Ice Cream Hummingbird Feeder-EASY DIY Bird Feeder Nectar Recipe-Ant Tips Attract 100+ Birds & Oriole

- We have 1000's of Hummingbirds now in our vegetable garden. See this DIY Hummingbird ICE CREAM Containers bring in the birds, Easy Cheap Hummingbird Feeder that our hummers just love with the hummingbird nectar recipe here; brings here 1000's with them having babies everywhere too, and the Oriole birds also, as we feed them all daily, and all have nesting here. 1/4 cup White Sugar to 1 Cup of Water, that is it. These birds bring joy to our garden daily.
Note for those that did not do their research, here are the findings that I have done: The small amount of cement mixed with sandbox sand, is used as a weight, and the paint is NON-TOXIC just painted where the label is on the inside if someone wants to do it. NO PART of the hummingbird nectar ever is NEAR or in contact with either paint or the filler anyways, and it is not air tight, as there are holes on the top. The tray easier comes out to clean daily. Everyone has a right to their opinion, but nothing is toxic here. And all is child safe. (Paint in Calif. is all non-toxic, and most of the USA, are all Non-toxic now too). Homes are now being made from CONCRETE CEMENT and Concrete Blocks, Studies have deemed it safe for homes, “presenting no health risk.”
The icecream company should reward you for the generous promo u did for them 🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍
I love how u go the extra mile for God's beautiful little creation love you Robbie
Well, lets just say these days I do not want the feeders to ever get empty, or they buzz around me like bees, demanding filling of all feeders, they are very demanding birds, and happy birds. Thanks, Robbie
My wife yells at me for saving plastic coffee containers. Now, I've found a use!
You are so fortunate to have so many hummingbirds visiting your home. The hummingbirds only visit my home for a month or two at a time. You're so blessed.
She is poisoning them with icecream
@@MrKako71 Watch the video before you comment 🙄
Hi, just a note to the FEW people that seemed to be concerned on a couple things; First, the paint in California is basically all non-toxic now, I buy the cheap "tester" paints from Lowe's and Home-depot, those are Non-Toxic CHILD SAFE. AND the paint I used here NEVER is even in contact with the nectar tray, nothing touches that clean tray with the food. Second, I did research Cement, and all the research I have found is, it is safe, as Homes are now being constructed completely out of poured Concrete Cement, walls, floors, foundations, basement walls and so forth...and once dried it is safe. Keep in mind birdbaths and water fountains are made of cement too. BUT again, the tray is food side UP, cement and paint is never in any contact with the food inside and this container, AND it is NOT air tight anyways as the lid is full of holes. I do feel, everyone has the right to their opinion, but this is child safe and we all do the best we can with everything, Thanks so much, Robbie

PEOPLE SOMETIMES UGH 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
I know you research and would never hurt them!
Keep doing you!!
Can you give us the food recipe. Please.
I came for the positive vibes...makes my day
Much better idea than painting little plastic condiment cups red inside. Having to ask for extra cups at fast food restaurants.
I enjoy watching your videos between 2AM to 5AM to help lull me back to sleep. Also happy to eat many dishes of ice cream to empty out my containers quicker.
I didn’t have any cement available for my container so I substituted gravel rocks which adds enough weight to the ice cream container. Thanks for sharing your creative, sweet and enthusiastic bird feeder projects with the rest of the world. It’s what the world needs more of. 🕊️
You’re such a cheerful happy lady. I really appreciate all your videos , tips and of course the work you do for hummers and nature !!! Bless you. 🥰.
I had no idea Orioles ate from these feeders. Thank you so much for showing how to make these.
You bet! Take care, Thanks 😊
Another awesome reason to get a bucket (or two) of ice cream next time I'm in the store. THANK YOU! Just what I needed to know today! :)
Well, this is one of the greatest excuses, worth it for us to do for those beautiful birds, thanks Robbie
I made this but they want try it
I think the land o lake butter containers would be cool too
Its solid white with a lipped red top. The info can also be easily scrubbed off! ❤️
They would! I make this style out of many other containers too, Thank you, Robbie
Fabulous! You are so creative Robbie. I love all your DYIs.
Oh thanks, Love Robbie
Rather than mixing & messing with cement, I just fill the container with sand, gravel or stones to provide weight. GOOD VIDEO!
I do it many ways also, cement really keep them in place, and easy to keep clean, as you can just rinse and dump as needed. I also have some with sand and rocks/stones, the sand needs to be dumped out and changed and the stones need cleaning...I have easier other ways too, that I have worked with now, hope to get a video up on how easy to do it, coming after the holidays, THANK YOU, Robbie
I’m so excited. I just finished a plastic container of ice cream and it’s ALL red! How perfect is that. I can’t what to make it into a hummingbird feeder!
