I'm still wrapping my head around the fact that you have huntable populations of wild turkeys in Ontario. That's great! Until I saw turkeys on one of your videos from a few weeks ago, it never even occurred to me that you might have them. I can remember when turkeys were brought back to all the counties in Missouri, USA, where I live. They had been extirpated in most counties, but were reintroduced starting in the 1960s. They are extremely abundant now.
Being a turkey hunter too, I know how difficult it is to harvest a turkey with a bow and then to do it with a recurve is doubly impressive..... and film it. WOW - Congrats.
@Potwheelz Sure other people might have more time and more experience to make things we need but can't necessarily make on our own. Do we need such a system to the scale we have today? I doubt the answer's "yes". People living off the grid today might need to buy things coming from that system simply because our current structure doesn't allow them to do it any other way. All mines and factories etc are owned by big corporations, land is expensive and has restrictions as to what you can do with it when it's available, and very few people have the mindset and knowledge to live like Shawn does. Besides, homesteaders were and are still jacks of all trades, each person working one specialized job is only possible and useful for the kind of civilization we have today. Any functioning society, modern or not, has to be built by several people over a certain amount of time, so no one should be expected to just run butt naked into the woods and have everything they need on the next day. The point of living this kind of life isn't to undo tens of thousands of years of technological advances, start from scratch and make everything yourself, it's to experience it and learn from it and distance yourself from things you don't necessarily need. I also think it's cynical and disrespectful to disregard the amount of work these people put in to live the way they do. "All he did was kill a few turkeys" that statement is ignorant on so many levels Be open minded, question what you're told, and you might learn a thing or two. Otherwise, keep your hot takes to yourself and don't go around putting down other people's accomplishments from the comfort of your room.

( Betty the cow) now she never walked fast, but she was a sweet cow to put up with us! But we only did that if grandpa was with us. Grandpa wanted mom and dad to build a home across road and sort of up a bit from there home, and it had a Spring on the land. Grandpa said " Get logs from woods to build a cabin. " Dad and mom never did that as they wanted to live in town. So I got used to spending half my kife in a village, and yet in the country too! My cousin enjoyed visiting me in town!
