You are a great help. Have to agree with the "giving up the reward system thing" . Read real analysis once, and that whole "volume read" thing just blew away. In 3 days.😂😂

Just for kicks, how would YOU learn a language if you were to?

putting that off for a while, however...
      a potential 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙜𝙮:
-Find a 'vibes' book on the language, for english speakers.
--something elucidating the interesting bits of the language
---perhaps the autobiography of a translator
      BUT FIRST
I am gonna learn about 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 first before diving in
I have only dabbled in the subject --𝗯𝘂𝘁-- it is absolutely 𝘧𝘢𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨,
      𝗔𝗡𝗗
it offers such insight into language that
      --(this is pure speculation)--
it would help tremendously in picking up a new one

Mental Map requires to answer the following questions :
    Who,
    What,
    How,
    Why,
    When,
    Where.
These questions are in increasing order of complexity. The mental Map will be fully complete only when each such layer is completed.
You can browse the book multiple times to get from an overview to breakdown of topics, more detailed levels.

what i'd do is find a university curriculum first, and with your tips maybe figure out which topic would be of interest to me
