This is exactly why you don't cross multiple lanes of traffic. You wait until it's clear or find another route. Doesn't matter who legally is at fault. This wouldn't have happened if that car didn't cross those lanes.
Your brain must be malfunctioning so let me explain it to you, the cause of the accident was not the white car merging into multiple lanes, the cause of the accident was the semi truck not paying attention to the vehicles ahead of him

@@huegrection9698other cars cannot give you permission to break the road rules. Despite the fact that the VW broke the rules and acted stupidly, the truck driver was the only vehicle in motion when the accident occured so it's pretty clearly the truck driver who will be mostly liable.
We all have to avoid accidents, even if the cause of the accident is somebody breaking the rules.
Obviously the truck didn't see the car, which is why you should never do what that car did. Unfortunately just because you did all the right things it doesn't mean you won't be found responsible.
After this, the truck driver will learn not to trust that their blindspots were empty before, it doesn't mean they will remain that way. When you cannot see the cars around you, you need to act accordingly. Blindspots do not absolve you from the need to wait until the road is clear to proceed.
@@huegrection9698ot to mention if the VW had missed their turn they could have gone around the block or found another route, like every truck does every day.
@Sine Nomine VW didn't necessarily act stupid. the truck driver has to be aware of his own blindspots. if he sees cars clearing the way for a car to pass through its up to him to be aware of the road. this isn't a simple case of the VW being in his blindspot. shows lack of awareness and negligence on the truck drivers fault to not understand the situation on the road. it seemed he was distracted and went from the left turn the second he saw the green arrow. by then the damage was already done

Hey y'all I used to drive and a lot of people are saying the tucker is at fault. Couple things that should be pointed out are that the car was in fact in that trucks blind spot. You can see the trucks reflection on the white car as it pulls in front. The truck was not moving and was far enough back to be considered a safe distance from the car directly ahead of him. Rule of thumb is if you're within 20 feet of the front of that truck especially front passenger side he doesn't see you. You can try the "last clear chance doctrine" argument, but that only works if the trucker actually saw the car and had an opportunity to avoid the accident, clearly he didn't. I also saw the argument saying that if you hit a car that's in your blind spot it's your fault, NOT TRUE. That only applies to lane changes. If someone climbs under your vehicle while you're at a red light and you run them over you're not at fault, they snuck into your blind spot. That's suicide. This is the same situation.
Edit: Hey y'all, I'm seeing a lot of people not really understanding the situation and still blaming the truck driver. Before you comment, rewatch the video and take these things into consideration.
1. Look for the reflection of the truck on the black ram and then the VW when the VW pulls in front. The truck is already stopped there next to the Toyota which is next to the POV car. Now because he's there, specifically the passenger side A-pillar is going to become the main source of the blind spot. And there's no seeing through the A-pillar.
2. Someone said the truck was going too fast? The truck was stopped at a red light, and started rolling when the visible car in front of him started rolling. So ask yourself, how was he going to fast if he was stopped at a red light, and only started to move when the car in front of him did. Now you're probably thinking "well dumb ass dovah look at how much damage was done". Yes. There was a significant amount of damage. These trucks are built to pull tens of thousands of pounds, some even hundreds of thousands. They have an impressive amount of torque to get going. Add the weight of whatever he's pulling, he could have pushed every one of those cars all into the intersection if he wanted. Looks fast, it happened fast sure. He absolutely was not "going too fast". Just driving a really powerful machine.
Anyways if you're truly an experienced driver, and you break down this video down and look at every detail, you'll see the trucker was 100 percent innocent. And actually this should be a lesson to us all on just how big the blind spots are on these trucks. You see people cutting in front of these trucks danger close every day. Pulling stunts like this video. Help your fellow truckers out y'all, drive responsibly. If you don't see him, he certainly doesn't see you. Stay safe y'all, let me know in the comments if there's more you'd like me to break down!
Thank you
So. He must keep atleast a cars distance infront of him when coming ti a complete stop. He was less than half a cars distance when he was forced to stop.
Even if this is a jurisdiction that it is not the case. That truck was not stopping. Not paying attention.
And I've driven for a year myself. And I for how long he was there. That truck could have seen him. It's pretty close when the blind spot hit. Think if how long it took and how fast he was going. He could have seen it.
Don't use blind spot as an excuse for this one. The truck was obviously back far enough to see the car, if they had been paying attention.
