Bulgarian Feast - Didn't expect to find this place!

This was a quick day trip into Bulgaria to take a friend into another country. Plan was just to get in and out while our mate was waiting for his visa request to be finalised in Bucharest. We ended up in Veliko Tarnovo about 85 kms or an hours drive South from the border crossing at Ruse.
What a great find! Beautiful little city which is the cultural and historic capital of the country. Set in a valley with the Yantra river running through it and ringed by mountains with old fortresses, it was an awesome place to visit. Somewhere worth going back to. As we got hungry we found a restaurant in the middle of town called 'Shtastliveca'. The food here was world class, very tasty, set in a place that was well decorated, easy to access and had a rear deck with outstanding view down the gorge. Highly recommend maps.app.goo.g... . Their platters for 2 or 3 were superb.
Wrapped up the visit with a quick visit in the forest to a monastery and old church.
