Amazing how that engine mount bolt just slid right out for you...nobody I know in person or on my nineT discussions forums managed to do that without a major struggle!. Obviously that isn't the first time you did the bar install...so can you tell us how the first time was? Most people have a hard time even getting the nut off but I can't for the life of me pull that bolt out.
It was my first time with R9T :) Bolts came out easy, maybe because the bike was brand new. I add copper anti seize for future. I had trouble adding crash bars to my Super Tenere but BMW was easy.
@@gamotur doubt it would help if I can't get the oil all the way thru it, it's a long bolt. I'll let the dealer handle it when I take it in for the 500 mile service. This thing isn't quite as DIY as others claim, fighting me on literally everything I try to bolt on, getting wrong kits from after market sellers, conflicting fitment & wiring advice, etc. Apparently there was a bit of random changes on this year's Scrambler.
I got the bad experience for the same crash bar last month when my bike collapsed at stopping condition, the rear bar position touches the engine head cover slightly unbelievable! it caused right side rear head cover screw distorting and oil leaking happens. I think the reason is the gap between the bar and engine head cover is too much short at 1.5 cm only which can't provide enough buffer distance when bar impacted by bike collapses on the ground to touch the cover easily because of the steel elastic deformation even the bolts are in correct torque. That is why others brands crash bars (SW Motech, Rizoma, etc) made more space between bars and head cover than Wunderlich's, I think. Please pay attention on it bro.
In order to remove the head covers, you need to loosen the crash bars, otherwise it's hard to even remove the plastic spark plug cover. ua-cam.com/video/ZTJz1ML5MXw/v-deo.html

The space between the engine and crash bars is about 6-7 mm (1/4 inch) in the tightest place. You have to measure these head protectors but it can be tight.
@@gamotur Sorry, I know you answered torque questions 3 times already. I've sorted them out save the main crossbar (which is a M12). Is that a front bolt @ 100 Nm or a Center bolt @70 Nm? Appreciate it.
@@rwolfhaus1234 I torqued the main bolt/nut ( 2:05 ) to 100 Nm as a Haynes manual calls it "Front bolt/nut". But Wunderich manual says to torque M12 screw with nut up to 64 Nm. Like I say , I torque mine to 100 Nm. Just make sure to coat it with some anti seize.
Great instructional video thank you. I followed your advice & fitted them to my 2021 R nineT with no issues & the bars look fantastic & fit very well.
Thank You. Don't forget to 👍
Nice now for some nice fog lights on the new bars 👍
Stay tuned. 👍
Very nice video. Today I have installed motor guards from Motea. It worked absolutely identically. Many thanks!
Don't forget to 👍
Thank You
That looks really complete another good addition
Thank you 🤝
Thank you!
Do you know the torque settings as Wunderlich doesn't seem to have put that in the instructions?
Engine mountings:
Front frame:
Front bolt/nut 100 Nm
Center bolt/nut 70 Nm
Rear bolts 38 Nm
Rear Frame:
Upper Mounting bolts (M10) 38 Nm
Lower Mounting bolts (M12) 66 Nm
Rear bolt (M8) 19 Nm
( According to Haynes repair manual)
I just bought this bike that came with a carbon fiber engine pan. Do you know if these engine guard will fit with the engine pan. Thanks
I'm not sure. The distance between the Wunderlich Bars and the engine is about half an inch.

Why not blue tread lock instead of coper anti seize ? Just curious.
OEM bolts don't have it ,so just torque it to a spec. So far bolts didn't move.
Thread lock and age = you will never get it out again - anti seize and proper torque is much smarter.

Can the cylinder head covers be removed without removing the crash bars?

what the long upper bolts bolts together? engine? is it safe o undo it? :)
Yes, top bolt is holding the engine and it's safe to undo it because there is another screw at the top. Just follow the instructions at the video.
@@gamotur thanks, BTW is it really 100Nm for this bolt? e.g. sw-motech bars specs says 75 Nm

What’s the torx number you use to undo the original screws?
Ty
Thanks . The long bolt and two bottom bolts are T55 size socket. Don't forget to 👍👍 😉
Thank you for your super quick answer. I’ll get one today ;)
Hi forgive my ignorance .. What was the spray used ? Thanks
It's just compressed air to clean the thread
Thank you. I will be fitting my guards next weekend. Cheers
Concise and complete video. Thanks ! By the way, what is the brand of your paddock stand please ?
Thank you. The stand brand is PITBULL www.pit-bull.com/
May I ask the list of tools did you use for the installation? Thank you.
To remove old hardware you'll need: Torx T55 and 18mm socket. For Install 19mm socket, Hex 10, Hex 8. Good luck and thanks for watching.

I'm not sure, but as far as I know, BMW still uses the same engine on its 2021 models. So I think YES. Just check it when you order. 👍
