You're absolutely right, especially today when talentless assholes like Jake and Logan Paul, Rice Gum and the equally talentless ignorant imbecile Jeremy from CinemaSins, make millions of dollars and have millions of subscribers, while the likes of the hugely talented Nathan Barnatt and his team don't get the fame and recognition they truly deserve.
It's been 12 years, and I miss this era of everything. Not just YT bullshit and algorithms, but in general 2010-2012 or so was a much more forgiving time to be alive. On and off the internet.
The sheer amount of work that had to have gone into this is phenomenal. Not only is the tune remix beyond catchy but the direction is superb. It's just a genuine happy moment that sticks in your head and makes you smile. Well done everyone involved, the 821 down marks on this must be from people allergic to fun.
Almost 10 years later and it’s still just as incredible as when it first came out. Thank you Nathan Barnatt for teaching me from such a young age that’s it’s totally okay and actually super fun(!!) to unapologetically be myself :)
I applaud the patience that both the videographer & editor must have had. I'm an older editor now that's burned out. But even when I was in my younger prime I wouldn't have had the patience to edit something like that. I'm always impressed with a Barnatt video (and impressed with everybody in them too).
As a video editor, myself, I agree with you. Sorry that you've burned out. It takes a lot out of you and I don't think I have it in me as much anymore either. However, whenever my kids have a video project I make sure they get the best grade, lol.
I watched this 9 years ago and loved it, the energy is amazing, the way it was shot and filmed was creative, the choreography was goofy and lovable and you can tell the all effort put into it. Couldn't find it for 9 years until now and I still loved every second of it each clip fills me with joy and makes me want to jump in the video and dance with him.
I just want to say that this has been my happy video for more than 7 years. I don't even know how many times I've seen it, hundreds? It never fails to cheer me up when I'm feeling down and it ALWAYS makes me want to dance. Thank you.
Man 3:00 gives me chills, the synchronization and music crescendo is so, so good. It's almost empowering, like I suddenly feel like I could go out and do anything. And the editing is just mindblowing. Insanely good.
I remember when it came out. 2011 was a horrible year for me, just suffered a really bad breakup, and this video helped cheer me up. I come to it sometimes when I feel like crap -- instant pick-me-up.
Nathan, I know the channel isn't doing too great recently but this video still brings a smile to my face 10 years later. You will always be one of the OGs of UA-cam.
12 years later and I still think about this video pretty much everyday. Nathan, you made me want to be a dancer, all those years ago. I’m no longer a dancer but absolutely loved it when I was. I still pick it up, from time to time.
11 years and this song still rocks my world. such a good video. times are a little different now but it would be so cool to see another video like this.
After almost 14 years I discover this masterpiece, I heard the song by Madeon like 12 years ago and the nostalgic hit me now so I cameback to hear it and found this, Nathan you are a Legend, thanks for this
I came back to this video after so long, it made me rediscover what made me branch out of life. It made me remember what made me want to express myself more. It was one of those things that subtly changed my life. Thank you for creating this.
Watching this 10 years later, after the Creator Clash of 2022. Dad has ALWAYS been an unbridled, unfettered ball of energy and pure physicality. Shout out to Matt Watson, because I don't think many of us would be so ballsy as to try to step into the ring with the force of nature that is Dad. At least he lasted 22 seconds, which is about 21 seconds longer than I would have lasted.
I woke up this morning with some pretty severe self doubt coming in, basically crying before dawn and well into the sunrise...which, led me to watching a video about going against conformity, and then this very song popping in my head after years of not watching this masterpiece, and it helped. I don't know who else needs to hear this in 2024, but be you. Don't fight how your own spirit breaths and thrives. Don't let this world trick you into believing something is wrong with you because you're different. Maybe you're someone who just sees life differently, thinks differently, and communicates differently. God, The All, Source, The Universe...whatever you want to call it, made your soul in such a unique way, that it would be blasphemy to become someone other that who you truly are within. I didn't get the privilige of finding you sooner Nathan (discovered Dad through the upcoming Creator Clash), but since I did, I've watched many of your's, Keith's and Dads' content. Plus several of your commercials and short films (as well as Keith's trolling of that news for that music video, kicking the water dispenser was genuius lol). I don't you'll see this, just know that your consistent hard work, diversity in skills and content (dancing, act, and now boxing, hello!) and cheery/goofy persona(s) is nothing short of legendary. It's such a refreshing and welcoming constant. While some of your work may not achieved the success it deserved, your second chance thanks to Dad proved your creativity and resilience is admirable and insprational. You deserve all the success you've earned and then some. I wish nothing but the best for you. P.S. Please let Dad know he's the best there is and I'm rooting for him to knock out Matt Wattson
The next 10 years are going to go by so fast it will make you realize the next 40 of your life will be be a montage of decades that could fit into the span of this video. I know I could live my life over two more times if I survive to 90 years old. And even IF my memory doesn't falter, I know the entire span will seem to have gone by just as quickly as my life from birth to present.
Remrie Arrie It makes sense though. When you are 1 year old, 100% of your life has been in that year. When you are 10, that year makes up 10%....and so on. That's why each year feels shorter, because it's a less amount of your total life each time.
Nukcall I find redundancy basically shortens your perception of life. That is to say life from 0 to 20 can be absolutely amazing on so many levels. Even though you have school, it's not terribly redundant. At least not until videogames came around. :P But 20-40 is largely get up, go to work, get home, recover, repeat all just to pay bills and maybe do something interesting a couple times a year. For most people, those interesting things are just redundant traditions like Christmas that seem the same every year I try to make a point to not get stuck in a treadmill in many ways. And I'm mad that the last 5 years (25-30) has just been the work/recover cycle while 20-25 involved a lot of wild crazy things that didn't involve alcohol, drugs, sex, and it seemed like a much more extensive period of time that didn't go by in a blip, but the past 5 years barely amounted to much more than a blip and a few job changes.
that's only a partial explanation. part of it is also the novelty of experiences: as a baby, everything that you encounter is a novel experience, and as such, has more impact. as time goes on, you stop perceiving things as novel, and as such, your surroundings blur into long, incoherent stretches of time. it happened "at work one time," "in the living room one summer," and as there are greater and greater gaps between novel moments, life ceases to imprint a memory onto you to even remember, because why bother storing another diurnal rerun? it's new experiences that make life longer, regardless of how long it's lived. anyway, i recommend LSD.
Nathan, I loved this video when I was little, but after I've gotten some experience in video editing, I'm only now realizing how damn smooth this is. The composition of shots and how cleanly you keep yourself in the center between shots is fucking butter man, I love it.