Thanks Robbie something to make me smile when I've just been signing petitions for horrible animal abuse stories. It's so nice to hear and see lovely people taking care of animals just because : )
Thank you Angela U! Take care, Robbie
I absolutely love your yard and your view is spectacular! And I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for teaching me your hummingbird food recipe I have used it for years now and I have told so many people about it. And you will be happy to know I was looking for things in my hardware store the last weekend and a woman started raving to me about a hummingbird fountain that she was going to make because there’s this lady you in line with thousands of hummingbirds and I knew exactly who she was talking about 🥰😘❤️
"Let's go home, get rid of the _ice cream._ I'll just have to eat it all up."
Ah, the sacrifices one must make for the sake of Art. =)
Robbie I just LOVE you channel. I have but a humble little patio...and hummingbirds and butterflies in our neighborhood too. (i too am in So Cal like you) You give so many ideas and information, thank you! I have kept missing the hummingbird feeders at dollar stores ( and even garden stores) , and so far no much luck with making one. But i am not giving up because hummingbirds visit me everyday! I think they know....and see my flowers building up. I'll keep you posted!
Your posts are so interesting and entertaining! And your love of these beautiful hummingbirds is amazing. Your feeders show your care for the earth by being a great recycler! I'm just starting to learn about how to create a hummingbird garden so your videos and enthusiasm are a great motivator! Thank you!
Thank you very much!
Very best idea and you have enough containers so they don't fight over the nectar. Enjoyed your videos very much
WE now have so many feeders everywhere, thanks so much, Robbie
She said,"very smart birds". I think that She is a Very Smart Lady !! 🦋🐦🌹
You are so wonderful & I just love your videos. You inspire me in so many ways. I stopped editing my video just to watch your video. Thanks so much! Have a great weekend.
Just so fun with all these hummingbirds now, I have to buy 25 pound bags of sugar now, thanks so very much, Robbie
Great video,I took lid from ice cream and on bottom side glued small Tupperware container upside down.put lid on ice cream container containing enough sand to hold sturdy. Then filled with nector through holes on top.what fun things you spark in me.
Robbie's enthusiasm and Love for her Hummers is so Contagious. I JUST FOUND THIS ON UA-cam! I have made some of my feeders but she leaves me standing still. Such a great site for Scouts and teachers too. Dr. P W S

You come up with wonderful ways to feed birds I would have never thought of.
OMG, they love it, the easiest thing to make, the so easy for them to feed from, Thanks, Robbie
My daughter got the cutest mason jar feeders at Walmart. They’re just tiny jars, with little pink flowers. But the jars are a perfect size for this. I can’t wait to make some. 😊
Robbie you are crazy, but good crazy. Any one who loves birds is OK in my book.
Thank you!
This is FANTASTIC! I have a new Hummingbird DYI! Thank you so much!
Wonderful bird footage! Fun idea and love your enthusiasm
You need to eat more ice cream so they have more containers for them. Gonna try this now. Lol.
😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋 if you say so...thanks, Robbie
Thank you for the video I can't wait to try this cuz I don't have any feeders I need to make some so thank you appreciate it and I can't wait to sit and watch them
This is my favorite video on hummingbirds.
Thank you, I just love all the hummingbirds and they are always checking me out to see what I have, thanks, Robbie
I am so sorry you received comments. People never cease to amaze me anymore. People would rather lash out pointing fingers than doing a little research. Unfortunately stupid is contagious! I appreciate you and the videos you share.
That is absolutely crazy! You are so crafty! I would never have thought of using ice cream containers! So clever! Thank you for sharing!
YOU ARE SO TALENTED AND CREATIVE AND SMART AND INTELLIGENCE AND INVENTED THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING LOVE HUMMING BIRD'S.

I can’t believe it. This really works!!
Ingenious idea! Thanks for sharing!
Thank yo so much, Robbie
You love birds ... God bless you.
this lady can talk a blue streak !
I'm doing your idea, but with some dollar store food containers that I had. I am in central NC, and am hoping to attract the Orchard Oriole and more humming birds. I have one pair of humming birds, then I made the condiment cup feeders and put them in a planter with a trellis like you showed with yellow and red celosia and I had my pair using those little feeders the day after I put them out! Your ideas and energy have helped me a lot! Your videos always make me smile and cheer me up! Thanks, Robbie, so much! ❤
Your so upbeat and creative! You go girl!!
