I just wanted to let you know that I discovered your UA-cam channel about four months ago at a time when I was just recovering from a reconstructive arm and elbow surgery after a bicycle accident which left me now most use of my non-dominant hand, but you gave me courage to get back into my studio and I now have I don’t know 10 things started and I love your techniques, I don’t ever finish anything the same day or the same week but your techniques have made me such a better intuitive artist. I just wanted to let you know that keep fighting and we hope to see you when you are ready and well.

Hello Gaynor, I am with you that abstract Art is more difficult. In my opinion a good abstract piece can only be Born if you let you inner Voice come through. You Need to want to Share something what you cannot stay otherwise. Only than it will be good. I made one which took me days to get out during a painting course. Everytime somebody would look it was different.first random, than wild, than chaos, at the end 20 layers to be organized with all Kind of Talking through the layers. Abstract cannot be fast Art. A good piece needs time to develop, sometimes even a year. It is Great to follow your Channel, i picked up your idea to paint the Cover of the sketchbook and that is Great fun. Hello Maria, I put a photograph of a few finished cards on the video....the cards are ongoing for me ! As a child I adored being given picture cards and then being asked to write a story. I just love your small canvas paintings. In fact, they inspired me to go to Michaels to buy a few canvases but I was overwhelmed by the choice and had to come home to think about it. It will happen! but just being in the art shop was exciting enough. LOL I am working on a large piece of textile art and it's difficult to think small and in a different medium when I'm in that zone. It is an important piece so I must stay focused! I love boat and water scenes and I have made many textiles of them. I always struggle with the boat shapes but they come. Now I look forward to painting them perhaps also including some of my dyed fabric. It's exciting to have new ideas to look forward to in the new year and they will percolate until then. I feel so accomplished today. I started working in my (handmade) concertina and then moved on to my card stock. I was able to loosely sketch a tree with paint, adding a darker layer on the top and then with my fingers adding white to the shape. It was brilliant! The whole thing came together quickly, surprisingly. I didn’t have to agonize over every mark. And it’s all thanks to you. I didn’t add glitter 🤪 but I punched out some gold dots and glued them on top. And presto- one beautiful card done! You ask for helpful hints. So I will say I think your boat looks rather small on your large canvas, just my opinion… Have a wonderful week!

Very enlightening ! Thank you for sharing bits of your life with us! It has always been hard for me to understand that warm colors, Yellow, red, orange and combinations always with varying amounts of white, come forward and cool colors, dark blue, purple, green and combinations with black recede. Shadows also have color and the same rules apply with shadows. All painting, be it representational or abstract or all of the possibilities in between, are about the illusion of creating shape and space with depth in color or value on a flat plain or the denial of that illusion. It is a struggle. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Linda, I attach my painted paper to a backing board and place the mount (mat) on top and that can either go in a frame under glass or in cello to be sold as unframed work X

Hello Trixi, I usually paint them white, they sit in tray frames with deep sides, so not that visible. I have a few old paintings on box canvases without frames in the house and those I painted to match the main image. 😊

I just love your small canvas paintings. In fact, they inspired me to go to Michaels to buy a few canvases but I was overwhelmed by the choice and had to come home to think about it. It will happen! but just being in the art shop was exciting enough. LOL
I am working on a large piece of textile art and it's difficult to think small and in a different medium when I'm in that zone. It is an important piece so I must stay focused! I love boat and water scenes and I have made many textiles of them. I always struggle with the boat shapes but they come. Now I look forward to painting them perhaps also including some of my dyed fabric. It's exciting to have new ideas to look forward to in the new year and they will percolate until then.

I feel so accomplished today. I started working in my (handmade) concertina and then moved on to my card stock. I was able to loosely sketch a tree with paint, adding a darker layer on the top and then with my fingers adding white to the shape. It was brilliant! The whole thing came together quickly, surprisingly. I didn’t have to agonize over every mark. And it’s all thanks to you. I didn’t add glitter 🤪 but I punched out some gold dots and glued them on top. And presto- one beautiful card done!
You ask for helpful hints. So I will say I think your boat looks rather small on your large canvas, just my opinion… Have a wonderful week!

Loved the hand warmer unboxing shock! 😂 I really enjoyed looking your art process Gaynor, seeing how you took various elements from the inspiration board of your pictures, to make your boat painting to create something different. I've being doing my painted paper collage this week on an A4 wooden panel but after watching you numerous times on here Gaynor, next year I want to go LARGE!!! Ha ha!!! Very enlightening ! Thank you for sharing bits of your life with us! It has always been hard for me to understand that warm colors, Yellow, red, orange and combinations always with varying amounts of white, come forward and cool colors, dark blue, purple, green and combinations with black recede. Shadows also have color and the same rules apply with shadows. All painting, be it representational or abstract or all of the possibilities in between, are about the illusion of creating shape and space with depth in color or value on a flat plain or the denial of that illusion. It is a struggle. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Linda, I attach my painted paper to a backing board and place the mount (mat) on top and that can either go in a frame under glass or in cello to be sold as unframed work X

What do you do about the sides of your paintings?
Hello Trixi, I usually paint them white, they sit in tray frames with deep sides, so not that visible. I have a few old paintings on box canvases without frames in the house and those I painted to match the main image. 😊

Hello Connie, I guess it depends on how they are tied to anchor bouys, the wind, the tide etc I will pay more attention the next time I get to the coast 😊
