Your video helped me greatly. I had the same problem... it's been 2 months since I attempted to charge my ionic. When I used the cable to charge no sign of life. I left it charging for several hours, no sign of life. I pressed all three buttons, no sign of life. When I finally pressed all three buttons, while not connected to the charging cable, it finally reset and I had 97% battery. I hope this helps someone. I know dealing with FitBit Support is frustrating and that's sad.
Worked for me. Removing charging cable and then pressing all three worked for a few seconds worked! Thanks! Having similar problem with Fitbit Versa in last couple of months.
John Paul Buenaventura I was in the same boat. these are defective and they refuse to acknowledge it. Mine wouldn’t go past the Fitbit logo after powering on.Try this (I know it sounds crazy but it worked for mine lol). I got angry after it wouldn’t turn on and I slammed it on my desk at work; obviously not too hard, the damn thing actually got past the Fitbit logo and booted up (seriously).
hey i have same experience with you with my fitbit Ionic, had talk to Service Center but my fitbit is out of warranty and they can help. I will not buy any fitbit device anymore for sure..
I am on my third fitbit ionic Here's the best tip I can offer NEVER let the watch battery drain to 0% - if it ever does it will never recover they send you a replacement that is refurbished and does not work as soon as you have to charge it. My third one died, I was distracted and it died overnight and never will recover. I had a good system to keep it charged in which I put it on the charger EVERY day while I showered shaved and brushed my teeth morning and night and it never dipped below 70%, but slipped up on this one (was distracted by an auto accident) and that's all it took - the battery dying that is. The warranty people are a nightmare and each one stopped after 8 months to the day. Thank for the video.
Same issue, my Ionic tracker bricked after not wearing it for 2 days. This was my very first fitbit and very first issue. I bought it almost exactly one year ago. I called fitbit this evening to see what could be done, and they were very helpful. We ran through several diagnostic options for a dead tracker and nothing, nada. It's still under warranty, so before we hung up they sent me a link with the option to replace the tracker (bands/cables/other are not included or covered) or get 50% off on a brand new purchase. I chose the replacement. They did not want the dead tracker back and only asked that I responsibly recycle the dead unit at an e-waste recycling facility. BTW, the replacement tracker is only covered by warranty up to the limit of the original purchase, which is a year from fitbit unless an extended warranty was purchased (my replacement will only be under warranty for a few days) . I mention this because I didn't know if I would get another year long warranty, and thought others might not know either. The answer is no, you don't. That's my experience which, all in all, was fairly painless. I hope this information helps someone.
It's nice to hear and see so many people are having the same issue as I am. I'm about 2 secs from taking a hammer to my brick and smash it into pieces and mail it in to fitbit. The ionic is way to pricey to have it turn into a brick. I treated mine very well. I never got it wet, i kept it clean. Mine stopped work last weekend. It had stopped tracking my sleep cycles and i read that shutting it down and restarting it can fix the issue. My fitbit was 80% I shut it down i waited about 5mins. went to start it back up, the fit bit icon lite up and then it just sat there nothing. screen went black, still nothing. I've plugged it into the charger nothing. I've tried the button holding nothing. I would recommend never wasting your money with fitbit, they don't stand by their product. I'm going samsung as soon as the active 2 drops.
Thank you, I was able to factory reset wifey's Iconic. Her Fitbit is very hard to charge normally, but this time it just would not light up when connected, at all. So I did what you said, and now it seems to be fine, showing it was at 97% charged. Her Fitbit is about 4 years old and mine is 3 years old. Thank God, they are both still working. I guess we got lucky. Anyway, thank you for making this video.
Hi - My Fitbit ionic would not start after I shut it down for the first time in I think two years. I pressed the left hand button for 10 seconds. Nothing. But then I followed your guidance and pressed all three buttons all at once and it turned on perfectly! Thank you!!
Definitely Fitbit lost me as a client. My ionic has the same problem since new. If it gets totally discharged it's so complicated to turn it on again. Fortunately it turns on again today doing what you're doing. Thanks!
The three button technique worked for me. I had no screen and had the same symptoms. I tried the three buttons while it was on charging cable nothing happened. Then I did it off charger and it worked. It maybe semantics, but I made sure I pressed the buttons equally at the same time. Good luck!
