@@0623kaboom ~ This is incorrect, all one has to do is type "turkey hunting" or "hunting" into UA-cam search and there are literally 1000's of videos of complete hunts, and channels that feature nothing but hunting. It has zero to do with UA-cam removal (unless it is an illegal hunt or endangered animal), it has to do with Shawn's personal choice on how much of a hunt to show on _his_ channel.

I'm still wrapping my head around the fact that you have huntable populations of wild turkeys in Ontario. That's great! Until I saw turkeys on one of your videos from a few weeks ago, it never even occurred to me that you might have them. I can remember when turkeys were brought back to all the counties in Missouri, USA, where I live. They had been extirpated in most counties, but were reintroduced starting in the 1960s. They are extremely abundant now.

@Potwheelz Sure other people might have more time and more experience to make things we need but can't necessarily make on our own. Do we need such a system to the scale we have today? I doubt the answer's "yes". People living off the grid today might need to buy things coming from that system simply because our current structure doesn't allow them to do it any other way. All mines and factories etc are owned by big corporations, land is expensive and has restrictions as to what you can do with it when it's available, and very few people have the mindset and knowledge to live like Shawn does. Besides, homesteaders were and are still jacks of all trades, each person working one specialized job is only possible and useful for the kind of civilization we have today.
Any functioning society, modern or not, has to be built by several people over a certain amount of time, so no one should be expected to just run butt naked into the woods and have everything they need on the next day. The point of living this kind of life isn't to undo tens of thousands of years of technological advances, start from scratch and make everything yourself, it's to experience it and learn from it and distance yourself from things you don't necessarily need. I also think it's cynical and disrespectful to disregard the amount of work these people put in to live the way they do. "All he did was kill a few turkeys" that statement is ignorant on so many levels
Be open minded, question what you're told, and you might learn a thing or two. Otherwise, keep your hot takes to yourself and don't go around putting down other people's accomplishments from the comfort of your room.

Greetings from Norway and the home of Jøtul :) I remember you was thinking about a food storage raised hut thing - just like Proenneke. The roof would catch more sun and allow to add more juice to your batterybank? The off grid power is highly valued and can allways be improved.
Also, I am sure your wellbeing would appreciate two smaller sage stool that is small enough to let you use your knee ans a "third hand" to support the object? I use only that when in need for freehand sawing and drilling.

Thus makes me think of my grandmother with the chickens. They would run around with heads off ( must be the nerves/) But she would have to get the feathers off etc etc.. Cooked the chicken and it was really the best chicken in the world. I loved 'Chicken and Dumplings'. She used to say " Chicken today and feathers tomorrow" ( an old saying, so it seems)
You have brought back many great memories with your Turkey hunting!!! lol Such Great ,clean living. Maybe a little harder, in some ways, and yet not in other ways. There is a trade-off.
Grandma grew up in NYC area and then moved to the country after finishing school and met grandpa and they owned the whole road named after them. ( My great grandparents who lived far up the hill came from Germany and that is when they settled there and bought the whole road) It was great with two large rivers and lots and lots of land, of course. We could Ice skate, and just had such great memories. I had five female cousins who lived across the road, so could spend weekends playing with them during there days. . Grandma baked etc. Sometimes we (cousins and I) would have to spend about half a day going into the fields to get strawberries ( smaller ones) and we would (eat them as much as picking them) and then bring them back to grandma and she would make " Strawberry Shortcake" When quite small, grandpa would have us ride the COW. ( Betty the cow) now she never walked fast, but she was a sweet cow to put up with us! But we only did that if grandpa was with us.
Grandpa wanted mom and dad to build a home across road and sort of up a bit from there home, and it had a Spring on the land. Grandpa said " Get logs from woods to build a cabin. " Dad and mom never did that as they wanted to live in town. So I got used to spending half my kife in a village, and yet in the country too! My cousin enjoyed visiting me in town! We each got used to how the other ones lived.

Love the cabin, the way of life, the outdoor oven, the off grid living,....but why is nobody talking? Where are the good morning hugs and smiles that would go along with this wonderful lifestyle? Even some down home Virgina music quiety playing in the backgroun would be a welcoming asset. Thanks for sharing folks.

Dont think he has the time lol. He's clearing land for a bush garden, building a work shop and trying to finish his home all at once. Plus daily chores haha.

Good ol’ Keanu Reeves a fellow Kanaka Maoli (Polynesian Kane)JW is a badass series of underworld activity that is rarely seen ((Most content is over exaggerated, but at one time mainly the 80’s police corruption was prevalent and cocaine was the choice of drug throughout the world “supply&demand” and many who were addicted ironically were very influential characters putting law enforcement at odds when trying to stop the 🌊flow of Cocaine coming out of ✈️🛩South America. The major distributors were tied into the CIA therefore getting “TONS” yes metric tons of the “Devils Dandruff “ brought in by the government themselves...)) Hahaha!! What a tangent, Cabins& Bushcraft to hit men&drugs!!!lol!!🍻Cheers Canadian’s🙃🙂
