The server staff from MVP are investing **A LOT** of resources into their community and this server. Events can be found on their discord or their guildedgg site. All information is in the description. If you want to participate in some Korean Era dogfights, I would recommend to get on their socials (discord or guildedgg) and join the events. The server is not populated 24/7, it's more event based but the events are weekly. Kudos to Bonkers for coining the term 'Ballet in the Sky.'
This is why it's my favourite era. You're right in that there really is nothing quite like it. Mig alley is pure pilot vs pilot chess. It's immensely satisfying. And more fun to watch too imo since it's easier to follow.
It's very interesting because the match up is so equal. Can't really just yank and out turn or expect to be able to dive away to solve all your problems, so the fight develops over several minutes so it is a slow burn with marginal gains to slowly come out over top. It's very different and interesting.
I am so glad I found your channel. I love the DCS MiG15, F86 and cold war planes (F5, MiG21, Viggen). I've played DCS for a few years but not regularly so my fighting skills are not great. Seeing your vids on Korea1952 and the ColdWar Server has got me really motivated to fly more regularly and try to level up my BFM skills and try to be more than just cannon fodder for all you skilled fliers out there.
Thanks for spotlighting this and your right great servers need to be shown off. And I'm so glad the Korean era of combat aviation is finally getting some well-deserved attention in DCS!
It’s been about 4 months sense I last flew on this server good to see it getting better. Also a heads up to anyone getting the mig 15, it’s gun sight is only accurate for the 2 23mm guns and not the 37mm.
I hope this server is still alive, just got the F86 after reading a book on the air war in Korea, really hope to actually face players in these amazing dog fights
Just bought the Mig 15-Bis...have the Saber too...cant wait for the Corsair! I love your channel, and can't wait to try out all of these on this Korea dedicated server...if not for your channel I wouldn't have know about it! Thanks for sharing!
This is why we need a Koren Conflict map. And we desperately need a F9F Panther to go with the Corsair, and Skyraider.... we have a Mustang. F-80, F-84 would be sweet too. Props and jets, carriers.....
Nice video, you had me actually sitting on the edge of my seat. I've also made a fool myself and also moved my head several times, because I am using Track IR in DCS. The footage was pretty immersive.
I just purchased the Hunters Over The Yalu campaign and finished the first mission, super fun. I'm just trying to get comfortable with the Sabre first by doing some campaign missions, but would love to fly on this server. I'll check out the discord.
My fav jet era, though I mostly play ww2 planes. Pitty the server isnt populated as cold war server where mig21 is dominating. Up close and personal all the way!
It's a very niche but interesting period of time. I am not a huge Korea War enthusiast but as a gamer, I think it has actually a lot of potential and it is often overlooked.
I want to quit war thunder so that I can invest in the equipment I want to play this game. I'm such a sim nerd and these two modules would be all I play, honestly. This is the most beautiful era of dogfighting, in my opinion. Incredible

Currently only flying the mig. Because I split my time between mostly il2 and a bit of dcs, I cannot keep all of the planes and their procedures in my head. So mostly focus on redfor + the mirage
Today, Russian and American historians such as Cookie Sewall and Diego Zampinni admit that on 10/01/1955, not 10/08, there was the first kill of a jet by another jet. An F-80 Shooting Star patrol engaged three MiG-15s and veteran First Lieutenant Semyon Fyodorovich Khominich spotted 10 F-80F aircraft. Khomonich turned left, leaving the sun behind in combat formation. As a result of their attack, an F-80 was shot down. He opened fire at 800 meters, and stopped firing at less than 200 meters. Coming out of his attack, the lieutenant struggled to gain altitude. Major Bordun with the rest of the team attacked four F-80s that were trying to attack Khominich. The Americans went to the others without success, and finally abandoned the fight..." "...The Russian-built fighter was flown by five Air Force pilots. The F-86A-5 Saber underperformed when compared to the MIG-15. However, the superior training and tactics of the US pilots established a "kill ratio" better than 8:1 over MIG. [ kill-ratio also fixed: 1.3 to 1 ] (Photo: National Archives and Records Administration) *www.aviation-history.com/mikoyan/mig15.html*
@@snow1-2pinkkush46 Just think of it this way. These planes don't have missiles so they have to maneuver but they don't have afterburners or can really break the sound barrier so they are just trapped in this era where they need speed and maneuverability and they can't do both. It almost feels like flying Me-262s. So it forces you to really fly slower, not in terms of speed, but just in the way you throw around maneuvers. It's sort of a chess match more so than other fights where you may just try to nose up and climb away with ease in a 109 vs a hurricane. There is no really easy out so the fights are just much more nuanced than usual. It's a ballet.