After seeing this amazing video……I started seeing Nathan everywhere, in all the shows I would watch, he would have some small Stan Lee-like cameo moment and never be seen again. Always left me wanting more
I see i commented on this 10 years ago and again 5 years ago. This video is so amazingly well done, not to mention the remix by Madeon and all the unreal samples he used... it's all pure brilliance
I fucking KNEW I saw "Dad" somewhere else. Even if i didn't follow you back then, I loved this video as it came out and had it in many playlists. As a German probably not that common to stumble upon you 2 times nearly 10 years apart for two complete different reasons... I am truly baffled right now
I love this video so much because it is a heavily sampled song mixed with a heavily sampled video. It's like little puzzle pieces that build together into a masterpiece
This video is such a treasure. Awesome music and marvelous dance moves. It’s seriously my favorite video. I will NEVER get sick of it. Thank you a Nathan!!!
This just hit me with a strong helping of nostalgia. I found my old iPod, and Pop Culture came on. Had to come back and watch this. Apart from being really fun, it’s a video that’s just really wholesome and genuine. So refreshing to see something that isn’t begging viewers to subscribe or trying to get you to download a VPN.
people love to talk about how we have no way to define the 2010s.. but when you read the comments on all your videos, everyone just is here to reminisce about the purity of the format that still existed back then. thank you for keeping that spirit alive in us who have held on through pieces like this
I first saw this when I was in 7th grade and it has been my absolute dream, ever since, to do this entire dance at a talent show, or something. I'm 20 and in college, now, and the dream has yet to come true (because I don't know all the moves, yet lol), but that's why I'm here brushing up to prepare for my future time to shine!
I've watched Madeon - Pop Culture video a lot but this was first time I saw your video of it. How can I have missed it? Loved your use of the "It takes two..." (Gossip - Heavy Cross) part. =)
i will never not just be put in good mood by this video. if im ever in relationship i want it to be with someone who will just goofy dance with me on moments notice.
It all started for me watching Nathan Barnett “fall” down some steps in full storm trooper armor at a con. Dude has incredible talent and shaped my humor growing up. Stuff like this is timeless. Thank you for making it ☺️
seen this video like 50 times during the years, but never notice Nathan running to the camera on the left side on the screen the last few seconds of the video :P
This makes me miss the purer times of youtube, before the day of the algorithms and the bell, when people with talent got the exposure they deserved
and wehn youtubers weren't influencers and cash grabers.
so true.
Hard same.
most viewed are the older ones. True!

