I have been watching and following Gaynor for some time now (from Texas), and wanted to sing your praises online. You are a breath of fresh air for me artistically and personally every week. The world needs more like you! Thank you for sharing, and the more you paint on camera, the happier I am watching 😊
Hello Gaynor, I cant believe how similar our sofas look, right down to the yellow and black abundance of pillows that I put out for summer 😂🥰! You have inspired me to order my first concertinas today:) Each week that I watch you, there is something I must try or buy for my practice and I adore this! The new concertina painting you started reminds me of abstract music scales...very cool!!! Have a lovely week!!! Your friend across the pond, Samahra
Hello Samahra, Craig is constantly saying 'no more cushions' !!!! So pleased to read that you have a concertina on order.....you will love it, I'm sure. Have a fantastic week XX
Morning Gaynor!Love your funky intro..very arty!!Impressed with your collection of sketchbooks under your sofa!Rocket not so much..he was soon off when you flipped the concertina one open!🤣lol! Great vibrant use of colours, looks like an urban street scene, telegraph poles and bright shrubs and trees..wonderful as is but I know things are going to change!😀And it did!!!intrigued to see your next steps…Don’t know about you but I think it’s great fun scraping thick paint Off to reveal the underneath and very therapeutic!!Oops with the ink!!It’s natural for us to want to clean up in a panic mode!!😆Thank you for such a fun and inspiring video, love your attire btw..very summery!Have a fab week!❤
Love to see you actually work on paintings! Pictures ARE worth a thousand words. Another very inspiring video on the progression of works ‘on the stove brewing!” 😊😂
I am so inspired by your spirit & how brave you are. Seeing you press thru to find the place that feels right for each piece you create gives me hope for my work. I can never get it right when I start but must always make a mess. Even if one plans a painting, it doesn’t always feel right. You’re on track to do what you need to! Gaynor, keep going! Your work is gorgeous! And whatever you do to the bird painting, I know it will be fantastic! 😊 Fresh, intuitive and modern! ❤️ Mary in AZ ❤️🙏🏻
Hello Mary, Heartfelt thanks for sending a lovely message...it isn't easy to find your flow but keep exploring, keep enjoying the process and the practice and it will come....your expression will out !!! Sending a big hug XX
I always remove masking tape while hitting the tape and paper with heat from my blow dryer. Since I've started doing that I haven't had any problems with torn paper. Love your work Gaynor. Thank you so much for sharing.
love concertina sketchbooks. Just endless fun! A hairdryer run over the tape can help to lift it without removing the paper. Just use gentle heat and don't go too close because it can tend to leave sticky residue on the page, depending on the tape. So many variables, so just experiment on something not too precious first so you don't damage something you just love. Thanks for the inspiring art chat each week. So enjoy and look forward to it.
I've got two identical concertinas being precious in the cupboard - I'm definitely going to bring them into the light. Love the paper bag and birdie paintings but even more Rocket's wonderful expressive tail !
Oh how I love Thursdays! This was such fun. Love the bird painting, and florals. Your little concertina is great. Great variety in it, and the addition of solid blue is a nice place for the eyes to rest, the floral bits are joyful. Thanks so much.
Another fun video, Gaynor! I love the concertina! So much inspiration here. Your laughter is infectious; the ink spill…totally something I would’ve done. Why did I waste all that ink? 😄. Thank you for being a bright spot.
After your latest release of colorful energy and so much more, I start a new painting. I also start watching your collection of videos on my iPhone. Then thru the week I rewatch them on my iPad. And then on my computer. And then on my T V. And then on my iPhone. My art has improved. My attitude towards art has changed. My view of color has deepened. And my hope to express myself continues to grow. Please do as you like and always be happy. Just be you. You are perfect and more than enough!!
Ooow lovely stuff going on Gaynor. Ive been away in England getting inspired by Somerset and Devon soft hills and fields. Cant wait to get back to my studio and get cracking. I love the abstracty, minimalist, painting behind you ❤ Thank you bringing lots of colour into our lives.......Alioban 🥀🌻🌼🌷xx
If you don't want the tape to lift your paper, trying warming it with a hairdryer before pulling it. I love watching the layers of your concertina sketchbook! It's always a surprise where you go with it. Such vibrant and fun colours. I dropped a jar of maple syrup on my floor yesterday, so I sympathise - though I wish I could have mopped it up and used it to a good purpose! Happy painting!
