I've been treated well byV.A. There is however the 5% / 10% that have no idea what's going on. You could be on hold for hours, and just plain rude people. Oh you say you have pain? Yes I know you're 82but I can only give you 4pain pills. Don't want you addicted to the meds before you die. We would rather keep you in as much pain as possible and hope you DIE really soon! I think that's the new policy.
For real. I'm constantly in fear wondering if they're going to eff me over. Luckily I just had a C&P exam so I should be in the clear for now. But I worry for my fellow vets.
Don't want your ratings reduced? Use the VA health care system for every SC condition regularly. This creates a long paper trail documenting your condition(s) and how they impact your daily life. Some veterans make the mistake of getting a higher rating (70% and higher) and get no further medical care for their condition(s) be it the VA or their private doctor. I was awarded 100% P&T in 2020 primarily because I stayed in treatment, took VA medications and voiced my issues with my VA provider to ensure it was documented. Even though I am 100% P&T I still use the VA regularly and am still in treatment. Veterans! Take care of yourself as well as your SC ratings!
I am literally blocked from using the VA hotline and VA crisis line. I am on the disruptive behavior program for recording after being misdiagnosed. I went in for treatment but they were about the money I am 100 percent p/t and literally cannot get care at the VA, nor can I not have them interfere with private sector influence,
@@MK-js8yb you were probably the same as me where the end of the day we both know that emergency room can help us hotline can’t help us. I'm down 20% from 60% AFTER 3 knee surgeries I paid for, which eventually led to a hip replacement on the opposite side, and now I'm "better" and the hip had nothing to do with the opposite knee issues. We should not EVER lose SC rating nor should we EVER have to fight for it!

I have a track record of diabetics type 2 and was denied after 15 months and two C&P va exams. It would have raised my 90% disability rate to 100%. Now I have a unemployability C&P exam for my PTSD coming up in 10 days.

Only way they will change it is if you either file a new claim for a new condition or if you go to VA doc for a condition you already have and they see that (to them) you are getting better. Besides that no one is changing anything. The Va already said you’re 100% p&t.
If you’re over 60 years old, you’re probably OK. Unless you have disability rating for 20 year VA protection. VA can review your case whenever they want. P&T means likely will not improve.

Unless there's fraud, the VA shouldn't reduce benefits...period! One issue is VA directors who believe it's their duty to reign in VA spending, so they decide to start by decreasing veteran ratings to save government money. Recently the Phoenix VA got in serious trouble for do this by illegally reducing the ratings of veterans who had certain protections. Another problem is the Congressional Budget Office or CBO who always tries to make proposals of how to cut the government's massive budget each year. The CBO always picks on disabled vets first! The VA's disabled veteran budget is just a teeny drop in a massive budget pool. I believe the CBO should start looking elsewhere, like cutting projects that waste money, such as a recent research formulated to find out the effects of shrimp running on treadmills...such a waste! There are many other places in the budget to cut, don't cut vet benefits.
Should you worry about filing for another issue (PACT) if you are already 100%.... My advice to my daughter was no. However, others have said yes!!! Thoughts, please.
Yes, always have any and every condition noted and applied to/for. I know many with 150% or more ratings. It isn't about the percentage, it is about the medical conditions.

Someone could be dishonest about the VA reducing veterans benefits in order to downplay the severity of the situation and make it appear as though the VA is not doing enough to support veterans. This could be done in an effort to discredit the VA and make it appear as though they are not doing enough to support veterans, which could lead to a decrease in public support for the VA and its programs. The VA should give everyone a secondary for PTSD just for the stress of having to file and fight to keep the claims they earned.