I just had this happen to me, thanks for the video. Mine turned on. Had this watch for three yrs and this is the first year I am starting to have problems. In the summer, the face came off so I just used some gorilla glue to stick it back on. Now, I let the battery die and this happens. Thanks again.
thanks! I tried the 3 buttons at once, while charging, and nothing. tried 2 (lower right and the one on the left) while charging, nothing. then tried the same 2 buttons, while not charging, and it worked! appreciate your video for walking me through the options.
Robbyn, I’m terribly sorry for your experience - mine wasn’t working for the last 2 days, but after trying all the options you listed, it worked. It is going on 2 years and 1 month, though, and from what I’m reading, sounds like I may need to plan on giving up on it soon. Either way, thank you so much for this video!!
Don't bother buying a Fitbit. They just don't last. My first one had the rubber peel apart and it basically disintegrated after 12 months. So I got the Ionic which seemed more robust, and it was frustrating to set up and use. The music feature was nearly impossible to get it to work. Then after 18 months it simply stopped turning on. It worked in the morning and by noon it just quit for no apparent reason. It was after the 1 year warranty, so Fitbit Help could do nothing. They actually had the audacity to say I was a valued member of the Fitbit 'family', then offered me a coupon to get 25% off another Fitbit! Why? So I can spend several hundred more dollars on a product that already showed its poor quality? How dumb do they think their customers are? Kind of insulting actually. DON'T BUY A FITBIT!
Mine just died recently; had it for about 14 months. Tried the 3-button, 2-button, random-button options with no luck. It's obvious there is a design or manufacturing flaw. I would not buy another Fitbit with this lack of quality control.
Anyway to sue these guys ? Happened to me exactly after my warranty period is over. Absolutely sucks and after plonking my hard earned money i feel cheated.
Having the same issue with the Ionic I bought less than 5 months ago. I've submitted a claim and Fitbit is giving me the run around. I've tried all the suggested fixes and nothing works. Fed up with Fitbit.
My ionic is doing the same thing. purchased in June 2018, so 2 years old. Looking for another option, as I will not buy fitbit again. looking at some of the comments, this is a common issue, and they expect you to just suck it up, and buy a new one. Yea okay, not another fitbit...... Thanks for sharing the post.
Dean Sharper Fitbit is total trash, from customer service and also the product. Wouldn’t ever recommend buying another piece of garbage Fitbit. #FITBITTRASH
Mine did the same thing. I had the surge and it died.. I got the Ionic and now it's doing it.. fitbit offers a %25 discount on a new one. NO WAY. I"m done with Fitbit.
My first ionic lasted 3months and Fitbit sent me a new one. The second one died and didn’t want to charge so when I left it in the outlet thinking it would charge like you did. I smelled burned wires and there it was burning and very hot to the touch so hot that it melted the tips on the cord and back of the watch. I demanded a complete refund from Fitbit because I could’ve gotten hurt. They gave me the run around but finally refunded my money and sent me one more for my troubles. This happened a few months ago and now the free one is also not waking up. I loved my fit bit blaze so I think I need to just go back to that. This particular one has problems and they know it but just refuses to fix it.
I just open my Christmas gift today Jan 4, 2020, and is it's a Fitbit Ionic, brand new out the box and it is giving me the same problem. Will, not power on even though I left it on the charger for about 3 hours. Thanks for the video.
Same here. This was my 2nd go-around with them. Had another model prior that quit within 6 months. They gave me a discount to buy a new one...so nice. Then it quit working about a year later. They had the nerve to tell me that they couldn't offer me another discount because they already had once. So I said you sold me a crappy watch then gave me a discount for a new one. Then it quit and you can't help me because you already did???? I was dumb enough to buy the Ionic. They got me for the last time!
Do you know how I fixed this problem? After dealing with fitbit customer service and realizing they weren't going to do anything, I bought a Garmin. No issues whatsoever. In the future, i will stay with Garmin and actually get a quality product with a company that stands behind it.
