34:04 There's no Taco Bell but the town of Utqiagvik, the northernmost town in the US (just down the road from Barrow Point, where Karl probably stayed with those elderly women) has a Subway.
What I like about Karl is he isn't bothered with putting on fronts or caring about if he's following social rules like most people. You can see this unnecessary barrier to varying degrees with some reactors too. The more wacky theories aside people are so used to trying to appear normal it's sad really. Like a self consciousness of how they'll appear to others. They shake their heads & have this ridiculous wall that still remains up that's more than close mindedness. It's like a a very minor fear response that keeps them from truly enjoying what they're watching. I don't think they even realize it. Just be yourself. Relax. Am I making sense?
Its because we have been systematically been slowly programmed to respond in a politicaly correct way to situations that isn't our norm even though some things are not in our life experience. But u have to act like it is to not "offend" people. Though most of those people don't expect it cause they understand our cultures are different. So the media and tv have been slowly programming us we are racist if u react weirdly to different life experiences that is not part of your daily life or culture. Or u are homophobic or transphobic. They're gonna be censored or demonetized, (internet policing" if they react other then politicaly correct to certain things that Karl is experiencing even if they agree with Karl or feel the same about that situation. So I understand why they do it even though u know they are being disingenuous.
Ice Road Truckers airs in Germany and Luxemburg too. Quite like the show. I watched Idiot Abroad when it first came out, forgot how quickly annoyed Karl is.
I would LOVE to do huskey sledding! It's on my list! They are running and excited, because it's their "job". Working dogs like huskies, Labradors, spaniels, German shepherds need a "job" to feel fulfilled. That's what their bred for over thousands of years. It's their job, and love to please, but it's all fun for them 🙂
Weird question. When Americans are watching a British show and suddenly another American pops up on that show, do they hear the US accent as more pronounced? Does it shift a bit and become somewhat noticeable? I don't know if I'm explaining this right but something strange happens where it feels out of place, at least I've always felt that when it's the other way around and I hear a British accent on an American show.
It's worth considering that British accents in American shows are usually your more prim and proper queen's English British. Which is out of place in most of Britain anyway. Its rarely a scouser or a brummy or something popping up on American TV.
I'm American, but have watched a lot of British mystery shows. One thing that I have noticed is when they have a British actor play an American on your T.V. shows, sometimes I can tell that they aren't really American. Sometimes something is a bit off the accent. It might not be as noticeable to the British audience for which it's intended if they don't watch a lit of our TV. The other thing that I noticed is that every once in a while the writers will have the American character say something that an American wouldn't say, like mobile instead of cell or zed instead of zee for the letter z. Sometimes it's done on purpose, but sometimes it isn't. On American T.V., sometimes there are actors doing an American accent, usually a sort of neutral mid western accent. I have noticed that even those who are British or Australian that do an excellent American accent have trouble with the word anything. They tend to pronounce it more like: enna thing. A good example of this was Anna Torv from the show Fringe. Except for that word, her accent was perfect. If I hadn't known that she was Australian, I never would have guessed that she wasn't American. I agree with the other comment that usually we get posh English accents here. I do think now that I have watched a few British shows that I would be more likely to detect a fake British accent, too.
My Dad is a massive fan of ice road truckers he got in to it because he was a HGV Driver ( lorry driver / Trucker / Big rig rider) and love to see how it was for other Drivers across the pond.
Funny thing with Huskies to realize is that they're actually not supposed to listen to humans as much as other working dogs because they LEAD the human. They find the safe way to cross things, they find a way through. They'll attempt to ignore humans giving them bad direction. And yep, they WANT to run.
Ya can tell daniels in the trade I thought the same too but surely they could have like a klargester tank fitted that gets emptied once a few months instead of a bucket
I know how it feels to be travel sick, I’ve had it for years it’s awful feeling sick, but then again you feel awful afterwards but at least the nausea is gone. Hard to explain. Horrible feeling though.
Remember doing geography at school Alaska was part of Russia and they sold it to America in the late 1800s. And Alaska is closed to Russia can't remember what part of Alaska but there's river and they can see Russia. 🇬🇧
Is whale meat sushi? I'd say it could be because there is no such thing as a fish. There's seafood and marine animals etc. but what exactly defines what a fish is?
Yes they use whale in sushi, moreso in Japan. And there is such thing as a fish lol... fish has gills, whales are mammals. You're kinda using words as if they can not overlap - something can be both seafood and a marine animal at the same time.
@@brzzzy no, @CiA is correct. Scientifically, there is no such thing as fish. There are species of what we class as fish that are more closely related to us than they are to each other. Just because they all live underwater and have gills doesn't mean they're in any way related. It's like saying bats are birds because they have wings and can fly or a platypus is a bird because it lays eggs and has a bill.
This is the YT reactions staple. 🤣 but why doesn't America do a similar show. Too afraid to poke fun at yourselves. I'd call it Typical. a Yank adventure.. but it wouldn't be funny because it's every American. Classic line "i thought we did it first"
Ricky's statistic about polar bears and testicular cancer doesn't make sense. Of course more people will die in the UK from this type of cancer or any type of cancer for that matter because there are no polar bears in the UK 😂
FYI: We get 'Ice Road Truckers' on British TV too... 👌👍
Yeah! What about that Mayland
And deadliest catch 🐟🐙
And also in the north of Canada too, the ice roads.
I used to love that show, until it got a bit too samey for me.
That ice truckers show is popular in the UK too
All I do is wait for your Karl Pilkington content. Love enjoying these with you both. Love from Australia!
Same here, it's the only vids I watch from these guys.. Also from 🇦🇺
" Awesome. It's all downhill. WOOOOOOOOO! "
" Fuckin dead right there, since I got off the plane it's been downhill " .