Holy hell, thank you! An actual sensible comment. I just commented on CombatBuckee comment. He claimed to be a driver for 10 years and he said that trucker definitely saw that car. This guy must have gotten his CDL from a cereal box because after ten years, he should have known about having a 20 foot blind spot in the front, unless all he ever drove was a cab over.
@@Sugarbear1953how far back was the truck then? If it was obvious you would know.
That truck was moving so slow but it still went through that car door like butter.
Way way under his mirrors and he entered out of the line of sight for the truck driver. This is why eye contact and a hand gesture always helps " do you see me?"
The trucker should lose his CDL for that.
The car must have been in the trucks blind spot. You can see the truck’s reflection on the car once it stopped
@@SL-lu3sw That's just dumb. The fact that a vehicle is in front of you at a stoplight at a weird angle DOES NOT give you license to aggravate the problem by plowing into it.
@@SL-lu3sw Vertically? That would mean driving straight up into the sky. You're so weird.
@@williamsherman9514 so I didn’t add the word across. And that’s all you took away from that? Wow, here is where I leave you to your own devices. Good luck with the lack of perspective!
@SL-lu3sw I think your perspective is lacking the truck should have been paying attention to his surroundings he was coming up to a STOP light and didn't stop till he/she hit another vehicle. If the truck is reflecting off the cars door science tells me the truck is far enough away to see it and stop which he should have been doing anyway because of the stop light.
I am a truck driver. I am well over 6’ tall with a bad back. I have to sit with the seat all the way up. I almost hit a car that did this to me at a big toll booth plaza on a turnpike. Traffic was bumper to bumper, moving at 0-1mph. A car made a left turn, right across the front of my truck. I never saw him, but a “tiny” patch of green was were it shouldn’t have been. I stood up and now could see a Taurus had cut in front of me. Had I been sitting as “normal” drivers do, I would have hit him. And I was driving a Mack, whose hood is shorter than this Pete. Almost all of you 4-wheelers have no clue what a big truck driver can see out the windshield. Most truck videos have the dashcam at the top of the windshield, we see out the bottom half of the windshield. Sometimes we can’t see the car, but if the sun is right, we can see the shadow of the car. It should be required in every state, before a drivers license is issued, that the permit holder sit in the right seat of a big truck for a day. Maybe then, they’d live longer.
Truck driver not at fault here.
Hey Paul. I'm a truck driver also. If the car pulled in front of the sitting truck, it would be his (car's)fault. However, the car got there first and was there waiting for a while The video was clipped to remove time and get to the point. If you look at opposing traffic, you'll see they did a complete cycle: the turn lanes crossed, then the main traffic crossed. Later, if you look at the reflection on the accident car, you'll see the truck pull up, come into view and hit the car. Rewind and you'll see the truck was not there when the car initially crossed. The truck driver is at fault for the accident. Stay safe buddy.
@@justtubing767 Regardless rather the care got there first or not. How he got there is the issue and you can not pass multiple lanes at once especially the way the car is doing it. Its ILLEGAL.
@@justtubing767 Nope. Look again. Pause the video before the time jump and see the yellow truck fender on the back left quarter panel of the Vdub. Then after the time skip you'll see that yellow fender take less than a couple seconds to crawl into frame. Truck is parked basically JUST out of frame. Vdub is at fault.
If a car pulls in front of two lanes of traffic and expects to do the third pulling out only halfway in the third. It's the car's fault that's plain stupidity. He's pulling out in traffic! Expect: "oh nobody's going to hit me. I'll just do it for all the lanes." You don't do that!!!!!
I'll tell u exactly what happened. You can see the reflection in the fender the truck was stopped until the white car came up. When it stops the truck doesn't want to let him in so he pulls up but he doesn't know his own trucks front end for whatever reason and hits him. He probly didn't even feel the collision but saw the truck get hit.
I had a similar situation happen to me. I did not see the car. The hood of my truck blocked that car coming from the side and I drove right into it just like this. The lady said she thought I knew she was there. When the light turned green I went and followed the car in front of me. The cop wrote her a ticket. The accident was her fault. I honestly never saw her.
i’ve never seen a more deliberate trucker accident.

I hope everyone realizes that semi trucks carrying thousands upon THOUSANDS of weight can't stop on the dime like cars can...
Semi was probably already stopped just out of the camera frame and was unable to see the car nosing in front of the semi.
Either way, doesn't matter who's at fault, be cautious around a semi's blind spots.