My Fitbit Versa stopped working 2 days ago. Called Customer Support for help. 😡 No luck The only the thing that was offered was a 25% coupon for another Versa or a 40% on a another watch. I don’t think 🤔 so. They want me to purchase another watch Instead of repairing the one I have. The watch comes with a 1 year warranty. I’ve had it for 1 yr and 6months. This was a Mother’s Day Gift 🎁 Mind you I didn’t wear it every day all day. WASTE of MONEY 💰
That happens to me when the battery is totally dead so I try not to let that happen. I pressed the left button and the bottom right button until the fitbit logo comes on. Thank goodness it worked!
I figured it out ( I think) Here is the scenario: 1. Fit bit battery dies 2. User connects charger and charger won’t charge 3. When not connected to charger I pressed the left single button and the right lower button 4. Screen turned on and had Sunday’s steps and info (when it died) I think they have a bug in their code. If fit bit dies, a charger won’t trigger a turn on. They need to update the firmware so it fixes this.
Their software updates were always amateurish. I have often wondered if that is what caused my ionic to die and now fail to reboot no matter what. They need to step up and reimburse everyone or else a class action suit needs to be made.
My first Fitbit ionic was randomly restarting after 6 months. They replaced it under waranty and now the new one I got 2 months ago won't turn on or react to the charger. The old one that was always restarting reacts to the charger showing 0%. I'm still within my first year since I bought the original unit back in February. I'm waiting for an answer from Fitbit. I hope they will respect the one year waranty again. I had an issue with a Versa after only 25 days and had a refund from Staples here in Canada then had issues with two Ionic units which makes me wonder about buying another brand.
Even my versa is not getting start. Switching on button is not responding Unless you do boost start i.e. to press left single button and right bottom button.. never go for fitbit. Garmin vivoactive 4 at 300 $ is best option.. or vivoactive 3 at less rate.. go for Garmin.. fitbit is very bogus
Same issue, mine just died while synchronising with the phone, fully charged...waste of money since it’s out of warranty and I barely wear it for two months since I bought it
This is my second Fitbit ionic as well. First one lasted a year and a half. Now this one hasn't even made it to 2 months. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. Not gonna buy this watch again. My Apple Watch is working perfectly fine no issues going on 4 years.
Hi everyone I had this issue for a few days, this is how I fixed it. Ensure you charge your device for a few hours, and then, this is the key! Heat your Fitbit using a hairdryer LIGHTLY! Ensure the device is warm. Due to the type of batteries they require heat to wake up. Once I heated my device up a little and held all 3 buttons for a FEW minutes and it turned on. Magical.
i called their support, take off the charger - press the left and lower right button for 15 seconds - then i saw the 0% they also said to remove charger after it's charged.
I had the same issue. My first one has the same exact problem you had and they sent me a replacement It was not even a month old and it died on me again. It is under warranty so they told me that they will send me a label and mail back the device to them. Very disappointing.
My first died after a year, then they sent me a replacement, that died after 5 months.. then Fitbit sent me a too-bad-so-sad email and suggested I buy another one
Similar experience. First ionic died after 9 months on a Saturday morning. Fitbit replaced it as it was under warranty - thank goodness they didn't want a video of following their instructions on restarting/resetting, charging, etc. I tried all that before contacting them in the first place. They sent out a new 'pebble' (the unit itself) without wanting the dead one back (makes me think they know what the problem is and that it's not fixable - or worth it). The second died two weeks ago. No luck with getting a replacement this time as the warranty expired in June. Just some coupon code to buy another defective product. Fortunately, Garmin has caught up in the music/payment space and that's where I'm headed. Goodbye and good riddance, fitbit! $279 bucks down the proverbial toilet.
my stop charging within a year , called fitbit and went thought all the trouble shooting. unfortunately it still has the same issue. They will give a replacement for free , great customer services !
Fitbit replaced mine and it does this still from time to time and I literally had to hold all the buttons in for a good 5 mins 2 different times to finally get it on. Also have to keep charging ports clean
Happened to me as well. Third Fitbit I have. This last time it just died. Battery was good, no damages and well kept. I don't want another round with Fitbit and ordered myself a Garmin Fenix 6S Solar GPS . Costs more but way more reliable and durable. Will not buy Fitbit again.