19:00 UTC on Saturdays. I think they do some Thursday events at the same time but I have not taken part in those. If you are on the fence, next Saturday just peek the server pop after 19:00 UTC.
I've had a UA-cam account since 2005 and I've apparently amassed a large amount of diverse quality videos. I say that because I actually have subscribers, I've never created anything on UA-cam so they must be there because they like my playlists, or, or possibly in addition to the people I have subscribed too. In all this time I have never subscribed to someone after only watching one video. Until today that is.
@@Enigma89 You're very welcome, and actually thank you for showing atleast for me my best path for getting into and feeling competent with DCS. I'm a disabled Veteran and some of the damage is neurological. I have a deep love and real world working experience with the F-14 but that's a lot to learn for the average person but when it can take 2-3 times as along to absorb information it's going to take at minimum several off days of like 6-8 hours of just learning. My Mirage will take less but still a lot of time where I'm not actually relaxing but back in school. The Saber I can confidently climb in cold and dark start her up and be screaming past angles 20 before I know it. So I think I'm going to take a few more days putting myself through flight school then trying out the mentioned multiplayer channels. I'm also hoping mastering this platform will also translate into being a better Tomcat and Mirage pilot.
My only real issue with this platform is how I mapped the parking break, I have X56 throttle Gunfighter 3 F-14, Cross Wind V3's and both WinWing panels and I fly in VR. I used the big tailhook handle for the parking break which I guess the system doesn't like it. I'm unable to release brakes and move. At first the problem was twofold I fixed one issue by inverting my toe brakes. One successful take off happened because I must have gotten the right movement in the tailhook control which appears to be treated as 3 or 4 different buttons. I'm thinking maybe it would be better to put parking brake on that one little funky thumbstick like thing on the take off panel or maybe the pinky button next to NWS release.
Great fight...but DUDE, you need to utilize the roll more , use air-brakes...stop the never-ending turn reversals...at slower speeds the mig accelerates faster then f86...low and slow the mig is has the advantage..you missed 4 or 5 good opportunities on those F86’s....😣😣😣
If DCS was accurate the F-86 could easily exceed Mach 1 and not have control issues, Plus the MiG-15 would be able to easily climb away from an F-86 unless it was the F model…

@@snow1-2pinkkush46 ahha honestly, its NOT EVEN CLOSE. what modules do you have for dcs? This will change once the pacific starts. the FM is on a different league and lets not even talk about damage modeling
@@fastfed I hate to break this to you but the DCS WWII scene is not very competitive, the missions lack depth and the DCS business model isn't very conducive to capture the breadth of WWII aircraft. There is a reason why places like the Finnish Server have more stable population of enthusiast than the DCS WWII server. The DCS WWII scene is pretty much for casuals to tip their toes into WWII, I have no idea why DCS even bothers with WWII. Their rendering / spotting system is terrible, the damage model is not anything special by any means and the multiplayer scene is across the board is not healthy. In my opinion it would be much better to just go narrower and deeper on the cold war era which is where the game excels IMO. Is it impressive that DCS can model planes to such a detailed degree, sure. But I personally prefer competitive gameplay over anything and DCS WWII is simply not competitive or interesting. The Korea server is interesting because it is different and the plane match up focuses on skill because the variance between the planes is very slight so its still asymmetric but there is no easy out for anyone. Each to their own but you have my POV now.
