Ok I have an apple car play in my car and an android phone. I can connect to it wireless through Bluetooth, but I can only use the phone and play music. Would this allow me to mirror my phone or allow me to display the maps app so I can use it as a sat nav. Or do you think that my car play is limited to music and phone, thanks.
i have car link it 4 it connects and goes to a screen that says continue but when i press it it doesnt respond. I've talked to the suzuki dealer (i have a suzuki baleno 22 model, brought in Aust) and they have the opinion that cause my car doesn't support wireless connection it wont work. i cannot talk to the manufacture since i brought it through amazon. Been using this since June and was a little buggy at first. I did the update on carlinkit and it worked fine the update was great and fixed all the issues I was having. So far still running strong！
@@carlobauzon2020 Make sure the dongle is connected and has power and is running CarPlay/android auto already on your display - Use the same phone that's transmitting wireless CarPlay/Android Auto to the dongle - Open Safari on this iPhone or browser on android and enter the URL that’s in your manual you get with the device or use the QR code that is in the manual and press Go - Wait for the page to load, it should be pretty instant as you are connecting locally - The page will display if your dongle has an update available - Select the Update Now button to proceed with the update - Do not switch off your car, do not disconnect the dongle, do not turn off your iPhone or android and do not navigate away from the page during this update. - The update should take less than a minute. - As soon as the update has finished it will hold on 100% and say Upgrade Successful. At this point, your dongle should reboot and load you back into CarPlay/android auto
hey, I'm having trouble connecting my Android device. So I reached the Carlinkit menu where you pick which device to connect, just like in 3:36. After this I connected my phone to the bluetooth name in the screen , but after that nothing happened and the screen stayed just like in 5:05, and it will not connect to Android Auto. Any ideas why?

On my carlink 3.0, it insists on using Wi-Fi to connect. If I switch off my Wi-Fi on my iPhone, the message us turn on Wi-Fi to use car play. Please can you check to see if your iPhone is using the carlink Wi-Fi to connect (Even through the initial setup is Bluetooth based). Thanks

I have a T6 transporter converted camper and I’m constantly leaving my iPhone on the in car holder when I leave the vehicle 😮. Your vid has definitely given me confidence in the 4.0, my only issue is I cannot hide the 4.0 as my head unit usb is on the head unit so the 4.0 needs to be close.
will this work with the Telsa style Android radios with built in android auto and apple car play? Android only works on these units plugged in to USB , iPhone works wireless?
Thanks Paul, lots of useful info but I have a question. So if I setup and all works fine then my wife uses the car and the adaptor is looking for my phone, she will need to setup so she can connect. Will that then delete my setup so I have to run setup again or will the adaptor look for both phones in the future and connect either to the last one it connected to or the first one it finds? Thanks Kevin appreciate you watching mate, You can have 2 phones connected and it will show a list for you to select from, if both phones are in the car it will still show the list for you to select the phone to connect bit if no one selects anything it will go for the original phone that was setup

My Bluetooth is on permanent but it’ll as soon as I get in the car it hunts for both my iPhone and Android device. Any issues that need resolving CarLinkit have asked people to contact them and mention this video they will be able to assist further

Great review Paul and I bought it on Amazon after watching this. I used to own carlinkit 3 which used to disconnect a lot which is annoying. The only issue I have found with this is that it asks to be paired to my phone every time I start my car. Also, my previous Carilink device used to display on my car Andorid auto because I am using a Samsung device. CarlinKit 4 displays the logo as Apple Carplay. I know it's a minor thing but do you know of any way to change this?