First Remove it from mobile Bluetooth and same from Fitbit app than - Go to Fitbit app on your mobile - sittings - pair new device - a pass code will appear on the screen Put it than next next etc until you finish the pairing than it will ask you for OS update proceed normal than enjoy
It happened to me.. My fitbit stopped working.. All you need to connect it with the your pc or any power source for two hours. After that disconnect it. Press the left side ten times after that immediately press both left side and the down in right for 10 sec. Once Fitbit logo appears connect the cable.
This is exactly what happened to me. They only last about six months I’ve had two and don’t plan on buying it again. I also bought the screen protectors and lost money.
My stop working and charge yesterday but I'm not in warranty my has 1 year and 5 months Fitbit giving me coupon 40% off, I dont know I will buy new Fitbit or diferente one.
Saulina they offered me the same thing, but after going on several major retailers websites and reading the reviews, everyone is having the same problem. They just don’t last. I’m going to either buy a garmin which has the best reviews, or an Apple Watch with a legit warranty.
@@sarahl.2978 I'm think same thing I see garming or Samsung reviews rigth now. For try decide but I'm no want Fitbit again... he don't ask me for vidio or nothing. Just data I buy.
Same thing happened to me. I bought multiple Fitbits (different models) and they all went bad. I bought this one hoping that the water proofing could keep up with my workouts and running. I am done with them. I have lost all faith in Fitbit.
This is my first and last Fitbit (coming from Pebble, and going back there again for a little while). It's supposed to be waterproof, and it freaked out when I dipped my hand into a bath.
Okay, don't know if this will help. Take it off the charger. Do the reboot button ordeal with all three buttons. I believe mine still did nothing. At this point I started to click all the buttons as quick and out of order as I possibly could and then it came back on. Now it is working fine.
Mine's done it too, I've charged it.It's definitely charged because it vibrates when I get a call let it run out of battery again I got the 0% battery icon pop up on the screen, but no other response again... Mine's out of warranty
Mine was doing this. Cleaned the charging port (was full of crud) pressed the left button and lower right button and it would flash zero charge a couple of times before shutting off again and thought it was a lost cause. Was watching tv and then after five minutes give or take it started charging again and started back up. Very strange. Gonna buy another brand when I have extra funds.
I just had his happen to me too. The thing is only 14 months old.. In short I was told that it cant be repaired. (I found out that Fitbit doesn't have repair center) I was told just to recycle it as the warranty had expired and offered me discount on a new device. (Is it really worth it though? knowing there is a possibly that it will happen again?)
I had the exact same problem and it did it after 6 months as well and that was in May 2019, and then I was frustrated but too busy and didn't start playing with it again until tonight. What should I do ? CAll fitbit ?
same happened to me! I missed out as mine was over a year old but acted up with having to reset it for 6 mos and still they did nothing forme!!Paid 220 at Macys last year and now want a fitness tracker but not sure who to go with. This product truly was the worst but I miss having a fitness tracker. Does anyone have any recommendations or an app on phone to track?
I don't understand why Fitbit make it so difficult to turn on the watch. I always have nightmare when it went off when the battery went flat fearing that I would not be able to turn on again. Why not improve the design by making it easier to switch on and off! If not for my country using this model to track our daily activities, I would go for Apple watch any time!
Thanks for that, it worked. This is my third iconic, the last two died, luckily before the guarantee ended. They are very glitchy for such a market leader, you would think they would get it at least nearly right. Saying that I like the product.
Mine was doing this. Cleaned the charging port pressed the left button and lower right button and it would flash zero a couple of times thought it was a lost cause. Was watching tv and then it started charging again and started back up. Very strange. Gonna buy another brand when I have extra funds.
I tried using a staple and scraping off junk in the back of my Fitbit charging hole ,and after doing everything and not working, to surprise it worked when I charged it again after getting rid of a build up!!!!
I've had 2 Ionic watches. Both lasted almost 1 year each. My wife has had 2 fitbit Sense. The first one only lasted a month, the second one is a year old and still going but...FITBIT is junk. No more for me.
