      I did this on my '95 GTS, but back in 2004, so plywood wasn't quite so valuable back then. It's a great project. Thanks for watching and commenting! - Darren

    Man, that makes a great spot for battery relocation. I'm not worried about weight, I just think that space is better for storage than a seat.

    I made a 94 GT 5.0 with leather seating and Mach 460 sound with 5 speed go from 3430lbs to 2800 plus by removing almost everything, going with all aluminum LS motor, powerglide. On a QA1 k member, still has stock dash panel with nothing under it but wiring. SN95 drag car lighter than most notchbacks

    I would have done a couple of things different id put some Dana Matt or equivalent sound deadener insulation in the wells then the carpet. I would close up the hole between the cabin and trunk for heating and noise as it is his winter beater. Eather fiber board/ plywood or maybe even foam poster board from Walmart/local hobby store. Just my two cents.

      Agreed on those great points, my own delete is similar to what you are describing. Shawn on the other hand wanted no such "comforts" and decided to go for the lighest, cheapest possible option. Thanks for the comment and for watching! - Darren

      @@GrandTouringConcepts you are very welcome and I understand where Sean's coming from but also know how cold it gets up where you guys are at and comfort to me is a big thing. So closing up the trunk will help with the heat and help with the AC in the summer time if it has AC on it I can't remember.

    Sweet guys nice work. it'd be cool to see more of your gts back seat delete. I,m interested in seeing what you made of the extra storage space, for like tools and other nefarious things (^_^) if you could see my trunk on my 95 cobra you'd understand why i asked. haha went from driving a 96 buick roadmaster with a 350 and a 6 body trunk to a mustang with a 1 and a half body trunk. lol

    How much noise transfers from the open trunk area?? Also how about heat/ cold from the trunk??

    • @GrandTouringConcepts
      @GrandTouringConcepts  5 років тому

      Its a bit hard to describe, but there is certainly more noise. Things like the fuel pump prime etc. are more pronounced. For the average hooligan its fine, if you have a decerning "co-driver" it might be a bit too much. As far as cold goes, don't really notice a change, the heater keeps it warm. Best way to test is to fold the seats down and drive around for a week, see if its right for you. Thanks for the question and for watching. - Darren

    what do you think it would take to get this car under 3000 pounds?

    • @GrandTouringConcepts
      @GrandTouringConcepts  5 років тому

      To get under 3000lbs, you would certainly have to make some concessions to passenger comfort. Remove the passenger seat, gut the remainder of the interior, etc. You could also do things like tossing the swaybars, but the deletions can be detrimental depending on your goals. The V8 cars only weigh about 3200 lbs so long as junk like baller wheels and bodykits are skipped. At any rate, seek easy lightness, then simply add power to achieve whatever goal you are after. Thanks for watching and commenting! - Darren

    • @jdsilvaca
      @jdsilvaca 5 років тому

      Aftermarket K-member, aluminum heads, a/c delete, gut the interior, remove all factory speakers and amps, remove spare tire and Jack and you are there. I have a 94 Cobra. I only have a driver seat in mine.

    • @GrandTouringConcepts
      @GrandTouringConcepts  5 років тому +1

      @@jdsilvaca in the case of this V6 car its a little more tricky, the 3.8L cars are factory aluminum heads, this car is already an AC delete, and does not have a spare or jacking kit. We scaled it out at 3070 lbs before the seat was deleted and subframes were added. V8 cars have a heavier engine and other bits, generally they are 3200-3300 lbs in our experience when equipped with a full interior. Losing 2-300 lbs does mean a lot of creature comfort things got to go. Thanks for commenting! - Darren
