LYRICS
You're a fraud and you know it
But it's too good to throw it all away
Anyone would do the same
You've got 'em going
And you're careful not to show it
Sometimes you even fool yourself a bit
It's like magic
But it's always been a smoke and mirrors game
Anyone would do the same
So now that you've arrived well you wonder
What is it that you've done to make the grade
And should you do the same?
(Is that too easy?)
Are you only trying to please them
Will they see then-
You're desperate to deliver
Anything that could give you
A sense of reassurance
When you look in the mirror
Such highs and lows
You put on quite a show
All these highs and lows
And you're never really sure
What you do it for
Well do you even want to know?
You put on quite a show
(Mother)
Are you watching?
Are you watching?
(Mother)
(Mother)
Are you watching?
You're a fraud and you know it
And every night and day you take the stage
And it always entertains
You're giving pleasure
And that's admirable you tell yourself
And so you'd gladly sell yourself
To others
(Mother)
Are you watching?
(Mother)
Are you watching?
Are you watching?
Such highs and lows
You put on quite a show
All these highs and lows
And you're never really sure
What you do it for
Well do you even want to know?
Yeah you put on quite a show
Suits always picks the best songs
The intro is awesome but the whole song sucks tho my opinion
Harvey is Mike the best
Cedric Louis-Guerin strangely this is how I feel aswell. Half of the song is useless to me =P
And it was surprisingly relevant
I mean he was going into the name partners office thinking he'd been found out and the words ''you're a fraud and you know it'' come on. it gave me chills. I was like did they make this song for this episode?
-Why was he so dazed when he walked out?
-I told him I was proud of him.
You need to give that boy some more encouragement
😂😂😂😂😂 💯💯💯💯💯 sholl why I'm here!!!
#suits
🤣
This show is why I am here!!!
The scene Mike came around in the firm right after being discovered and this song plays: Perfect fit
Carnavalle indead it fittet perfectly
yeah
I guess it was composed by gotye for this season, for this very moment...
I found this song because of that scene, JUST PERFECT
Ikr, I guess it was made for this only.
She Knows...scariest words ever
So true lol
No, she knows, and we need to talk. Also yes I know a six year old comment, but I'm drunk and don't care lmao
I know something even scarier... "he knows"
Personally I think this is even better than 'someone I used to know'
so, so much better imo
Tanmay Bhave most of his songs are a lot better which is sad because that's mainly what he's known for.
That song was also really good... problem was that the radio overplayed it so much that it got boring
Tanmay Bhave totalmente... 😍😍
Tanmay Bhave he is an artist with a bachelor in arts if you know him you will probably listen to anything he makes
Whoever picks the music for suits is awesome!!
+Javon Lofton The wife of the producer actually heard this song and insisted he would use it in Suits. He loved the song and thought that it was a good idea to use it at the beginning of Season 2, so he did.
I thought I didn't like it, but the theme tune kinda grew on me :')
I agree. It´s addictive. I´ve just started watching on Netflix and I spend hours watching it and the music maks is really a bonus.
Suits is a show with a relative small main cast (6) but all of them show a splendid performance every single episode. Apart from their stunning characters is the dialogue what makes me come back for more suits episodes every time again.
'Giri/Haji' reminded me how much I love this song
This song is truly amazing. All of his songs are. Theres such a vast soundscape to all of his work, and the amount of meaning you can take from it all I'd endless. The music videos as well are phenomenal! I appreciate how much love and attention every song gets and all the different art styles used of showing it. I can't believe I never saw any of these before haha
i resonate with you jaja
He's so underrated it genuinely hurts
YES. You're both right. He's painfully underrated, and I get why: his big hit is instantly accessible in sound and theme, and the rest are just more subtle. But they grow on you and once they have you they never let you go. That "vast soundscape" is a perfect way to put it--he has INCREDIBLE musical range... the nuances are just incredible.
I wish more people would give this genius a deeper look. He's more than worthy of it.
I'm not here because of Suits. I was actually going through all his tracks. Big fuckin woop.
no one cares
calm down no one gives a shit
calm down guys its 9years old comment
@@misterkid no one cares that you dont care
@@johngrisham3784 no one cares that no one cares that no one cares
This perfectly resonates with Mike in Suits. The song choice is brilliant.
Just goes so well with suits, class song
Agreed. He's a musical chameleon. And not in any cheap karaoke-like way. It's clear every song is genuine, sincere, and born of real talent.
I'm here because I like gotye's music. I don't even know what Suits is
A small minority, but an influential one.
I, too, have no clue what Suits is.
Same
Vanessa M. Its a great series no Netflix About lawyers
It's a good-ish drama series on Netflix about law, deceit, and just your average corporate competition
I was re-listening to this album a few weeks ago and this song came on and I was like, "Ah, yes. This was in Suits when Mike is walking down the sidewalk." And my mom was immediately like, "We have to rewatch that." My parents and I just got to season 2 and it was exactly as I remembered it. Also this album is money. Somebody That I Used to Know is, like, the least impressive song on the album. Gotye has such a unique sound.
Stop trying to downplay Somebody That I Used To Know just because it got popular. It's definitely not the least impressive song on the album
@@Zansekai sorry, what I mean was, I personally find it to be the least impressive song on the album, which doesn't adequately reflect the strangeness and nuance of which Gotye is capable, in both his musicality and his lyrics.
There's nothing wrong with popular 'radio' music, or artists who primarily make radio music. But I think it's a shame when some with that much talent and that unique of a sound is reduced to a single radio hit. 🤷
@@LeahDino32 you watched suits enough you sound like one lol
That last ARE YOU WATCHING? Chills every time.
One of the best albums I've bought in a long time, his music is simply brilliant.
I don't know what suits is, but I'm here to listen to some Gotye o_o
Suits is a tv series, where a guy becomes an attorney without having a college degree (from Harvard), so he has to fake it that he studied at Harvard. This guy, Mike is very smart so he convinces one of the attorneys (Harvey) to hire him.
onee Why thank you