Black screen wont charge had it on charger for 5 hours still nothing then I held the 3 buttons for a little while and it finally came on , first time thos every happens and first time holding 3 buttons at once and it's back to normal and works , idk why it worked after holding the 3 buttons but it did so people make sure its charged enough even if it doesnt show it charging then take off the charger and hold the 3 buttons for a while it should come on.
The 3 buttons does a factory reset. I had one that was working, did the 3 button factory reset (to clear out my credit card number) and that killed it.
I think fit bit sucks. And I hate to say that. But yeah, same watch which was like $250 and it crapped out on me within a year. I had also got the fit bit flyers and they were garbage as well.
Your video helped me greatly. I had the same problem... it's been 2 months since I attempted to charge my ionic. When I used the cable to charge no sign of life. Dude thank you, you just saved me alot of headaches. I was freaking out. Thanks again.
Glad I saw this, I tried and my fitbit finally turned on! I tried charging it for 3 days previously.
Finally worked for me held down three buttons hard as poss for ten -15 seconds after having it plugged in n removing. This didnt work previously.
Worked for me. Removing charging cable and then pressing all three worked for a few seconds worked! Thanks! Having similar problem with Fitbit Versa in last couple of months.
Thank you!
Mine lasted for 1.5yrs, its out of warranty and they dont have any repair center. Will not buy fitbit again! #fitbit #ionic

Sometimes it just goes flat in the charger too. Had one at 70%, put it in the charger and it was dead a couple of hours later.

Great job!!! I was able restart mine. It was very weird because all's I did was shut it down and then it didn't want to turn back on.
My ionic seemed bricked. Contacted fitbit, got a brand new replacement. Then I realised my plug was off at the socket. Now have two ionic watches 👍👍

My Fitbit Ionic stopped working after a year, too. It’s a poor product, sadly. No effort was made in making it function past 1 year warranty.

Does Garmin have a heart rate monitor?
@@casemods yes, they do.
I figured it out ( I think)
Here is the scenario:
1. Fit bit battery dies
2. User connects charger and charger won’t charge
3. When not connected to charger I pressed the left single button and the right lower button
4. Screen turned on and had Sunday’s steps and info (when it died)
I think they have a bug in their code.
Fitbit is junk and the company now knows it sold defective watches.
Garmin vivoactive 4 at 300 $ is best option.. or vivoactive 3 at less rate.. go for Garmin.. fitbit is very bogus
mine just went on me after 14 months ...never fitbit again
Magical.
This worked for me. Thanks
Mine did the same thing last December, out of warranty. I switched to the Samsung Galaxy II. Best decision I've ever made.
Yeah great, so is your new watch still holding up.
I did the same as you and it worked!!
I think Fitbit has seen its days and it is time for us to move on to better watches.
i called their support, take off the charger - press the left and lower right button for 15 seconds - then i saw the 0%
they also said to remove charger after it's charged.
this actually worked for me (but i pressed upper right instead of lower right). hopefully more people see your comment!
Mine does this but still won’t charge. I think the battery is toast
Thanks! holding the 3 buttons solved my issue
I had the same issue. My first one has the same exact problem you had and they sent me a replacement It was not even a month old and it died on me again. It is under warranty so they told me that they will send me a label and mail back the device to them. Very disappointing.
My first died after a year, then they sent me a replacement, that died after 5 months.. then Fitbit sent me a too-bad-so-sad email and suggested I buy another one
same thing happened with me.. cant believe they are so many people out there having this frustration with fitbit.
Did you try cleaning the charger a bit on the back of the Fitbit with alcohol?
Thank you I was just able to turn on my ionic by holding the three buttons.
Thanks for the video. It worked for me
Fitbit replaced mine and it does this still from time to time and I literally had to hold all the buttons in for a good 5 mins 2 different times to finally get it on. Also have to keep charging ports clean
5 minutes?
Same issue my fitbit ionic didn’t charge.what is the problem? Fitbit is nice watch.but the problem is didn’t charge? Can you help me??
Happened to me as well. Third Fitbit I have. This last time it just died. Battery was good, no damages and well kept. I don't want another round with Fitbit and ordered myself a Garmin Fenix 6S Solar GPS . Costs more but way more reliable and durable. Will not buy Fitbit again.
