph). While you are driving down a hill, the speed will increase due to the gravitational force. Hence the cruise control system in your automatic car will make the engine downshift to a lower gear automatically, causing the engine RPM to rise, while keeping the speed under 100kmph. This is quite normal in modern cruise control systems. So, say no to worries, wish you a happy driving❤️

Traction control is not only for uneven roads. They help you from the vehicle get jerk and moving forward without control when you start moving. Also these help in slippery situations.