With having a turbo I always let my car idle properly before driving off but I’d say roughly from the engine going on, less than a minute and it’s loaded up to my main CarPlay page
Thanks!! I usually wait for about a minute too - until engine rpm goes down and stabilize at normal 800rpm. But if you make a short stop it is not needed - engine is ready to go immediately but multimedia is not - it has to load from the very start. And carlinkit can add some time to this procedure. Anyway thanks for you answer. It will help me to do the right choice.
@@couragic I find that a short journey is still enough for it to kick in and play something or have Waze on I never drive anywhere that’s less than a 20 min walk

The delay you get, does it not cause you to miss a turn or any other instruction from the gps (google maps)? I mean, will the gps instruction be to late when you are driving?
My car has built in wireless apple CarPlay and that delay is apparent even on OEM equipment. It’s also very dependent on how good your data connection is. If I’m on 3G or low signal OEM wireless buffers for ages. Cars a 2021 Skoda Octavia.
At the minute I'm trying out android auto on the headunit and the difference is night and day right now, if only Android auto looked better than it did I'd use it full time
@@PaulRankinYT I’d been waffling between versions to buy since the 2 and 3 are going cheaper; after watching your video, I went with the 4.0 and I’m glad I did. So far I’ve had it in my car about a week and a half and other than two times I’ve had to reboot it while driving, it’s been seamless.

Here is our answer to your question: As Wireless CarPlay uses both the Bluetooth connection and a closed WiFi network to communicate with the phone. This allows both sufficient bandwidths for data exchange (WiFi) and sufficient control protocols to exchange commands with your phone (Bluetooth). When your phone is connected to Wireless CarPlay, the WiFi connection is only to communicate with the car. Even on a car that has hotspot functionality, your phone will use its own LTE connection to allow the phone to exchange data with internet services such as Waze or Spotify. As our carlinkit 4.0 is an adapter to make wired carplay to wireless carplay. so when you use wireless carplay you should use your cellular data, this is due to the carplay features, and not caused by our device. What about a vehicle with a "joystick" controller? I have a Mercedes Benz and the screen is controlled next to the armrest by the dial. It's not a touchscreen.
@@PaulRankinYT it does. And I actually bought one and it works perfectly. I got the A2A since I have Android Auto and an S22Ultra. Reviews say people with older phones have connection issues and lag. I have none of that.
Does not work on my 2019 Cadillac CT6. The light on the dongle stays red and the head unit doesn't recognize it. I really wanted it to work but can't even get to the point of trying to pair it.

I have a Samsung phone. When it connects to the Carlinkit, it automatically connects to Apple CarPlay. It's really annoying. I want it to connect to Android Auto because it appears the UI aspect ratio is not the same as Wired Android Auto.
Ordered one of these for my 2018 Chevy Silverado based on this video. It works well took a few minutes to “wake up” on initial install but connected with ease and works just as fine as wired connection Unfortunately the discount code is no longer valid
I’m having an issue with it keeping my CarPlay connected. Like instead of playing off CarPlay it plays off the regular Bluetooth media. I have to fidget with it over n over before it actually connects carplay again

Unfortunately mate I wasn’t able to test that out, I think with the lag on the music you may have a second or 2 before your video starts to play but can’t see it being out of sync

Your car must have carplay for this to work. Early versions of carplay require your phone to be connected to have carplay. Newer cars today come with wireless carplay.

Hi Eddy, unfortunately I can't comment on the Ottocast as I've never used one but I know the box in the video can add android auto to your system as you already have CarPlay

Maybe my soothing tones put you to sleep during that part 😂 first of all thanks for stopping by and checking out the video, some advantages are no wires, hidden box, feels much more native to your screen, there's only a very small delay which can be resolved in the settings on your phone plus a few more

My personal opinion ...a useless piece of junk. Received mine today after watching many reviews. Constantly freezes, connection drops constantly (every few minutes) requiring removal of usb connection to reset. Initially thought it may be my phone, so got my wife to try it with her new iPhone 14 max she got yesterday. Same issues. Then thought maybe it was my Car so tried 3 different cars this afternoon...same issues
Shame your having issues and hey everyone is entitled to their own opinion but maybe reach out to Carlinkit mention this video and see if they can help you out and check for a software update it may fix the problem
We all have different experiences it’s unfortunate yours hasn’t been good This has been in my car over a week now and the only lag I’ve had is what I showed in the video of the music skipping feature. I use Waze daily and have had no issues, I’ve tried UA-cam music, Apple Music and Spotify with no real issues Do you think an update would sort yours out?

How do u update the device?

