Scream Machine saved Great Adventure from closing in the 90s after the haunted house incident and all the crime that happened that blew consumer confidence in this park. After GASM opened? Attendance numbers and trust in this park skyrocketed to new heights and saved this park. Six Flags should have preserved GASM and invested in retracking it to make it smooth again and getting new trains(like some parks overseas that are saving some loopers like it) instead of wasting money on a relocated old uncomfortable B&M stand up coaster from a park that was closing that was never gonna live up to the hype GASM had and cause so much discomfort and pain to riders. I was very sad to see GASM go and I am still bitter about it today. Closing GASM for that crap Green Lantern was one of the worst business decisions in this parks history and it will forever be a stain on it to me.

I almost wanted to turn the video off seeing Lantern in that state. Lantern was my 2nd favorite B&M. It absolutely powers through it's layout and has great forces. It pains me seeing Lantern get torn up like that. Still trying to prepare myself for Ka but that is certainly going to be rough and emotional seeing it go. I thank you very much for providing us these updates even though in my heart, I really do not want to watch it
Why do I almost feel like I’m looking at a dead person? Coasters aren’t alive, but they are so full of memories of fun and nostalgia, and seeing one be half way gone is almost like it’s dead
The Lantern statue from the entrance plaza and the rest of the Green Lantern origin story theming looks to still be intact for Green Lantern. Hoping they move those to a storage location to be reused in the park somewhere else.
Another sign that Green Lantern is being scrapped is that there are no cranes nearby to carefully dismantle the coaster. They just have excavators equipped with shears and grapples to demolish and load out the steel to be shipped off to the nearest scrap yard
I don't understand the relevance of this. At this stage in the process, all you need is to see the steel track that has been cut and torn apart. Most vloggers were reporting on the lack of cranes a week ago.
They weren’t lying when they were talking about taking this out quickly also it is sad that they didn’t just give it sit down trains and send it to a park that needed a good ride. If we think this is bad just wait for when Ka comes tumbling down which I don’t want to see

Looking at some of the close-ups of Lantern's track, It appears that it had been showing signs of aging. I've seen a lot of track ties on the ride that were welded and repaired. I wouldn't be surprised if the ride was very close to the end of its service life and moving it at this advanced stage would do no favors to the structural integrity of the track. Let's hope that Valleyfair has a great new ride coming in the next few years.

On top of that it sours the looks of the place in my opinion too. All that awesome engineering, suddenly just ripped up and getting tossed away. Seeing B&Ms scrapped is wild. I can understand them scrapping this as sad as it is. The positive Gs these standups inflict does cause the track to take a beating. Stress cracks aren’t all that uncommon on this model. Maintenance can and do weld them back, but even with welding it’s still going to get progressively rougher until you put new track on it. Green Lantern is already at a disadvantage from that standpoint having been relocated once anyways. Wish they could’ve relocated this, but they probably looked at that option and determined it wasn’t worth the trouble.
Exactly. With the intense forces and high center of gravity from riders, an older standup just can't feasibly be relocated. At this point, it would require all new track. I've seen a lot of recent pictures of lantern where the track repairs and welding are very visible. It was likely just time for this ride to say goodbye.