How can a one give her a thumbs down? I absolutely love her! Her videos inspire me! ❤️❤️❤️👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I love all your feeder ideas. Thank you. Fun.
A hummingbird favorite ❤️
Unbelievable !!! You go girl.....😊
Just too fun, thanks so much, Robbie
All I can focus on is your amazing view! Looks like a great place to live. And oh yes, the hummingbird feeders are great!
Great ways to reuse that plastic!!! Love these ideas! I shared 2 of your videos to FB! I love Hummingbirds the way you do!
Awesome! Thank you! The hummingbirds Love this feeders so much, will do another one soon on feeders, take care, again thank you
Thanks for the ice cream feed yes I going to try to fix me one ❤😊

I love the ice cream feeders , will eat ice cream this winter and make several next year . I know you get tired of people being negative . Thank you for sharing .
Sandra, thank you so much....some people do not watch the videos and they just comment without thinking...Not much I can do, but at least there are SO SO SO many wonderful positive loving people out there, like you! Thank you so much, Robbie
Such a great idea! Thanks so much! I love all birds but the humming birds are my favorite! Sooooo sweet!
LOVE YOUR CHANNEL AND PERSONALITY
Thank you, just love sharing the hummingbirds that are here now, thanks, Robbie
Wow!!. This was very useful for me. I was struggling with my feeder for sunbirds. They were afraid to sit when the feeder shakes & also got squirrels which was frequently visiting the feeder shaking & spilling. Now I put the feeder in a box & applied neem oil at the bottom where the birds can't reach. The smell will repel squirrel & ants😊
cool! I have mint chip in my frig. I will try it when it is empty. Thank you for sharing.
Mint Chip is great! Blue Bunny ice cream is fairly new here for Calif. and I think it is one of the best now. We must sacrifice ourselves for our hummingbirds...(good excuse) thanks, Robbie
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy You got that right. Love you/
Very creative, I like it. thank you
Just too fun, thanks, Robbie
Such a cute idea! But how long does the nectar last? How often are you filling it?
Genius!!! 🦋♥️🦋 bees take a drink from our feeders.
Than you need bee guards during the warmer months, IF they become a pest. Yes, with the right hole, the bees simply can not reach it, thanks so very, Robbie
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy oh they have not been a problem, I don't mind if they drink. Bees okay with me. Not a problem at all.
Thank you so much for all of these! And that Oriole... Lol... Trying to shove even more in his mouth.
Love this idea. You are so creative!
Thank you! 😊
You’re so sweet! Nectar sweet! Reminds me of summers at Eaton’s Ranch in Wolf Wyoming! First time I’d ever seen so many hummingbirds! They would have air wars just like humans having dog fights in airplanes from WW2! This way , with so many feeders they won’t fight! Thanks so much because I thought you had to hang feeders! I’m going to have happy Hummers in Mn now thanks to you!
Thank you, Robbie
Fun time girl!
I look at items different when I shop now. Picked up a particlar sandwich meat simply bc I could reuse container as a hummingbird feeder. And I have my aunt saving her peanut butter jars for me. lol. Thanks Robbie!
I love it Robbi! I have seen an oriole feeding in my ocotillo and want to attract more. I will have to try this! Thank you ❤️
You are soooooo much fun Thank you! I shared
Love just giving out ideas, thank you so much, Robbie
This is so cool. Love it.
You are eating too much ice cream! LOL
Love your yard and your inventiveness!
So true 😁, but I will say, Gary eats more then me during the hot season, THANKS, Robbie
So original!
That it is, but after all there are all kinds of hummingbird feeders out there, this one is just different and made from a food safe container, thanks, Robbie
Oh Robbie......you are my hero!!
Thank you, Robbie
Hi, Robbie. I love your videos. I have been canning today and binge watching/listening to your videos.
Oh how fun, and great! Thank you, Robbie
Robbie I love your solar water fountains.. I have 2 Hummers that I feed every day...i have 8 feeders hoping to get more.. I live in Wisconsin so I know mine will be leaving soon.. I love when the fly past my head and go right to the feeders.. I will miss them when they leave.. I love your videos since I have a patio garden and Hummers.. Not like yours of coarse lucky girl..
Hugs from Wisconsin.. My Daughter used to live in Orange County but moved back home ....❤❤
Hi Regina, yes, they will be doing that long trip very soon, but in the meantime you still have birds that winter there all year, maybe do something for them. AND as far as your Daughter, she is smart, it is just to expensive to live here, so I am sure home is much better for all kinds of reasons, thank you, Love Robbie
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy I do I put suet out all winter for the woodpeckers and others and I always keep my 12 bird feeders. I put out seeds such a safflower seeds sunflower seeds and just a mixed variety of Finch foods and all that I love watching birds are so funny but I love your water fountains idea that give me some inspiration thank you. Love Regina
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy I'm addicted to your videos. I've been watching them all day I go back as far as they can to the most current. You've been a very busy lady with your birds and your gardening. Thumbs up. You sound a lot like me.
