Great video! I have the same iPod from way back. My battery is getting pretty weak too. Now that the iPod is officially dead, it makes me want to use mine more again.
I got one from my cousin who did not want it anymore. I was going to replace the battery, but it looks like a lot of work. It still works great as long as it stays plugged in my car!
Great reference vid for when I replace the battery on mine if I can find the parts. Dad has got it figured out here, would not be surprised if the man is thriving on a karaoke night.
LOL I got a 2nd gen nano included with a mini I bought. Wasn't going to replace the battery and just wanted to see if it worked, so I plugged it in and the screen didn't work, but it was still able to sync with my library. Left it on the charger too long and the battery blew up on me. Ok, maybe not "fiery explosion" blew up, but it started inflating and broke the screen (although the screen did start working, aside from the cracks in it). Threw it on top of a fire pit so it wouldn't burn the house down and it's sat there for more than a week now and I'm kinda scared to put it in my truck to take it somewhere to be recycled...
Anyone else who is looking to do this, I have been doing mini/micro electronics for years and it is heavily suggested to test most projects BEFORE you reassemble! Same applies to larger things, but we all get excited when it is tiny!
Yes, I’m old as,,, yeah you get it. Mine died recently and there are songs and playlists I did for my wife on the Nano sentimental stuff. Don’t know what generation mine is, so before I try to do what you did I’ll try to figure that out then tackle the job,, thanks.
I replaced the battery in my iPod Classic I got in high school about 5-7 years ago and it was at least a bit easier than that. Need to do it again, the replacement battery isn't holding a charge anymore. I've been waiting to do it because I also want to do the flash conversion to replace the hard drive with an SD card
VERY IMPORTANT !! note to all !!! the earphone jack is connected to a flatcable . this runs from earphonejack !!! to the chassis /screen/buttons via A CONNECTOR on the motherboard !!! and from there to the screen / buttons. when removing the little motherboard assembly you have to unplug this connector from the board. then the headphone connector flatcable stays on the chassis with the little connector to the board assembley on the flatcable in the middle . if you do not know this you will rip this flatcable when removing the board en demolish this nice piece of tech.
,...and now I'm even happier that I decided to just replace my old ipod nano with a Sony Walkman instead of trying to replace its unreliable battery. 🤣
Till the day smartphones will be as light as this (under 40g) I'll keep using my Pod Nano. Try playing basketball with a 200g brick in your pocket... Not nice.
Increíble, fui a la tienda de y ya no lo venden , creo qué es de la misma generación. No sabia que se puede reparar. El problema con el mio es que la baratera se muere rápidamente
Thank you haha. I have a video where I taught my dad how to solder and will be doing more videos like that soon to hopefully make soldering look a little less scary :-)

Przy uszkodzonej napuchniętej baterii płyta główna nie wysunie się tak łatwo.

Hi Jake, how I can order this cool Blue Silicon ESD Mate?

Good work
If you don't want to mess with the black glue, you can cut the wires close to the battery and just solder to the wires.
I was doing great until I used the smudger and pushed the console board through with the headphone jack. Can that be repaired?
Yeah

Nice vid but I wished you kept the camera on the iPod