First Remove it from mobile Bluetooth and same from Fitbit app than
- Go to Fitbit app on your mobile
- sittings
- pair new device
- a pass code will appear on the screen
Put it than next next etc until you finish the pairing than it will ask you for OS update proceed normal than enjoy
It happened to me.. My fitbit stopped working.. All you need to connect it with the your pc or any power source for two hours. After that disconnect it. Press the left side ten times after that immediately press both left side and the down in right for 10 sec. Once Fitbit logo appears connect the cable.
You need to know how to do the hard reset
Awad Al-Shehri is this what the hard reset is? I have tried this and it hasn’t worked.
This workedfor me!
Rage at its finest.
This worked for me thank you so much!
This actually worked for mine! Thank you.
🤣
Mine's done it too, I've charged it.It's definitely charged because it vibrates when I get a call let it run out of battery again I got the 0% battery icon pop up on the screen, but no other response again... Mine's out of warranty
Fitbit ionic hours no longer work, what should I do. Thanks
Thank you!! The 3 buttons worked for me!!
Thank you very much for your help. This actually worked for me.
Mine is 4 months old doing same thing did not buy warranty.
Wondering if this is to do with clock faces as mine wasnt syncing then shut it down n didn't turn back on
Mine was doing this.
The 3 buttons worked for me perfectly!
Fitbit replaced mine. Thanks
Did you have warranty
My Fitbit is Alta and it didn’t charge or if it did it wouldn’t turn on..... I hate this I’m so frustrated
same happened to me!
David Griffin thank you! Glad it helped!
Hold in main button and bottom left button..not all 3.
Just done my ionic and it works fine
I tried the method and it worked. Thanks
My watch just showing 0% all the time , if I remove my watch from the charger it’s dead it’s not charging
Mine was doing this. Cleaned the charging port pressed the left button and lower right button and it would flash zero a couple of times thought it was a lost cause. Was watching tv and then it started charging again and started back up. Very strange. Gonna buy another brand when I have extra funds.
Thank you cuttie pie, it worked for me, i love you.
Mine did the same thing after a year but it came back on after pushing all three buttons and holding for about 10 seconds
Same thing happened to mine. Obvious design fault. Loved it when it worked. Won't be buying any other product from Fitbit anytime soon
I tried using a staple and scraping off junk in the back of my Fitbit charging hole ,and after doing everything and not working, to surprise it worked when I charged it again after getting rid of a build up!!!!
Add another one to the dead list. Battery was dead. I hit all 3 buttons to reboot. Now it's stuck on logo screen. Will be shopping for another brand.
pressed all three buttons worked for me .
It works for me😊 thank you!
I've had 2 Ionic watches. Both lasted almost 1 year each. My wife has had 2 fitbit Sense. The first one only lasted a month, the second one is a year old and still going but...FITBIT is junk. No more for me.
My 1st one did it after 1 year then my 2nd after 2 months. Now 3rd time again
Clean your charging port. My had dirt in it and quit charging. Cleaned it out with a sewing needle. Works great now
mine dies as well just after warranty ran out, $400 paper weight and they wont touch it
Broooooo it worked! Thanks youu!
Brilliant - worked for me - thank you!
mine was 1 month old when it died but thank god it was on warranty and i got it replaced
Obsolescencia programada, la batería muere y no carga más, solo reemplazandola se corrige el problema
Black screen wont charge had it on charger for 5 hours still nothing then I held the 3 buttons for a little while and it finally came on , first time thos every happens and first time holding 3 buttons at once and it's back to normal and works , idk why it worked after holding the 3 buttons but it did so people make sure its charged enough even if it doesnt show it charging then take off the charger and hold the 3 buttons for a while it should come on.
i had black screen and it wouldn't turn on;tried your 3 button suggestion and it worked!watch is back to normal! thanks
Same thing happened to me. 2 fitbit ionics wont charge or reset...
this is my 3rd ionic!!! Horrible product!
They do this on purpose so u can buy another one i think
Fitbit ionic hours no longer work What should I do Shukran
Fitbit ionic hours no longer work, what should I do. Thanks