Great recycle idea. Love it you are angel 😇
Oh Wow, Thank you! 😊
Inspired by your videos, I am making mini feeders from disposable plastic cups and spice container shaker lids - I remove all but 2" of the cup and remove the solid cover of the spice lid - that leaves me with a small container and a spice lid with holes. I carefully clean them both and then fill the cup with sugar water and drop in the lid and hang on a garden pole (I poke holes in the sides for string). My regular hummingbird feeders seem to get mold no matter what I do - these mini containers cost me nothing and if they get mold, I can just throw them out (without feeling bad about blowing money on a feeder). Thanks for your brilliant ideas.
The only concern I have with the concrete is making sure that the lid and sugar water container are cleaned of any cement dust - cement dust is nasty stuff.
I have many other ways to make these now too, but no cement dust at all, works great. I too have so many homemade feeders like yours, I just love making them, thanks for all this, take care, Robbie
Another great idea. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! Take care, Robbie
Good idea I was saving the same icecream container to make little planters for my chile plants! But now I am going to make a bird feeder 💁🏻♀️🐦🐥🐤
I made my first water fountain from your direction!
I need more ice cream! Bunny tracks is my favorite!
Me too 😀❤️
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy I did it! I hope they can find it. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Awesome video Robbie! 🙏🙏🙏

I was just in the local hardware store and they were selling Hummingbird feeders from 30 bucks to 45 bucks. From now on my bird feeders are going to be old peanut butter or ice cream containers. Thank you.
OMG! YOU'RE AN ABSOLUTE GENIUS! That is amazing stuff to use as humming bird feeders. I love it. I'm gonna make some when I go back to NM!
The birds just love this style of feeder, Thank you so much! Love, Robbie
You are making me so good for the hummingbirds 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I'm so glad!
This is such a wonderful idea! Thank you Robbie, you are so creative!
Thank you so much, Robbie
Now I have to go buy some ice cream.
Great ideas and inexpensive! I will give this a try. I have 3 feeders I bought from the store and I have about 5 to 10 hummingbirds feeding
SO COOL!!!! Thank you :) I didn't have cement, so I used old-dry-garden dirt to fill the container. Works GREAT!!!
You can use anything with some weight, even water, rocks, cardboard...Check out this newer video, this will work for you better, take care ua-cam.com/video/ioib8CK0Vyk/v-deo.html
I’m going to try sand, I have 2 bags of sand for weight U used in my car during the winter.
Hi Robbie I absolutely love Hummingbirds and I love your channel. It’s really neat how you make those feeders from the Ice Cream containers.
I love your backyard also. Take care from your new subscriber JoAnn. 🌺🌸🌻🐿🐞🐇😘😇💕
Thank you so much JoAnn T, some things I just do for fun, these birds here will try almost anything I bring out to them, they know me, and are also very demanding. Love that you are a new Subscriber, will get more things up soon on hummingbirds, thank you again, Robbie
LOLZ "Get rid of the ice cream. (We'll just have to eat it all up.)" xD This is my all-time favorite You Tube video - I laughed most of the way through. ("nobody's old!") And I'm with you on the mint chip, nomz! Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful ideas, and in such a fun way. You're da best, Robbie, love ya. :) Blessings!
We all need a good laugh, so glad you enjoyed this; I just love feeding all these birds. I just can not believe how their numbers have built up here, but it is nice to see them come in when they need food, no matter how many miles they take off to hunt for flowers and insects, they always know there is food here, THANKS SO VERY MUCH, Robbie
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy So sweet - your picture is in their little bird dictionary next to the word "angel" - it's a great blessing to them, for sure. They have a hard life. I find myself worrying over them sometimes, like when the hawks start hovering over our yard. Like a crazy person I yell at the hawks and shake my fist, telling them to go catch rats instead of little birds. Neighbors must wonder what's wrong with me, haha. So you're precious encouraging people to feed them and all. God bless you, dear heart!
How super cute that it looks like they are eating ice cream. Also maybe paint flowers on the outsides of these. So super cute! Is painting the outside too much work and you'll have too much left over. yeah, I get that. Just a thought, decorating these cute tubs.
I wish the Illinois hummingbirds loved the bird bath fountain and the feeders. Only have about 3-4 birds.
3 or 4 is great, that is how we started, thanks so much, Robbie
