After seeing the Scrapman in action in the first episode, I’m happy to see this 4MT return to service after the state it was in. I’m telling you, if this was an actual show on TV or something I would SO binge watch it
In this series the only locomotive that was fed to the evil scrap man was the little diesel shunter...but this 4mt looks beautiful in BR Black. Cheers mate and have a good one!
Oh God, imagine having a guest on for this. Someone who also loves model railways and locomotive, but has little to no mechanical knowledge on how these models work. Imagine asking them to repair an engine under the pressure of a time limit. Complete chaos! 😂
this series has the energy of one of those, science shows ion the cbbc that were on near 2 decades ago, and i ate those shows up, keep up the good work sam.
Definetly love this series as it's so satisfying to see these models be ever for future or current modelers. I especially love your use of the 3D Printer as that can inspire people to not have to search high and low for original parts when you can make them yourself. Top Notch as always and can't wait for the rest of the series to continue.
great video, chap! I love this series, and I love that you're able to salvage these wonderful forgotten models to their former glory. Can't wait for the next one!
I appreciate this was a challenge, however, given the state of the model I felt it was a golden opportunity for you to take us through a super detailing exercise.
Great stuff Sam! 👏 Happy to see these back. I enjoyed the first series. Great work as always and inspiration to pick up some duffers from boot sales and get them going.
Hey Sam. Great Video! Just wanted to let you know that on the last couple of salvage or scrap videos, during the review section where you show the details of the loco, the video comes up very dark and difficult to see. I thought it may be my phone brightness however it is up full and i tried it on my ipad which was the same. Maybe just cos the locos were all black or something but just thought I'd let you know in case anyone else had similar issues. Really enjoy watching these series. All the best.
Off-topic, Sam, but I've just been notified by my Hornby Tier 1 retailer that they can't supply the Evening Star loco I ordered because Hornby have cut between 33% and 92% of the individual items allocated to them. This is the second retailer which had to cancel my order for this loco. Start treating us with respect, Hornby! If you think you'll compel me to buy direct from you, you're wrong!
in the next video can yuo do raceing with james vs edward , thomas vs duck , percy vs toby, gordon vs emily , bill vs ben , arry vs bert , mavis vs rosie , donald vs douglas , henry vs spencer, flying scottman vs black 5 and oliver vs class A4 and there is 1 winner please can you do it
It is great to see you getting them to run again in this series Salvaged or Scrap, but I can't believe you sold this 2008 model for the winning bit of £128.99 on eBay.
Hi Sam. What do you use to lubricate your locomotives? And can you do a comparison video on lubricants in the same format as the cleaning fluid comparison video? Please include the lubricant you personally use as well
It depends - I use petroleum jelly for electrical contacts, silicone grease for gears, and hemline sewing machine oil for bearings! Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hey Sam, I've really been enjoying Salvage or Scrap, but I think it would be even more awesome if you had a series where you put more effort into models, didn't have a time limit, were able to buy spare parts, and even repainted some locos if needed. Sort of like some automotive restoration shows. Like I said I really enjoy this series, but something without the time limit would be more my style! You could even restore a loco over multiple videos to make it seam like a long term project! Cheers!
Thanks for the feedback! There are times where I do put more time and effort into fixing the models properly - but that's not the intention here - this format is more geared for entertainment, though of course it won't be for everyone! Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Sam will you do a review or make any videos on Peco's new TT gauge track? Maybe explain it and compare it to OO and N. Heljan are releasing a class 31 in TT soon
Yes I have been thinking about whether I can do some content on that - I don't think now is the good time though, there's so little to choose from. Not much good for content, and surely not very useful for modellers either! Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I absolutely luv these salvage and scrap vids, but can you maybe review a Fleischmann locomotive like the 4020 tank, please remember that Fleischmann is a German brand
In short : you are talented. It's a splendid work you have done here, and you will make an happy modeller when this engine will be sold. In my opinion, this series is one of your best ideas. Keep the good job done !
This week, on Salvage Or Scrap: Can Sam fix a Standard Class 4mt within a specified time limit, or will we get another victim to *THE SCRAP MAN*? Find out today on this second episode of Season 2 of Salvage Or Scrap!
I'm one step away from turning my one wish in life into reality. You had a go at driving a Great Central Railway resident 9F tender engine, on your 21st birthday. Now it's my turn. I'm on my way towards becoming a member of the Cambrian Heritage Railway in Oswestry. Included in the membership is driving an engine. I want to drive an Andrew Barclay Saddle Tank Engine, who's resident there. Put that in your steam-pipe and smoke it.
Hey Sam, I started collecting hornby trains when I was around 9. I still have a small collection and I’m clueless on how to service them, they have also been in poor storage. Is there any chance of getting in touch and possibly sending them over to you to see if you can sort the problem? At least 2 of them won’t even start and one creates plenty of sparks. Looking forward to your response!
Great to see you safe another locomotive from being scrapped! 45 minutes is sure the perfect time to complete this restoration to get this locomotive running again!
This series is great, it gave me the confidence to try getting some "bad runner" engines and have a go at fixing them, Currently working on an unknown kit build J70 that I'm having a go at getting running again, On a side note, what settings and nozzle size do you use for your 3d printer?
Thanks for the wishes, Currently got the problem of keeping the worm gear meshing with the drive gear on the axle, so me thinks there'll be some slight adjusting brackets soon,
This brings a smile to my face knowing that this series is back. Thanks Sam
That's very good to hear Tim - thanks very much! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)

