The HI-X65 benefits heaps with a little eq. It can go from a good headphone into a damn amazing one. I'd take it over a Focal Clear any day. Only thing the Clear does better is maybe overall build due to feeling more luxurious. But in terms of sound. Eq really brings out the technicalities the HI-X65 have. Clarity that matches the Focal Clear, detail that passes the Focal Clear, soundstage similar to the Clear but with better imaging and separation. Speed and transients on the level of the Focal Clear. It's crazy what a little eq can do
Many think that new ore more expensive models are better when in fact you have to stick with the ones you already know and spend time with couse there is always a learning curve
I know you hate them blasted closed back headphones, but once I was spoiled by the Beyer DT-770's "pure luxury" earpads, it been hard to wear anything else without whining about it.
James here - I have some 770’s at home and I really love them too! They’re my listening for pleasure headphones, as they’re so comfortable and sound fantastic. I prefer the extended bass response of a closed back headphones set. The opposite to Mark!
@@PresentDayProduction James! Thank You James! I’ve recently been on the fence about which pair of headphones to purchase: a pair of the wireless Austrian Audios for tracking or a pair of open back Beyers for mixing. Are the Austrian Audios linear enough to mix on? I’m sure Mark would say no because they are closed, but James maybe you have some insight. You guys are the best! Stay safe out there!
Open-back headphones in general are better suited to mixing. You’d have a more even response overall on an open-back system. But, it’s all about personal taste. If you can compensate for the higher bass response of a closed-back system, then there’s no reason why you wouldn’t be able to mix on those with enough practise to learn the sound of the headphones
Omg the cat at the end.....nice review, taking in to account that the beyerdynamic are half the prize of the Austrian audio that's a no brainer for me.
@@PresentDayProduction Maybe try the VSX. The headphones even without the software sound fantastic. I would really like a review by you guys if possible.
He find the Austrian Audio too trebly but uses the 880?!
That's absurd

You guys are on a roll! Also, a little spill never hurt anyone, so long as it is not a click track!
Yep, the last sentence put it well. Another 350€ and my family will either hate me, or send me to a shrink. Neither outcome is favourable^^.
Same reason i love my DT-880 pro...fluffy kittens on my ears :) Especially in summer i like em better than the Audeze

Best title so far, our transatlantic friends might not quite get it.
Pretty much all headphones have the cable on left side. The big print is good though. 😉
Slate VSX review please! I own and love them, but I'd love to hear an unbiased opinion from a real engineer!
Then you have toty Sennheiser HD 820. Sounds like open
Australian Audio, Ostrich Audio nice one lmao
The ending is purfect!
Australian Audio? I think not

Is it good for ASMR Recording Use ?? .... Million thanks 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
It is open backed, so the microphone will pick it up
Looks good for a serious spaceship commander.
If his is a DT990, he compares this closed headphone with the open AA. You can do that, but thats not informative or interestng
If you found these too prominent on HF, especially sibilants, never try the Sennheiser HD800s... :)
Mark I thought you liked cats? But using Flop Cat's fur for a comparison to velour 'aw come on dude!'
I would like to apply to be in the focus group that comes up with the catchy titles for your content.
Go for it - it’s always a challenge! 😂

I love this video
GOOD cat, thanks.
Great vid.. Thanks..
You should look into headphone plugins like the CLA room from waves and Sienna from Acustica etc..
We have looked into the Waves Abbey Road and Realphones plugins before… we didn’t really like it
