Very good videos! I am building a 1/3 scale version of the Hemmingway Mill engine Circa 1850 There are some 1/12 scale ones on UA-cam! I redrew and made the patterns in 1/3 scale and they have been cast in iron at a local foundry here in Ireland. Your work in very good. I was watching your work making the piston rings. My piston is 3.125 x 1.25 inches. I have made the crankshaft, eccentrics, governor and lots more parts as well The fly wheel measures 28 inches (800 mm ) and weighs 7 stone ( about 50 kilos) Did you make all the engines yourself?
Thanks Mike, your steam engine must be an interesting project. And you make the castings yourself! Trying to make piston rings yourself was an experiment. I wanted to know if I could do it. Of approximately 7 piston rings, 3 made it into the cylinder. I built most of my models myself. Some from Stuart or from blueprints or from German casting sets. This engine, for which the piston and piston rings were manufactured, is a restoration. Year of manufacture perhaps 1930. Greetings to Ireland Michael
@@MichaelS3013 Thanks for the reply! I made the patterns from wood and got them cast in a local iron foundry! I am 67 years old and not very good with computers. I will try to send photos to you if you give me your email.
@@223mikeHi Mike, It would definitely be interesting for me to find out more about your project and castings. I also looked up this mill motor on UA-cam. Unfortunately, there is no option on UA-cam to send my email address privately to you. Do you know the English Model Engine Maker Forum? There is a lot of interesting information and members there. I'm represented there too. And there we could exchange information and pictures and emails. And I think other model makers would also be very interested in learning how to make castings themselves. best regards Michael www.modelenginemaker.com