10 years ago this guy had the moves, and tonight he showed he's still got 'em IN THE RING! dingdingding
But...Nathan didn't fight anyone? I think you've got him confused with Dad.
@@notlargerthanlife I get the confusion, they do look fairly similar xD.
@notlargerthanlife it's the same guy, just a different character 😆
Even with hits like this, I dare to say Nathan is criminally underrated.
For real. I just found out about him ten minutes ago... Screw the people who made money off his work without even giving him crédit. 😠
this used to play here in new zealand on a tv show called tvnz u live on tv channel tvnz U
now 2024 :(
2 things
1. I love the little snippet of dare in this song.
2. Dad is ripped.
back when youtube was "Broadcast Yourself"
this comment just made me so sad... 😭😭
Susan be wilding vro
ima bring it back
it would be nice if a website similar to youtube would try to bring back that style of content
Damn. That got me in the feels. It use to be so good when everything was a jewel because it was just people being themselves.
Dad looks happy.
He's always happy.
Yeah you are happy when you don’t have the pestilence.
😭😭😭
That’s what truly matters
I knew I recognized dad from somewhere. I just couldn't remember the name of the song
Still one of the greatest things to ever come out of UA-cam, fond memories and kind hearts.
The sheer amount of work that had to have gone into this is phenomenal. Not only is the tune remix beyond catchy but the direction is superb. It's just a genuine happy moment that sticks in your head and makes you smile.

1 year late reply but...you're completely right! Why thumb down something of this quality? And the song is damn cool too :)
the tune remix is not theirs
It's Mr Fonk's remix ;) still, a great moment of genuine happiness yep. Everyone involved did a great job =D
This video was on replay for me when i was 11-12 ish. Can’t believe it’s 2019 already.
I remember when Madeon showed up on flstudio forums, 14 years old, as humble as he is talented. Daft Punk on crack. Mind blown.

Check the original with the guy actually doing this with a midi setup. It's just as amazing.
The entire time I was watching this video, I am shocked and frankly terrified of the amount of work that must have gone into the videography.

There's no green screen in this guy's work: he does directing, dancing, stunts and editing all by himself.

It's videos like this that make me so glad I'm alive
I've watched Madeon - Pop Culture video a lot but this was first time I saw your video of it. How can I have missed it? Loved your use of the "It takes two..." (Gossip - Heavy Cross) part. =)

It all started for me watching Nathan Barnett “fall” down some steps in full storm trooper armor at a con. Dude has incredible talent and shaped my humor growing up.
Stuff like this is timeless. Thank you for making it ☺️