Cedar Fair could have improved the ride by adding sit-down trains instead of shutting it down entirely. The poor performance seemed to stem mainly from the discomfort of the stand-up trains.
@@namevone and Patriot just isn't worth the trouble. It's not very marketable as a "new" ride and the age of its track will present a lot of problems after relocation.
Wow...Gary Story is rolling in his grave. Frontier City could use a newer coaster like this without scrapping it! We`ve got 60 acres of undeveloped land along with getting the new OKANA indoor water park and resort (4th largest in the nation), hosting the 2028 Olympics here in OKC and of course the Legends Tower. Atleast we saved the bottom half of "lightn loops" from Great Adventure (Diamondback).
Honestly? Good riddance to Green Lantern, not painful at all except that ride experience. My last few rides on that thing were not very fun, it was very uncomfy, and I've heard a lot of really unsatisfied riders complain also about discomfort, including one coaster youtuber who broke a blood vessel in his leg after riding this. Sorry but this was not a painful goodbye. And I'm also twice as relieved because this ride replaced Scream Machine, an iconic ride that saved Great Adventure's attendance numbers in the 90's after the many disastrous incidents that potentially could have doomed this park. I would have voted to retrack and get new trains for Scream machine than replace it with some old mediocre stand up coaster from another park. Just my 2 cents on this.
I wish they could relocate the ride to somewhere like Michigan's Adventure or Valleyfair, too bad they are scrapping it. This may be hard to do, but if they could figure out how to relocate Kingda Ka, which I'm confident isn't happening, it could easily make the new location of the coaster a popular destination.
Why? Joker is new, compact, reliable and one of the parks most popular rides. Unlike Green Lantern which would only get a line if the park was very crowded.
@@jaydenchrist6152 Joker, and most of the free spins I've ridden (3) are boring. And that plot near the lake is beautiful and deserve a better coaster there. Again, it's my opinion and I'm sure that the GP loves it. Lantern received hate because the GP didn't know how to position themselves for a comfortable ride and GA never considered giving it better restraints.
This is all on you Colin. Earlier this year you said and I quote “ TT2 is the much better ride and I don’t really care about Ka as much anymore “. So your wish was granted. That’s why I always say be careful what you wish for.
Lol! That was neither a direct nor indirect quote. I believe he said he was surprised that he preferred TT2, but was still a big fan of Ka. I believe he felt Ka felt more unique and fit into the coaster landscape better now that it was the only one of its kind.

They're not starting instruction until April or May on the new coaster. I guarantee it.
Will this be relocated, like how it was from Chang
Nope, watch the video, you’ll see very clearly that this won’t happen
@ I don’t see demo like dueling dragons so I wasn’t sure
@@IronAnacondaMC Did you watch the video? Colin was literally showing us a pile of track that was torn and smashed.
R.I.P. Green Lantern😢
Damn, so sad!
Darien Lake could've used this too.
@markvolpe2305 Darien Lake definitely could've used this
Cedar Point is not playing!!! They want GA to be a staple in the northeast once again.
Bro. Seeing this makes ka’s demo way too hard to watch.
The track is like body parts
This is really sad.😢
I wonder how many people that are saying they won't renew their 2025 season pass are being serious
Plz safe the king 👑 😢
I know I'm in the minority but Joker should have been gone long before Lantern and Ka.
Highly agree
Yes
Kingda ka might be getting reimagined. (Don’t reply please)
Hate to break it to you, but the park has stated that it’s getting taken down, not reimagined.
@ no they didn’t
@@SAVEKINGDAKAdude,enough,face the facts,its being demolished.
@@Thatonerandomguy1331 nooooooooooooooooooo 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
@@mrpeach2023They never said they were taking it down, they said they were retiring it which can mean literally anything.
It’s a B and M shame it wasn’t relocated or sold I am sure someone would have bought it as b and m hold their own.
It was almost 30 and already relocated, it probably needed a major refurb if they wanted to do anything like that.
good photos for youtube clickbait
Rip, could of been reused I bet
This doesn't make sense. So many parks could have used this coaster.
I saw a comment saying an employee told their friend that Kingda Ka was getting a spike on another demo update video.
Its being removed, demolished. Simple as that, anything being said now is false rumors.
@@Thatonerandomguy1331keep in mind, they were told this info by a park employee.
If only
@@Thatonerandomguy1331no
Let it go man. It’s over.
Wow!!!! :'(
So painful to see
Sad
Boooooooo put it back
A little duct tape and some zip ties and it'll be good as new!
This is all on you Colin. Earlier this year you said and I quote “ TT2 is the much better ride and I don’t really care about Ka as much anymore “. So your wish was granted. That’s why I always say be careful what you wish for.
He did NOT say that😭. Terrible troll
Lol! That was neither a direct nor indirect quote. I believe he said he was surprised that he preferred TT2, but was still a big fan of Ka. I believe he felt Ka felt more unique and fit into the coaster landscape better now that it was the only one of its kind.
Woah early?
Dude Why The Hell Do you Care about a Non living Thing such as a Roller Coaster. Get Over It. It’s Called CHANGE! Part Of Life. The Old Gets Replaced With New! Deal with it. Good grief!
It's called sentimentality. Work on developing your human emotions and empathy and maybe you can learn to understand.