@George xander wrong, truck definitely couldnt see him, car was in his blind spot
@George xander 🤣 lil bro, ok. Not all trucks have spot mirrors on the hood. The one in the video doesn't genius. Even if It did, they only help you see what's next to you not in front of you. Plus 5 yards out? The car wasn't even 5 feet out. Your ignorance is astounding.
@George xander it literally does not, what your seeing on the front corner of the hood by the grill is the truck number 352, which you can clearly see In the zoomed in portion of the video. Imagine not using your brain instead posting idiotic responses like a window licker.
@George xander more like 5 feet, you can see the reflection of the truck on the side of the car. The truck simply couldn’t see that the car is trying to slip in front of him
The truck is responsible. The car did illegally cross to the turn lane, but he was already there for a considerable amount of time before the truck pulled up. Look to the reflection on the accident car and you'll see the truck wasn't there. Then, If you look at the traffic flow, the intersecting traffic's turn lanes were moving. Then the main traffic moved. You can even see a bike come and wait. Then as the light was about to for the cammer's view the truck pulled up. You can see the reflection of the truck pulling up and running into the car.
Lesson to be taught here, don't stay in a semi's blindspots
Interesting how the cameraman followed the car as if he knew this was going to happen. 💥
There’s nothing wrong with that the VW did. The cars left room for him to cross and he did it safe, slow and didn’t cut any one off. There’s also a cut in the clip to where the truck hit the car meaning the trucks wasn’t right there when the VW crossed over. 100% the trucks fault.
let me remind you something, actually, let Google remind you that:
is it legal to change lanes in an intersection, or could she get a ticket?
"It's a common question," said Sgt. Brian Pennings with the California Highway Patrol. "The answer is no, it's not illegal. There's nothing on the vehicle code that prohibits you from doing so."
"However, you have to do so safely," he said. "You have to do so without impeding the traffic of other vehicles, and you have to make that lane change safely." That includes using your signal and clearing your blind spot before changing lanes. So, if you are in the far right lane and you’re attempting to get all the way to the far left travel lane, you must activate your turn signal and then move slowly and safely, one lane at a time," he said. "Crossing multiple lanes in one movement is considered an illegal lane change and, honestly, no driver can read your mind and expect you to fly across the road."
And if California didn't convince you then what about Orlando?
"Multi-lane changes are 100 percent legal as long as we do them right," Trooper Steve said. "We have all seen it, you’re driving down a multi-lane road and suddenly someone in front of you is flying across the road from the far right lane to the far left, crossing multiple lanes in-between. This is not only crazy, but it could land you a pretty hefty traffic ticket."
To properly change multiple lanes, the driver must occupy each lane independently before changing into another lane, Trooper Steve said.
Yeah, drivers like you are the most dangerous. "Nothing wrong with what they did," what?? I'm concerned as to where you got your license...

Or maybe the car was in the truck’s blind spot, front right pillar and the truck driver didn’t see the white car. If the truck driver really wanted to be reckless he/she would’ve kept going.
Or maybe trucks don't have blind spots that are 30ft wide and directly in view of their passenger window and windshield
@@mimcduffee86 Or maybe you need a hug and a vacation to Tahiti.

"A wild semi truck appeared"
Why did my mind immediately go to pokemon
Truck drivers are so high up that they could absolutely see this car. I call bs on the truck drivers in the comments defending the truck 😂 yall just want wiggle room for your own choices
And you 4 wheeler's never take responsibility for your idiotic actions while driving
Look at the reflection in the VW's back left quarter panel. You can see the truck's yellow fender. Then after the video blinks (time jump) You see the truck is in the exact same spot. Then you see it creep forward in the reflection and almost IMMEDIATELY it is in frame. Clearly, the truck was probably less than a dozen feet from the car, and had no way of seeing him before beginning to move.
Also, being "high up" has nothing to do with it. With the long nose, the "High up" doesn't change anything. The truck dashcam vids you see on the internet are with the dash cam mounted to the ceiling of the truck, the truckers head sees through the bottom half of the windshield, not the top. You've never driven a truck, quit making shit up to feel smart lmao.
Since when do drivers who have the right of way have to yield to cross traffic? The truck could have had an obstructed view as well. Just because every other driver let you cross does not give you the right of way. PERIOD.
People get stupid as soon as they sit behind the wheel! This one got what they deserved!
That's just how truck drivers greet others
Nothing funnier to me than signs that say don't block driveway just for someone to pull out and block the drive way... 😂
I applaud that semi driver.