In this series the only locomotive that was fed to the evil scrap man was the little diesel shunter...but this 4mt looks beautiful in BR Black. Cheers mate and have a good one!
haha that's true - maybe the Scrapman prefers diesels?!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I don’t know, but if I was a scrapman, I wouldn’t like drinking diesel oil
I don't think diesel oil is that bad at all, I actually drink some every morning at breakfast.
Oh God, imagine having a guest on for this. Someone who also loves model railways and locomotive, but has little to no mechanical knowledge on how these models work. Imagine asking them to repair an engine under the pressure of a time limit. Complete chaos! 😂

haha that's great to hear - thanks very much Chris! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
"You don't get much less realistic than having no buffers at all"
Engines built with no buffers: am i a joke to you?
If this series doesn't get on cable tv I will cry
haha!! It'll probably always be here on UA-cam xD
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
The “Model Railway Engineer Electricity UA-cam Bloke” really got me lol
haha, it is a superb title xD
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Why does that sound a lot like my name
Definetly love this series as it's so satisfying to see these models be ever for future or current modelers. I especially love your use of the 3D Printer as that can inspire people to not have to search high and low for original parts when you can make them yourself. Top Notch as always and can't wait for the rest of the series to continue.
Thank you so much - it was nice to have this one working again, especially without having to buy any new parts!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Love the way you build the tension like other DIY shows. “It’s really bad, I don’t think I can do it………..amazing it works! 😀
Denied AGAIN Scrapman! Take a hike! Sam's got you beat!
This was a cool episode, Great Job Sam
great video, chap! I love this series, and I love that you're able to salvage these wonderful forgotten models to their former glory. Can't wait for the next one!
oh yeah it is back and working, always nice to see.
I appreciate this was a challenge, however, given the state of the model I felt it was a golden opportunity for you to take us through a super detailing exercise.
somebody got very hungry and ate the buffers and funnel XD nice video sam
Well ur motor maybe burn out but my hornby gordon short circuts my controllers
You should propose this idea to Netflix because this seems like it should be a Netflix show so great job Sam
“There could be glue marks visible, Hornby style” XD
Thank You that was fun.
Great video love watching these your so talented
Oh yes I've been waiting for another episode I love this series
Awesome, really hope you enjoy it :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
It is a great day on UA-cam when a new episode of Salvaged or Scrapped is released.
haha thank you so much!! :D
Got my popcorn out. Time to watch the greatest series on UA-cam!
haha you're very kind - hope you enjoy! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Class 4MT: *Yay!* *Thanks!*
*”I Can Running Again, I never been run for many years!*
You should ask people to send broken old model trains to your PO Box for you to try and repair and send it back
Well done sam
I love the new 4mt
Great stuff Sam! 👏 Happy to see these back. I enjoyed the first series. Great work as always and inspiration to pick up some duffers from boot sales and get them going.
Keep up the good work
I live these repair videos. Shows how you can fix them up. See you at Warley I hope.
Not a bad repair. Well done.

