I'll say it again: greatest lyrics ever (well, kinda)... inspired by Herman Hesse's novel, no doubt. DRI and many other thrash and punk bands inspired me to START READING BOOKS, way back in the 80's. and in many ways, this saved my ass, or at least opened doors to strange universes. btw, even read Kurt Brecht's books, one about living in a nest; the other 'bout eating stale magic mushrooms in mexico. life goes on, long live heavy rock!

They actually of the narrow minded writers back then didn't accept any genre mix and stucked to the bone old school classics like Maiden,Ozzy ,Manowar,Acdc,Sabbath...
They also totally ignored AOR also called "PopMetal" and bands like Ratt, Journey and many many more...
The result was that as this magazine.was the one.and.only source of knowledge in a conservative class back then which I additionally lived in a.small.midtown which you didn't have more things to do or enjoy,I found out all of this bands at least with 15 years and more delay

@XImStillCycoX You have now idea how right you are! I saw D.R.I for my first time when I was 15. I'm now 38, saw them last year after the Super Bowl for a midnight show and seeing them again at the end of January. It's a band you must see!!!
Wish more ppl from this gen. realized what you do.

it is subjective, but this album wasn't really crossover, it was thrash music, punk vocals.

Like Exploited I they're great at both Metal and Punk.

Not all thrash has a legitimate amount of punk elements to be considered crossover. Their early stuff was a lot more hardcore punk than this album was, the vocals were still punk like, but the music was a bit more thrash metal. Sub genre's can get confusing sometimes, because thrashcore is not necessarily the same thing as cross over thrash.

Started going to a cellar pub, ''Arties'' Saturday afternoons when I was 13-14, only place in Cape Town, South Africa which hosted the small Thrash/Goth/Alternative scene at the time...Black Label beer, joints in the Alley and of course moshing/slamming....God that was fun, DRI, SOD, ST, Slayer, Nuc Assault, Anthrax, etc etc...