For what? Being blind?
@@antmess9789nah that car shouldn’t have done that anyways 💀
@@miamihonduran9954 Cars do this all the time.
I bet some old timer was driving that truck thinking that white car was a CATScale.
I’m waiting for “lawyers reaction”
Actually, if you look at the drivers door. You can see the reflection of the truck. He went into the trucks safe space. That's a straight hood like the International Eagles. You ain't gonna see that car. Don't pull in front of trucks like that unless you can make eye contact with the driver.
Added comment:
To anyone watching the video. Watch for the edit cut. The truck is sitting at a light waiting to turn left.
It was there the whole time. It cuts to the advanced green. So it jumps in time. The truck driver never sees the car sneek in under it hood. His vision is more than 30' out in this model, give or take a few feet for seat height.
He would have never seen that vehicle as he sat there. It's still his fault, though.
Given the time the vehicle was in the lane and stopped, motionless, to the point of impact. It's clear that the semi driver failed to recognize a hazard and safely control their vehicle. This strongly implies he was operating distracted. Semi driver at fault for this accident.
Lmao wrong.
@princesalami4987 unless you have driven one, you will never understand the blind spots of this particular truck.
Besides that car, you won't feel touching it until you go to grab the next gear.
That's when you think to yourself, Did I hit something? Seen it a few times in bumper to bumper traffic.
@samkdaily3055 No argument there. I'm just saying don't rely on someone else for your safety. Why take the risk?
@@kari53 I’m a long haul driver. That accident is clearly the truck drivers fault. I understand what you’re saying but you are incorrect. That truck didn’t come into frame for a long time meaning his field of view was enough to see that car. Good try tho
I don’t understand why you guys in the US still use these underpowered 70ies style trucks with the long bonnet rather than a cabin over engine design that provides so much better visibility!
There's advantages and disadvantages to both. You're assuming the advantages of an over the cab design are better in every way in every situation, which if it was that way then everybody would be using them. I don't really know much about trucks but I know through my observation of American trucks that there's definitely some reason. They are companies after all, if they don't use every advantage they will be vested by their competitors.
because cabovers look stupid and are a pain to work on
They’re safer and we don’t have as many abrupt steep inclines or declines and there’s much more space for completing turns in the US
This isn't a visibility issue. It's a distracted driver issue.
This clip is also not in the US
Must be Optimus' near sighted brother, Optical Prime.
That my friends is why you don’t let people cut into traffic.
To be fair the stopped lanes had no reason to believe they would try to cross all the way to the turn lane.
@@beerrox711to be fair, the truck could have stopped instead of intentionally hittimg the car
That's one thing that always passes me off. Stop letting people out, because they always do this shit. I know this guy didn't do anything wrong. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people let someone out and they just stop in the middle of the road and hold everyone up at a green light
Then stop blocking the fking road and this won't happen...
"a wild semi truck appeared"
Never pull up into the trucks blind spot😂😂
She shouldn't have been blocking traffic. She doesn't have the right of way either. It's totally her fault.
Semi truck was there the whole time. Car pulled in front him on his blindside
You can see the trucks reflection
A wild truck appeared *wild pokemon battle music"
Note to self - you cannot take a nap while driving.
Never direct traffic unless you're certified and on the job, if an accident occurs because you are directing traffic, you're at fault.
Truck definitely should’ve seen him. But i wonder if the law will make both at fault since he was practically side ways on the road
The law will side with the car owner, semi driver hit a non moving object.

He figured all he needed was a little push to help him get out of the parking lot
Chaos at Broadway and Clark. 😂
Oh I think he saw him... he just didn't care. I'm sure he wasn't exactly happy with that car pulling through traffic trying to make that left while blocking the turning lane for the semi. I know sometimes this is something you may have to do pulling out of somewhere and having to cross traffic to turn left but I don't like it, neither doing it myself, or seeing someone do it. In all likelihood there was probably way to exit the parking lot he was leaving and coming out to the light to make that left.
So, I see no possible way that this was an understandable accident. That truck saw the car. I would say suspend the license and put him into a safety driving course and then have him retake his truck license test in order to get his license back. There should be no legal action unless the VW driver sues for personal injuries, which there should be none.
Why did the car put his nose out?
I'm going to say the trucker likely did not see the car. Was probably looking at the light and waiting for it to turn green. While the car pulled into his blindspot across multiple lanes of traffic illegally. Then he began to initiate his turn because the car was in his blind spot.
