THAT has been in the back of my mind for YEARS now, as I work around animals and livestock, it always bugged me why humans were not routinely given the treatment as well. Thanks for sharing, it actually brings some peace of mind, finally.

@@scottrichardson8158- do you deworm your dog or cat routinely in the US? Because most vets recommend that you do so. Same parasites, same issue. You may or may not have an issue and even if you do, you might not really notice or might think it is from something else. I have known more than one person who lived in the US their entire lives but who discovered that the indigestion they were suffering from was actually some hitchhikers they had picked up somewhere along the way. Worms are not protozoa when it comes to how your body reacts to them. Our sanitation levels in the US are quite high but not perfect.

I picked up parasites on my first trip to Colombia, and fortunately, I was treated there. I had a coworker who traveled abroad and picked up parasites but he didn't get sick until he got back. There was a delay in successfully diagnosing him at Lakeland Regional Hospital in Florida. He was admitted and spent a couple of days there until an infectious disease specialist finally figured it out. We sure are spoiled in the States. :)

Paul is quite right. I had a restaurant in Cancun Mexico for 12 years. It was very important for all my staff to take loxcell regularly .As parasitical infections are prevelant in Mexico. Important points are ,do not put tapwater into your mouth, even if you are staying in the best hotels, even to brush your teeth, USE BOTTLED WATER ONLY. Any vegetables or fruit with skins should be washed with a vegetable disinfectant or with slightly soapy water (ie antibacterial washing up liquid) on sale in most supermarkets usually near the fruit dept . Please avoid leaf vegetables in restaurants as you do not know if they have been washed in tapwater or if they have been washed properly and ensure any meat product you eat is fully cooked. I recommend taking Loxcell before you go home and I think the instructions say that it is recommends to take another dose 2 or 3 days later in case of any eggs. Its a good idea to purchase extra Loxcell to take home with you so you don,t need to chase a prescription in your country as in Mexico they are over the counter.

I sleep in a mosquito net because the first evening of my trip out at the palapa, I got about 30 mosquito bites on each leg. Over the years travelling to Mexico, I was probably exposed to the mosquito diseases but thankfully I only had a low fever and recovered (after these latest mosquito bites). Wellll… take his advice. In the last year I’ve contracted shigella twice and my wife, who is Mexican, always living in Mexico contracted Typhoid Fever. I picked up my first case in the Mexico City Airport restaurant eating a salad. My wife got Typhoid brushing her teeth with sink water (I even know better than to do that). Then again Shigella near Merida. This last case I got some small town pharmacy to sell me something strong which killed it fast. That time we ate at a small outdoor restaurant in a plaza. When we finished, we noticed the “kitchen”, looked at each other and agreed we made a big mistake. BTW, we typically eat at excellent restaurants and don’t skimp.

Paul is right. As well, after having been in Mexico on and off for 12 years. There are 2 other VERY IMPORTANT times to consider antiparasitic. Not to be gross.
1.) If you’ve had agressive, watery diarrhea for more than 12 hours.
2.) for good measure, it’s a good idea to take a box back for each person (that was traveling with you) ESPECIALLY if you live in the US or EU. It is VERY EXPENSIVE AND HARD TO GET in US specifically.
I have personally known many people that return home, have bad diarrhea for weeks. Continue to get misdiagnosed ( COSTLY $) and end up in ER. When a 5$ vermox or other would have saved them.
FYI the equivalent in US cost $450 per dose and doctors are VERY hesitant to get.
I’ve literally had to drive people across the boder to get them treated.
Good news is antiparasitics usually work within a few hours and you’re much better by the next day!
    Just my experiences

First pill you took to start your diet. You took the second pill when you reached the desired weight.
First pill was a tapeworm ( no matter what you ate the tapeworm eats first )
Second pill was to kill the tapeworm. I imagine that tickles coming out.
Unfortunately, the second pill didn't always kill the tapeworm and a resulting bowel obstruction could kill the subject.

I think Loxcell may work but in my experience you need prescribed medicine if you have a bonafide parasite infection with severe symptoms. I think it depends on how strong your immune system is also. Your white blood cells fight parasites, if your WBC count is low you will get parasites more easily. The probiotic Floristor is great for building up your immune system and WBC count to help fight parasite infections, imho.

Properly washing produce and cooking meats/seafood should take of it. This drug has some pretty serious potential side effects, so taking it without knowing you’re actually infected might not be the best thing, especially if you live where clean water is widely available and sanitation standards in restaurants is high.

You don't have to take it NOB probably due to the other chemical treatment of fruits and veggies coming in from Mexico!
The trade-off is the more natural state of these foods SOB, which require thoroughly washing and/or treatment during food prep there.
Then, as you show us, twice a year with the one pill.
Probably, on the whole, healthier food there? I can't help but think it would be, considering whatever the USA sprays the incoming food items with requires those workers to wear hazmat suits!

Everybody's gastrointestinal (GI) system is different. And Mexicans don't get sick because they are probably used to the water and food that is not always cleaned or purified. Personally, my GI system is very sensitive ever since I was very young and especially when traveling and in Mexico. I do take these precautions whenever I eat or drink: 1). I buy 'purified' or spring water from the grocery store but I also have an under the sink filter installed in my condo which you can get from amazon. 2) I take a probiotic pill (such as Florastor) and eat probiotic foods (fermented cabbage) almost daily when I am in Mexico. 3) I always heat very well, any take-out food that I bring from the grocery store. 4) alcohol tends to irritate my GI and I only drink bottled alcohol, such as beer or wine on the rare occasion. 5) And lately, I have been taking something called NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine). This is an over the counter antioxidant in which a lot of research was done to show that it detoxifies the liver or kidney from certain harmful substances (drugs, insecticides, but not parasites). It is also given in a medical setting such as for tylenol poisoning (sorry for the Off topic)....... As far as taking any pill for PARASITES? Well, I think that may or may not be helpful and if you take the necessary precautions, you may be able to avoid parasites from being absorbed into your body. Thankfully, I am never constipated and the occasional diarrhea might actually be helpful to expel these parasites from the body! Hey, Thanks Paul !
