Just to let you know that the coil of the go find 66 detector is waterproof. U can use it on the stream.. However the controls are not, just to be mindful of..
Mine is a gofind 22 and yes definitely checked if it was waterproof before using it in water
Your settings were wrong. Lowest range but highest sound? Thus you didn't find anything.
Try with gold bars to proven how si sicetivety undergrounds depth.

I'm going to Australia in May and thinking of bringing my detector.
Depends on which state you're intending to visit. Here in Victoria you need a prospecting permit which allows you to prospect in state forests and some other crown lands however each state has different laws.

The goldfields in Western Australia are quite a drive from Perth if that's where you're planning to fly in.

@@wilfredprins9718 I've heard that there is some good prospecting to be had in the Western Australian goldfields and much of it done with metal detectors.

@@AllThingsOutdoors hi first wanted to extend my Merry Christmas wishes to you and family, my wife gave me this gift for Christmas I know so I'm trying to figure out how it works and if here in perth and around I need a permit to do some occasional prospecting?
I believe you need to have a prospecting permit in WA. We do here in Victoria which is valid for 10 years.