Missed Salvage or Scrap, glad is back again. Awesome.
Thank you - so glad you like the series! :D

Well done on fixing the loco Sam :)
Thanks a lot Paul! :D
@@SamsTrains your welcome :)

Thanks for sharing Rob - yes I've heard a lot about this already - Hornby up to their old tricks again annoyingly :(
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Now THATs a Rebuilt loco
Good one, Sam. Too late to bid, but another one saved.
This is such a great series.
Thanks so much Gregory! :D
Good Job On This One, Really Made Up From Last Time
haha it sure did - thanks my friend!
Cheers,
Sam :)
19:14 🤗 Yay!
(And I don’t need it for now on.)
Welcome to "Just rolled in" with Sam...
Costumer states: The loco saw better days.
in the next video can yuo do raceing with james vs edward , thomas vs duck , percy vs toby, gordon vs emily , bill vs ben , arry vs bert , mavis vs rosie , donald vs douglas , henry vs spencer, flying scottman vs black 5 and oliver vs class A4 and there is 1 winner please can you do it

Another edge of the seat instalment :D
Great video Sam. Good looking loco at the end of the day> Well done.
Thanks William - glad you like the result! :D
Great restoration work and interesting / educational. Personally I wouldn't apply a time limit as you may chuck away what could be a very nice loco.
Awesome video today Sam
As long the model works that what matters most
Hey Sam I just restored a BR 4mt as well. And It went very good. Now he is on the mainline
Cheers: Jasper & Willow
That's great work - well done you! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hornby 4TMs are worth the work to restore. I have one bought brand new, and it's a very nice engine to run, especially on a branch line.
Got outbid at 53 pounds, it’s very cool. Good luck to the winner!
Ahh sorry to hear that - thanks for taking a look anyway! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hola buen dia excente trabajo quedo como nueva gran trabajo abrazo grande
Try either "Glu and Glaze" or Tamiya Extra Thin when gluing glazing
Thanks for the tip - I can look at doing that!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Nice man
I like the custom funnel! Mayber next time you get a locomotive without its funnel, you give it a Giesel funnel like what Edward Thomas and a 9F had
Thank you! Ooh that'd be fun - nice idea that! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)

Very good 🙂🚂🚂🚂
Did you hear about Hornby cancelling the Titfield Thunderbolt pack?
Decent video there Sam good looking locomotive to restore.
Thanks David! :D
Yay the scrapman is thwarted again
Turned out lovely sam 👍
Thanks Ciaran - I'm pretty happy with this one! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
i really like the 4mt
Yay and another steam engine escapes the scrap yard hurrah

Hey Sam, I know it’s late, but I’m currently dealing with ants, and I’m ready afraid of ants, thanks for giving me the courage to deal with them
Oh no!! Hope you can deal with the ants - good luck!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
@@SamsTrains thanks, I managed to get them away. I’ve got a question, how bad are the ants over there
Is going to get Scraped or Salvaged either way it's going to be a great video
Excellent job Sam, these are delicate complex models and you brought her back to life. ***** Cheers Mike

I really like your content it's so relaxing listening to your reviews and how calm you are during the salvage or scrap series
haha glad I sounded calm... these are always a bit stressful, lol! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
You should open an bachmann/hornby parts store
0:10 question: what kind of engine is that Green 0-4-0 tank
Wow! It went for £129 plus the postage.
If the 4MT weren’t restored to its former glory, it could have become a Scrap Mam Sausage.
Ooh there's a sinister thought!! ;D
I absolutely luv these salvage and scrap vids, but can you maybe review a Fleischmann locomotive like the 4020 tank, please remember that Fleischmann is a German brand
Awesome video Sam's trains
Thanks Brian! :D
@@SamsTrains you're welcome
Well done it’s great to see a loco brought back to life again.
Thanks Tony - I'm glad this one was fixable!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
do they get left to the scrap man or what happens to them
neato as always mah man
Thank you! :D
I'm curious, what is the Scrap Man saying in his lines? In the intro it sounds like he's saying "Graham".
In short : you are talented. It's a splendid work you have done here, and you will make an happy modeller when this engine will be sold.

Can Sam fix a Standard Class 4mt within a specified time limit, or will we get another victim to *THE SCRAP MAN*? Find out today on this second episode of Season 2 of Salvage Or Scrap!

Please never stop salvage and scrap
Salvage and scrap season two?
Sweet vid man. No offense of any kind but I love this intro more than the last season. Keep up the good work.
The 4MT is possibly my fave class of british steam.
Got bachman Annle
I wanna buy that locmotive
This should be a real show. Amazon prime maybe, love your content sam you've helped me start on the best hobby in the world! Keep up the good work
That's very kind of you, so glad you're able to enjoy this awesome hobby! :D

Reminds me of a black 5, which is my favorite steam locomotive
Yes Sam from salvaged
Yes!! :D
Do you remember that lima diesel engine Sam. I bought it, I think 9 months ago
Cheers Jasper & Willow
Yeah I remember it!! Did you buy the Salvage or Scrap one??
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Will there finally be a train consumed
There was last episode!! :D

Bit like modern houses. No chimmneys.