Not the "Suits" I am talking about. But you already knew that.
onee Sarcasm reigns
Been listening to Wally since the start. Always thought he was a weird guy, always had a deep respect for his words. The impact his art has left on my life is irreversible.
What do you mean, my Harvard diploma looks fake? If it's because it's printed on the back of a Thai menu, well that's perfectly normal.
Came from Giri/Haji... And damn that song sends shivers down my spine
listen to it in the morning smoking a cig with breakfeast as the sun rising as its quiet in the house
then you will hear tranquility and peace of mind.
And you get lung cancer from smoking that big cig
it's on my morning songs list too...
50% of comments about suits, 47% of comments about random shit (as per usual in youtube) and exactly 3% about how great the song actually is.
big 👍 ☺
+Kube XXIII thank you lol
+Kube XXIII I'm here bcs of suits but it doesn't mean that song is not good. The song is actually really good

2019? Anyone who didn't forget about this song?

Listen to "House of Mirrors" by David Axelrod. Very similar! ❤
Why is this so relatable.
Here because of Suits
Is that a show ?
julie last not just a show, but THE SHOW.
mike nooo
That program is a life changer Idec
julie last It's a hacky lawyer show on USA. Average as best.
Damn. I used this song as my alarm for a few years after high school. Can't stand it now.
Shame, it's such a good one.
Welcome to the ‘I just like the album and I’ve never watched Suits’ club
We’re glad to have you
Great album - remind me some of the best mid-80s music. Really balanced relese.
2022 and I still love this song, btw thanks Suits for showing me this song!
All Gotye's music is so deep!
goddammit Ross
+Abu-KLN Just because Gotye's australian?
No, it's a Suits Reference. This song was used in the series quite a few times.
he's belgian
Lick&Chord Guitar Lessons I mean it could be a Game Grumps reference.
Yep spoiler he gets caught anyway
wait he hAS OTHER SONGS TOO?
My absolute favorite...so far
GOD I LOVE THIS SONG
Uhh to all you people who kept mentioning "Suits". . . THANK YOU!! I'm in love with that show now!
The orchestra of this song is such beauty.
I had to look up for this song when Mike came out from the Elevator and it started playing 2nd time..Great show, superb song!
I remember the times this video had 200.000 views, before it was used in Suits...
Well it's a good thing they used it in the series now everyone knows this amazing song :)
That's a first. Usually people be like, I knew this song before it became mainstream and got ruined. One of the few very sensible comments on youtube. Power to you. :)
ugur sakarya buralarda mısın hala ::
@@nishant5 The only downside is fanbases grow around a single track. Saw it at a concert of Triggerfinger. They did a cover (I follow rivers) , at the show room was filled with all these fans only knowing that one song, funny thing was that the rest of their songs are a lot harder. People were in for a surprise ;).
I don't know what suits is...
Fuck it! Suits brought me here :)
It's the awesome show about a young man with amazing intellect who is wasting his talents cheating on exams for people or selling drugs until he meets a renowned lawyer called Harvey Specter. He manages to convince Harvey to hire him and their adventures begin
Ebeneezer stark sounded pretty interesting ... then you said he was hired by a lawyer
creepersssssBOOM It's a good watch. But if you have a problem with lawyers, i don't recommend it
Suits brought me here. Heard a snippet and had to hear the rest. Great song.
I was not expecting the Suits comments lols. I love how tv shows pair their scenes with the perfect songs.
This is such a psychological song.. i think it's relating to people with ASPD and Other personality disorders, as We feel hollow inside once we are alone, and live life wearing a mask of a normal person. The Highs and Lows greatly reflect this. Great song.
This song has A Perfect Circle written all over it, even the way Gotye sounds, is so similar to Maynard.
that mother are you watching parts gives me so much the smiths vibes
Probably one of the best television shows ever.
I'm just here because I bought the album and just wanted to see other people's opinion on the song.
you made the right choice to buy this album.
Never regretted following Gotye.
This is probably my favorite album next to like drawing blood. He has such a huge range of genres I really can't wait till he releases a new album.