Finally 👏🏻👏🏻 love it lads
Daniel, really nice point about the the sewage, they can't have what we've got,it would just freeze! So they do what they have to!
“AM TRYING TO WATCH FUCKIN KING KONG ERE!” will forever be the greatest KP quote.

I catch myself doing it too. It's natural. It's alright so long as you recognize it and focus on what matters. Old people are the best at it

💯 I think this absolutely. Well put. It's a fear of offending anybody or getting a strike from UA-cam.
This is one of my favourite episodes! So pleased that you guys are reacting to it!
Haha Dr Fox. He was a big big music radio DJ in london haha. I think Karl worked for him at one point too?
Typical Brit. Saying yes I’m alright , no matter what. 🤣
Lions and Tiger's and bear's, Oh My!. Lololol Brilliant!. Much love from the UK
Felt sorry for kp on this one
He made a polar opposite pun and no one acknowledges it, heresy!
I just realised the looping music on the King Kong DVD was probably playing on the menu before the film.
Most definitely which makes it funnier 😂
Hahaha i never thought of that
Sushi is not necessarily raw fish. 'Sushi' can be vegetarian. 'Sashimi' is raw fish.
Cheers!
A lot of what people call sushi is actually cooked fish
Feel like I have been waiting years for this
Pity point Barrow is now a water park 😆
You've got to watch "Would I lie to you", I once brought a horse
That was hilarious
We have ice road truckers over here guys same show
Karl being so defeated on the boat shouting at a broken TV and not knowing the dvd is playing the home menu loop is brilliant
We've got Ice Road Truckers on TV here in Sweden too!
Ice Road Truckers airs in Germany and Luxemburg too. Quite like the show. I watched Idiot Abroad when it first came out, forgot how quickly annoyed Karl is.

I've always wanted to go to Alaska, I'd love to emigrate there. Love the cold and snow ❄️
Finally 😂 been far too long between episodes. This is amazing.
Brilliant- thanks guys for showing this - throughly enjoyed it and your input 👍🏿🥰🇦🇺

Yep, we're very proud in the UK of almost completely eradicating deaths caused by polar bears.
ice Road Truckers is over here and quite popular. same with the Australian version.
Karls Prostate exam is a short but hysterical watch !
We have the history channel and Ice road truckers in the UK! you'd be surprised how saturated with american tv we are over here :D
Ya can tell daniels in the trade I thought the same too but surely they could have like a klargester tank fitted that gets emptied once a few months instead of a bucket
Whenever shit gets tough Karl starts acting like he’s sick to get out of it

I recall the Thai ladyboys but I missed out on the Taiwanese cross dressers.
How did you get on at the dentist mate?
How did you get on at your interview mate?
Don't forget the white walkers
Alaska is one place of always dreamed about, the scenery and animal life absolutely mind blowing. Maybe next time around 🤔
Ice Road truckers was also shown here in UK, I think they sold that show around the world.
Unless the film crew were getting their hands dirty on that fishing boat, there clearly were free spots.
Remember doing geography at school Alaska was part of Russia and they sold it to America in the late 1800s. And Alaska is closed to Russia can't remember what part of Alaska but there's river and they can see Russia. 🇬🇧
Sushi is partly even if it’s only half a seconds it’s still partly cooked you guys mean sashimi (that’s the raw one lol)
Sushi is not fish Sushi is the rice the raw fish is normally served with it. But also can be chicken or veg
Alaska has all the apex predators including sasquatch
I've road truckers is a worldwide show I'm sure, we definitely have it in the uk

Ricky you are so evil.Poor Karl
That was just too mean. Poor Karl was so deflated in the end he couldn’t give a stuff about seeing a whale. Not funny!