A longer wire should solve it for you mate, it will still be plugged in but will be able to hide the box

As long as you have CarPlay this will add android auto so both will be wireless

With having a turbo I always let my car idle properly before driving off but I’d say roughly from the engine going on, less than a minute and it’s loaded up to my main CarPlay page
Thanks!! I usually wait for about a minute too - until engine rpm goes down and stabilize at normal 800rpm. But if you make a short stop it is not needed - engine is ready to go immediately but multimedia is not - it has to load from the very start. And carlinkit can add some time to this procedure. Anyway thanks for you answer. It will help me to do the right choice.
@@couragic I find that a short journey is still enough for it to kick in and play something or have Waze on I never drive anywhere that’s less than a 20 min walk

The delay you get, does it not cause you to miss a turn or any other instruction from the gps (google maps)? I mean, will the gps instruction be to late when you are driving?
There’s no delay on that it’s just when you skip songs it’s not right away takes a few seconds
Can you listen to a radio station and to Google maps gps simultaneously ?
Or listen to spotify and to the gps simultaneously?
It just cuts in with your turn by turn

My car has built in wireless apple CarPlay and that delay is apparent even on OEM equipment. It’s also very dependent on how good your data connection is. If I’m on 3G or low signal OEM wireless buffers for ages. Cars a 2021 Skoda Octavia.
At the minute I'm trying out android auto on the headunit and the difference is night and day right now, if only Android auto looked better than it did I'd use it full time
@@PaulRankinYT I’d been waffling between versions to buy since the 2 and 3 are going cheaper; after watching your video, I went with the 4.0 and I’m glad I did. So far I’ve had it in my car about a week and a half and other than two times I’ve had to reboot it while driving, it’s been seamless.

As Wireless CarPlay uses both the Bluetooth connection and a closed WiFi network to communicate with the phone. This allows both sufficient bandwidths for data exchange (WiFi) and sufficient control protocols to exchange commands with your phone (Bluetooth). When your phone is connected to Wireless CarPlay, the WiFi connection is only to communicate with the car. Even on a car that has hotspot functionality, your phone will use its own LTE connection to allow the phone to exchange data with internet services such as Waze or Spotify. What about a vehicle with a "joystick" controller? I have a Mercedes Benz and the screen is controlled next to the armrest by the dial. It's not a touchscreen.

Does not work on my 2019 Cadillac CT6. The light on the dongle stays red and the head unit doesn't recognize it. I really wanted it to work but can't even get to the point of trying to pair it.

I have a Samsung phone. When it connects to the Carlinkit, it automatically connects to Apple CarPlay. It's really annoying. I want it to connect to Android Auto because it appears the UI aspect ratio is not the same as Wired Android Auto.

Ordered one of these for my 2018 Chevy Silverado based on this video.
It works well took a few minutes to “wake up” on initial install but connected with ease and works just as fine as wired connection

Unfortunately mate I wasn’t able to test that out, I think with the lag on the music you may have a second or 2 before your video starts to play but can’t see it being out of sync
The screen of Android auto do not stay centralized. Do you know what can I do to fix this problem.

Do all the usual steps of disconnecting the device, turn off Bluetooth etc and try again, it does come up

For samsung s22 you need to select Android Auto.

My personal opinion ...a useless piece of junk. Received mine today after watching many reviews. Constantly freezes, connection drops constantly (every few minutes) requiring removal of usb connection to reset. Initially thought it may be my phone, so got my wife to try it with her new iPhone 14 max she got yesterday. Same issues. Then thought maybe it was my Car so tried 3 different cars this afternoon...same issues
Shame your having issues and hey everyone is entitled to their own opinion but maybe reach out to Carlinkit mention this video and see if they can help you out and check for a software update it may fix the problem
It lags like crazy. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone. Spotify lags, Waze lags (most annoying) since we all need navigation to be real time…
We all have different experiences it’s unfortunate yours hasn’t been good
This has been in my car over a week now and the only lag I’ve had is what I showed in the video of the music skipping feature. I use Waze daily and have had no issues, I’ve tried UA-cam music, Apple Music and Spotify with no real issues
