This series is laugh out loud funny to me, but to each their own. I hope they bring it back one day. All 3 seasons were comedy gold!
I just hope that Ricky and Karl do something together again, I'm not really bothered about Steve he can stay in his 11 ft high, 1 ft wide cave for me
Karl has seen too much of the world now for things to be such a big culture shock for him. I'd love to see more of his stuff, but they'd have to find a new avenue..

I'm certain John Williams was very heavily inspired by Lawrence of Arabia when he wrote the score for Indy Jones, so you were partly right. ;)

I haven't seen this show in years, I watched this so many times when I was younger. He made a season 2 of this series, I hope you guys get to that one day too!
3 seasons all together
I was supposed to go to Jordan in 2009 but I ended up in hospital the day before my flight left. Nothing serious, but a long waiting list so it had to happen when they had their slot or it would've been months before I had that chance again. Apart from better hotels, no surprise kidnapping training and no dancing taxi drivers I would've had a similar travel plan to Karl's with a few days in Israel before going to Jordan, camel ride across the desert to get there and most likely abandoning that plan after a day or two of whining to hitch a ride there and back on local Toyota pickup. Since I had to cancel at such short notice there wasn't much of a refund and I ended up going to Crete instead (Cheap tickets easily available) with plans to go the next year instead. Then the Arab spring happened in 2010 and all of the sudden Jordan was pretty much a no-go by my judgement and I haven't had the opportunity to go since. It probably would have been safe-ish when I planned to go in early 2010 but I wasn't taking those chances seeing what was brewing in parts of the Middle-East and ongoing in other parts.
I was so glad when I discovered Karl later that year and got to see his take on it! I tend to have a similar mindset and humor as Karl on a lot of subjects except I love history and would kill to go the places he's been so this episode really resonated with me. Specially considering he actually kinda enjoyed this trip unlike all the other ones.
Always fun to watch these episodes and other Karl content with you guys!

Karl nailed it on the head when he said you never hear anything good about Israel , it's only ever bad. But you are not allowed to criticize the apartheid state for fear of being antisemitic , ridiculous. I love his often simple , but true view of the world.
He also said he`d never heard a good word said about Palestine.... find the connection. As for apartheid, how many Jewish ministers are there in the Palestinian goverment? last time I counted there are about 10 Arab members of Israel`s goverment of 60. There are Arab high court judges, doctors, even generals in the Israeli Army and commanders in the Police. There Are Arab news presenters on radio and television , actors , singers musicians all performing to audiences of Israelis, black white Jewish and Arab, secular and religious. So either you know nothing about Israel or you don`t know what apartheid was. One of the reasons you probably don`t hear anything good about Israel is that you either don`t listen, you filter it out or listen only to media as biased as you appear to be. But take comfort, I didn`t call you anti-semetic... just uninformed and bigoted.

People who have no knowledge of the situation in Israel throw about terminology that bears no relationship to the actual reality. Look into the history of Soth African Apartheid , which is what he compared to the position of Arabs in Israel. I gave a list of the positions political and civilian held currently or in the very recent past by Arab citizen, none of which would have been even remotely possible for the Black citizen in SA during apartheid but that`s the narrative being pushed . Call it what you want. When I have criticism of the policies of the Israeli government I voice them in Israel but when I see people misrepresenting the situation then I`ll call them out on it.

The easiest way to get to Petra is from Eilath in Israel, it's only a two hour drive but 48 hours on a camel is way more entertaining😁
The military service in Israel is two years and both men and woman has to do it, Torah readers are exempt and they are many.

Interesting to see the exact places I have been to years ago, but with new, refreshing, funny and interesting insight. People go visiting and kissing stones over there while a full blown apartheid is happening right before their eyes. Tear down those walls and then come and pray for blessings.

The thing is what Karl says does sort of make sense the first time you hear it but then you're brain tells you there's something wrong and that's when you laugh. They could make a movie with Tom Hanks as Karl but there's no way it would be as funny as the real thing.
