NPDR
Non Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy less than 20 yr
2. PDR
Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy more than 20 yr

2. DOT & BLOT HAEMORRHAGES
Superficial vs Deep Haemorrhages:@1:28
Superficial Haemorrhages:
1. Common in Hypertensive Retinopathy
2. Flame shaped Haemorrhages
3. Present in Nerve fibre layer
Deep Haemorrhages:
Common in Diabetic Retinopathy
Dot & Blot Haemorrhages
Present in Inner Nuclear layer
NPDR:@2:41
HARD EXUDATES:
Lipids deposit on retina due to leakage
Present in outer Plexiform layer
4. SOFT EXUDATES / COTTON WOOL SPOTS:
Axoplasmic debris due to occlusion
Present in Nerve Fibre layer

Micro Aneurysms - Inner nuclear layer
Hard Exudates - Outer Plexiform layer
Soft Exudates - Nerve fibre layer
Flamed shaped Haemorrhages - Nerve fibre layer
Dot & Blot Haemorrhages - Inner Nuclear layer

NVE → Neo Vascularization elsewhere
B) NVD → Neo Vascularization of Disc
Visual Loss In DR:
NPDR [Non Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy]
Macular Edema → CSME [Clinically significant Macular Edema]
Macular Edema within 500u radius from fovea
2. PDR [Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy]
Vitreous Haemorrhage
Tractional RD
Neovascular Glaucoma

Commonest cause of Visual loss overall → Macular Edema
