Congratulations! What a coincidence that I left the dealership life to fleet service a few months before you. Best decision ever career wise! I'm glad your advancing and enjoying what you do. I feel fleet service renewed my love for the mechanic field in seeing the fruits of my labor first hand, when I help a driver get up and running. I hope the young guys see there are other sectors in the automotive field to make a living in.
Congrats man 🎉 You inspired me to make a career switch. Ive been a web designer/marketing (drained and unhappy). All my homies are mechanics and excited ill be starting an apprenticeship program as an entry level diesel tech 🤙🏼
Congrats Nick, glad to see you’re thriving in the fleet world! It’s been awesome to see your journey not only on UA-cam, but your progression in your automotive career! You deserve this man, happy for you! 🤙🏼🤙🏼
That’s awesome Nick! We are all proud of you. I’m 21 and my first job at 17 was as an Equipment Mechanic I worked on light duty. I took a few years off but am back in school at my local community college for automotive. I wanna become a EV specialist is my current goal. Any advice?
Congrats bro, I was on second shift when I first switched to the heavy truck side for 2.5 years. I actually liked it until having a kid, was fortunate to finally switch to days. Good luck in your new position 🤙🏻
Damn just discovered your channel and i need to get out of the dealer technician world pretty much in the position you were in in your older videos just on the honda side but im stuck
Check your local government agency's. Usually there is a site that has all local government jobs and you can pick mechanic jobs. When they open up, you get alerted and just upload your credentials and resume. Government mechanic jobs usually pay better, have a pension, and have government perks. Best wishes.
I appreciate these videos being really helpful in my situation. im currently 17 in high school, and still debating which automotive field i want to pursue and its a pretty tricky choice ngl. Not 100% sure if i want to work in diesel fleet or auto tech/ mechanic.
I rec going to diesel, you will make more money in the long run vs automotive, professionally speaking. They also go hand in hand so nothings stopping you from doing diesel for work and doing automotive for fun/hobby. From my experience, once you turn your passion or hobby into a career it becomes less of a passion/fun hobby since you are doing it everyday because you have to vs because you want to.
Congratulations on the achievement dude. I'm old and i just got back into automotive service and repair. I'm a T-TEN drop out. I left to drive trucks. Now im on week 3 as lead tech at a pepboys. I did 3 years at Lexus. Everything is exactly the same. Same BS just what you make of it. TF's 1234yf? Lol not as fun as i remember. Real cut throat and back stabby. Wish you the all best, dude. I hope to get my car to AVS soon.
Thanks man and yea the entire industry is pretty cut throat if you ask me. Wish it wasnt this way but sadly it is. Hell yea lmk when your going out there next! Just dialed in my build today ready to get back out there.

Depends on your job position there entry level mechanics are around $50 an hour, Bumper to bumper mechanics are at $61, I am not at $62 an hour as a sub foreman. Pay is based off your job title more than how many years you put in.
Congrats! funny to see your transition in the heavy duty diesel side, bringing back memories good and bad 😅 I was a 2nd year auto apprentice and then left to go pump diesel fuel for more money, moved up quick as us auto guys typically do. I hated the road and mobile work myself, if you actually enjoy it you will never be out of a job that is for sure. As you have found the only way out of shift work is a lot of time in or more responsibility, definitely hit them up for more money frequently, you will be a crusty old dude with a shot back and knees doing annual inspections on the ground soon enough lol Now that I am licensed I desperately wish I stuck it out and got my auto as well so I would be dual licensed, much more options and puts you at the top of the list for a lot of places, the heavy diesel fleet is a young mans game, unless you can find a chill shop with lifts, haven't found that shop yet and if it exists there's probably a catch... Good luck and be safe, stay rested and keep all eyes open when on the road, had many close calls myself, scared the hell out of my family, tell the driver to be useful and watch your 6.
Congrats Nick...all that TTEN experience is paying off! You're set now, and you should have more time to play with your cars at Grange!
Hell yea taking her back to the dyno next week fingers crossed this time goes better.
Congrats man! Just found your channel a couple days ago because im considering becoming a mechanic, really enjoying the content!
Can be an awesome career if you make it one!

Thanks I am so glad I looked beyond just working at the dealer, I was getting pretty fed up with it and only did it for 10 years.

Awesome! What do you think about somebody attempting a solo independent mobile diesel?
I think if you provide reliable and good service you can do pretty well.
So what’s the pay? 150k
The real question is what’s the pay?
Is T-Ten worth it?
congrats
Congratulations, 100 miles commute in traffic that blows.
Yes sir!
Utilities is the way to go. Day shifts 4/10 or 3/12. 100k to 130k
How does someone get into utilities?

Next upgrade is a airplane mechanic
I don't know how I feel about that, I already hate the liability I have repairing on road vehicles, can't imagine the liability for aircrafts.
Pretty great man. Cheers and congratulations man. So stoked. 👊👍💪👊🔧🔩❤️
Hell yea
Congratulations bro ! Do you make more less money as a foreman? 🤔
A little more since you have more opportunities for overtime but the hourly pay is the same as what I was at.
Pay?
Yes paid.
Hey nick I hate to ask but back to car instead diesel how much were you making when you were on mechanic car mechanic
When I left Toyota as a Toyota master/hybrid certified in 2021 I was at $31 flatrate and offered $34 when I quit
Is a cdl required?
Depends where you work, For me it wasn't required upon being hired but must have within a given timeframe after that if you want to keep your job.
Follow , The Diesel Dog alot of info working on heavey line and fleet
How much is the pay? $100k?
A little more. I cleared 100k my first year as an entry level tech.