HelloGaynor, such a joy to wake up this morning and know it’s Thursday. Its likely others will comment, but I keep a hairdryer close by and if you heat the masking tape gently, it releases from the paper without damage. You probably already know this. Edit. Orange is to me what Phalo green is to you 😂
I’ve commented so many times on your lovely art, so I’m going to change it up by saying you look so happy & healthy & I love your summer wear! Big hug to Rocket and his fun “handle” tail ❤
New sub here. Morning, Gaynor. It’s such a treat for the senses to watch your creative juices transforming paper and paint into such delightful pieces. I’m a mature artist but hadn’t touched painting since my 20s until last Nov: I’m on that fun road now, learning as I go. New medium, new techniques, new methods of expression. Your generous attitude is really helpful and it’s clear how much happiness it brings when flowing with so much inspiration: what a liberated life, and it shows. Thank you.
I love to hear from new subs XX Thank you for watching and taking time to message. I am really happy to read that you are reconnecting with paint !!! It is such good stuff XXX
Maybe what you want is drafting tape. Sometimes masking tape is too sticky. I am in my second handmade concertina book. I had watched your tutorial a while back. Just finished my second chair painting! Nice feeling to know I’m finished with that. Having soooo much fun thanks to you. Will try a long painting next!
I’m just packing to go to Thailand to meet our son and his wife and my 2 grandchildren. I’ve put together some little sketchbooks and tiny watercolour palates and brushes (I didn’t dare pack tubes of paint!). Hopefully my grandchildren might enjoy some sketching with me on our lovely holiday.
Gosh Gaynor, you just make the most wonderful art, no matter what you are working on. As you were working in the concertina I kept trying to guess what you would do next and your choices were far better than my guesses! But you have inspired me to go buy a concertina book! Thank you again!
Hello Gaynor - looking at the allium picture I have an idea for a new picture of a dressing table with pretty bottles of perfume, mirror and small vase of flowers. What do you think?
LOL. I spilled half a bottle of black acrylic ink on my floor the other day, but sadly, it's carpet. We knew we'd likely have to replace the carpet if/when we ever move, but I guess I just confirmed it! I was able to use some newsprint to soak up some of the ink, but it was just a huge mess. And I'm seeing a progression from spring into summer in the concertina with the shift from the lighter to bolder colors.
Love what you show here from the beginning and along the journey through the pages of the concertina. You take of my fear to begin and to fail… and I think I must come back and rework my concertinas and really try to get something more from them. Taking time, trying new things… letting go and feeling more confident. What a wonderful help we find through your videos. I always wait them very much ! Great thank you and have a nice end of week. Here summer is and nature and gardens are so beautiful and inspiring for concertinas work….🌞🌼🌺
Yes, I have sketchbooks in drawers and on shelves waiting to be used. There’s something about stationery that just attracts creative types obviously 😁😁 I’m meeting my daughter in town today and I’m already feeling the joy of spending time in our local art shop buying yet another sketch book to add to the collection, I love concertina sketchbooks😂.I’ve just got to add, I do use them it just takes a long time 😂😂👍🇬🇧
Hi Gaynor 👋 I am in love with that bird painting 😍 Great to the concertina progress, I have only recently discovered them and were a bit overwhelming to start with but so fun when you get going! ❤
Enjoying every little bit that you show us as you are working and sharing your home and life. I watch intensely. Thank you for sharing your unique art process. Wondering if you have experimented with acrylic skins? Videos are popping up on my UA-cam page so I am considering it might be a new tool for me... a new layer I might add. The painting you showed us at the beginning of the video is supreme, love it!
I have a concertina that I’m saving for a special occasion too lol 😂I’ve had it over a year. Not quite sure what I’m waiting for. I don’t want to spoil it 😂😂
My family used to buy my father clothing for his birthdays, Father's Day, etc. He put them all in his closet and said he was saving them for good, as he called it. He is now deceased. And he never wore any of those clothes. I am guilty of this as well.
Hello Gaynor, I too collect sketchbooks but have a fear of ‘spoiling’ them with my artwork. What are we like🤦🏻♀️ Love your concertina. So much paint on such a small book😏 I look forward to seeing where it goes. No doubt it will all change and you will surprise us yet again. 🤔🤣👍🏻Have a lovely week.💐
I love concertinas and l just realized l have forgotten about doing them and like you l have a few stashed away now only if l can remember where 😅, love your videos thankyou for the inspiration, my next experimentation for this weekend and heat the tape before takening off the paper it won't tear it when you peel it off . ❤❤
You can use a heat gun to melt the glue on the masking tape before peeling up avoiding tearing the paper but you probably already know this! I know this and still don't do it! 😂 I'm enjoying seeing you work on the long horizontal landscapes. I need to try pulling tools through thick paint - I haven't experimented with this enough. Wishing you a creative productive week ahead Gaynor. X