Damn I never payed attention to the lyrics when this music played in Suits (English is not my first language), it is so perfect for the first episode of Season 2 !
Who could possibly have a reason to dislike this song? 68 people are obviously oblivious to good music
Glad i'm not the only one who came here today because I can't get the Suits episode out of my head. Went so hard...
Didn't have to look too far to find the suits comments lololol
It's an epidemic
Glorious... this is just amazing, interesting words, excelent sound
Thanks Mr Gotye
Just SUITS, finally season 3 is here, love from GREECE and have a nice summer!!
The look on Mike's face as he walks in to Pearson Hardman from the elevator is just hilarious!! :P
My best track on suits👌🔥🔥🔥
first time i heard this song i thought of suits.... then i heard it in suits XD
Me to it just sounds like new York classic and then he says your a fraud and you know it
it fit incredibly.. how audio can amplify the visual is awesome. they did a great job.
this. omg. suits is exactly this. like seriously 8-D
the song gives me shivers.. having an eargasm? is that what you say when you feel like this???
This song reminds me of some black and white tuxedo dancing vibe
This song sounds like if all my favorite bands were smashed together in 1 song
I like the one guy Harvey , backbone helps with everything, kickass writing
While i wasn't looking music went back into the hands of artists.
argHHHHHHH part at 1:47 is just amazing
When he said and so you'll gladly sell yourself to others,
The phrasing makes it sound like sell your soul. I wonder if that was intentional. He's a genius if it was. He's a genius either way but that would be the proverbial cherry.
It's not offensive, but it's wrong to just say it doesn't sound like that. I had someone referencing the song in a joke and they said soul.
I caught it because that's what I heard. Otherwise I wouldn't have even wrote the comment.
This isn't objective, sound is a subjective experience.
It's still going on bud, I thought it got canceled because of the long hiatus between season 1 and 2 and now season 3 is out, so glad I rediscovered this show!!
all of his songs are 1000x better with headphones. if you don’t have headphones in GO. GET. SOME. you won’t regret it.
such highs n lows
very deep
much gotye
wow
Giri/Haji
Suits without this track haven't climate.
Dunno what this Suits thing is but this song does not get old.
season 2 episode 1 of suits got me here
Giji/Haji anyone?
What I love about Gotye songs, particularly this one, is that anyone can interpret and relate to it one way. Just reading the first comment page I've read many different ways people felt a connection to the song.
Gotye and his band are phenomenal. I had the privilege to be at their concert in Grand Prairie,TX. And they rock so hard! Everyone so amazingly talented is beyond words!
Every song makes me start swaying and dancing not even three seconds in. It's odd, yet exotically different and refreshing. Hate to make simple comparisons but it's like if Depeche Mode music with The Cure lyrics with both of their vocal range smashed together into this modern re-inspiration.
SUITS!!!
Wally de backer you are my inspiration for writing and when my book is published I would wish for you to read it... I love you and your songs so much you got me hooked on em!!
fallen in love with this song after watching suits...... keep it up gotye stay blessed.....
Hell of a song! This is coming from a music critic and music expert at Rolling Stone Magazine. I love all kinds of music, but this song stands out in 2012!
Nice song.
and with the best suites and that rachel WOOF!!!!!
Idk the show suits but this is such an underrated song
+1
This piece was mixed beautifully bro. Vocals are as clear as can be. You need to check your speakers. You also have to take into account that the entire album was recorded and produced in Gotye's house and in a macbook pro.
Suits
Need more music like this.
I can't help but think of The IT Crowd when I hear this song.
LOL this is the soundtrack of any banker's life XD

What about Money by Pink Floyd
Suits, Mike's about to get stung.
My favorite musician as of today.
magnificent song
Here from Giri/Haji and not Suits. Raise your hands if you are the same.
everyone seems to have gotten here from suits, but i got here from giri/haji
Should hit a million soon. The episode that has this song just aired in some parts of Canada.
ikr I love this song
This song went perfectly with the suits episode :) Amazing show.
It's a pretty cool show about an incredibly smart young man named Mike Ross who, after a few wacky misadventures, ends up becoming a lawyer for a law firm despite never going to Harvard (a requirement to become a lawyer there) and never even passing the LSAT or BAR officially.
He passed LSAT, but for Harvard dean's daughter. Than he was forever banned from applying to Harvard
thank you. suits looks like an awesome series. I'm gonna check it out
Fookin beautiful
