Fabulous! Geordie and Raven really compliment each other on this track. Still one of my favourite songs and still sounds fresh after nearly 40 years. Forever Remain Geordie and Raven ❤❤❤
as someone who grew up in the 70's and graduated in '81 - it's amazing this band slipped through the cracks for a lot of people including myself. Every person in the band has a unique and outstanding presence that draws you in...I am so glad I found them, if even though it was a couple decades later. Still resonates no matter when you listen...
@c3 Killing joke are still going strong, at the concerts now you'll get kids in high school too. People are starting to recognize them finally, I guess they realized they missed Van Gogh, like myself, I was a teenager when I found them. In Chicago there was always dark danse/or industrial/and goth mostly 2nd or third wave goth like Rosetta Stone or Incubus Succubus etc. Then the L.A. stuff - it was because of Waxx Traxx and I grew up around AL Jourgensen's house. That whole area was underground trendy in the 90s - I was bound to run into killing joke and Læther Strip, there was a British goth vibe here then. Throbbing Gristle, Skinny Puppy, Wire, NitzerEbb..........sorry I just kept typing.
Good on those who made the effort. The rest are musical philistines. At least Dave Grohl knew who they were. His drumming on the self titled 2013 album was utterly phenomenal
A band with an identity crisis borne out of the fact that they were so original. Very difficult to classify this. Whatever, it has some brilliant moments. Memorable.
I think it's hard to classify because it has the core characteristics of hard rock and heavy metal, yet the vocals have a real pop sensibility about them, and nothing had really found its way into the UK charts around that time; it was a simply confounding sound for a lot of people in the UK, I believe. They simply went through every sub genre there was in the late 70s and early 80s until they reached some success in 1985 that they exhausted themselves, and everyone else. You only have to look at a few bands, Metallica and Faith No More who, in their infancy, both borrow and make nods toward early Killing Jokes early sound: a thrash metal band, and funk, hard rock band, that you begin to realise their influence on the west coast 80s metal and grunge scene.Definitely up there with Faith No More as some of the more interesting and influential bands of that era.
Love watching the distinctive differences between the Tube audience who watched KJ and the clueless dolts seen here. The latter have absolutely no idea how to react, where your Tube crowd were obviously alternative/new wavers who gave a damn about what they were hearing. Easily one of THE greatest tunes of the 1980s, along with She Sells Sanctuary by The Cult....
@Jasper Neil Sincere apologies...I can't read....I missed the "the"...Indeed I am from the UK and would have recognized the meaning had I read more carefully !..Stay safe !..Will now get that horse-hair shirt...
i could never get tired of this song
Me, neither. I keep playing it over and over!

Absolute Classic.Remember How good this sounded pounding out of Nightclub speakers back in the day.
It was mimed mate 😂…great tune though!
@@KevinKaffy Did he say it wasn't mimed? Your comment is an irrelevance.
@@KevinKaffy Did you think Top Of The Pops was a programme called Nightclub? Which would mean Top Of The Pops did not exist.
My mistake guys apologies. Is there any good live version of this tune?
Even mimed and synced, this is powerful - Jaz knew how to put on a performance. RIP Raven and Geordie.
This tune has aged amazingly well!
Killing Joke were so fucking cool back in the day.
The fact that mainstream radio affords this song 'classic' status these days shows just how much of a brilliant a piece of music it really is . . .
Really??. In the UK or US?
Classic.
God I love this song!

Beautiful Song!!!
I love the whole Punk and New Wave music from 1977-1982 but I think I extended a bit more
Good idea re syncing TOTP footage with better audio. More people should do this coz there’s some great appearances
Yeah thanks

The link between U2 and Muse. Blending the best of both.
@c3 So does Muse
Yes - you simply don't get a band like Killing Joke!
