    Putting on a video as I get ready to sleep. This is perfect.

    A note about armor and sleeping.
    Heavy armor (Full Plate, Half Plate and Splint Mail) comes with an undercoat of Padded Armor.
    So a heavy armor character can still sleep in Padded Armor without buying an extra set of armor (and benefit from the Comfort trait and having at least some armor on in case of combat).
    Edit: To clarify, just wearing the Padded Armor doesn't not give you the benefits of the full heavy armor (that it's a part of). You're simply wearing just Padded Armor.

      Does this padded armor have the magical benefits of the full suit of armor?

      @yellowpetelol6417 3 роки тому

      @@Ixnatifual yes, but the heavy armor it belongs to can only be worn with this set of padded armor so that it's impossible to duplicate the effect of single runes

      @@yellowpetelol6417 nowhere written. You need to wear the full Armor for the Runes to be active not only a part of the Armor. So if you wear a Full Plate with Runes but you dont wear the Gauntlets being poart of that Armor you wont get the effect :O

    I’m falling in love with this game the more I watch your tutorials! A lot of these rules are based on common sense, like resting in armor _not_ being restful.

    I recently had an issue related to the fatigued condition, maybe you can help me. The party decided to stay up all night, trying to ambush a werewolf, but the monster attacked somewhere else and killed some innocent people. In the morning the party was fatigued, but decided to try to track the monster immediately. After some research on the rules I saw that Track has the Exploration trait, and as the Fatigued condition says Exploration activities are not possible, I decided that they failed to track the werewolf automatically, because they were really tired. But since then I'm really not sure if I did it right or not.

      Hey I had a similar thought when I first encountered this situation in my game, but you made the correct call by RAW.

    • @JonWaterfall

      By RAW that's right, but all exploration activities include searching and avoiding notice, which I would put a -2 penalty on rather than removing altogether.
      Imo, when a situation is dire enough then a night of lost sleep is the last of your worries.

      Yeah, one of the major thorns in my side about the Pathfinder rules in general is how often they say "you can't". They're really good at adding a penalty to most things, but when the rules state "you can't" do a certain action or activity, I don't get the explanation as to why they can't try.

    Nice! I've been patiently waiting for this one I suggested a few videos back! Good video as always.

    So during a prelude game that a friend and I spent learning the system, he had his champion pull an all nighter to keep watch, then stayed awake during the day RAW says he would be at least fatigued, but how would you handle pushing past that. Will saves to see if he can keep his eyes open, followed by fort saves to see if he gets some sort of increased fatigued status? Narratively saying he just falls asleep? What do y'all think?

    • @pxblade
      @pxblade 3 роки тому +3

      I think just applying the RAW here would dissuade most players. He cannot gain any HP, spells, or daily abilities back from resting. So it leaves him with reduced defense and only melee abilities while in combat and out of combat he is unable to do anything other then shuffle along travelling. That means he wouldn't be able to take watch during the second night since that is also an exploration activity technically. Champions often rely on focus spells and refocusing is an exploration activity, so once they've used their spells they would be tapped until they rest.

      Hmmm. You raise a good question. I would perhaps go for fatigue 2 on the third day after no rest and add one more step for every second day. Even a champion with a shield will feel that -2 or -3 to AC and all saves that's at play in every encounter for that day.

    I have a question about the ration thing:
    what about leshies? they don't need rations as they survive thought the sun, the earth or so.
    does that mean, that they still need to sleep? can they combine like the rest time with eating (like, if they are a a fungus)?
    and is the starving seperat or does it add the rules of starving to it`?

    How can my level 1 party recover their HPs if they get 1 hp back on a 8 hour rest? Would you just do a bunch of treat wounds?

    • @HowItsPlayed
      @HowItsPlayed  2 роки тому +6

      Treat wounds would be the most likely way. If you have a Paladin who can Lay on Hands, they can spam that every 10 minutes by using Refocus between each use.

      And potions/elixirs, since drinking them in battle is inefficient since it takes 2 actions.

    I'm kinda new to ttrpg in general but i've listened to a bunch of DnD podasts before DMing PF2e. And I don't get why long resting is so weak in this game. It feels unnecessary, because, like someone pointed out, you can just just Cure Wounds, or spam any other "free" healing spell/ability, so you end up with a long rest similar to DnD where you get all your HP, but you had to spend more of your precious playing time handling the tedious details. Maybe I'm missing something, but it feels to me like the developpers of PF2e made a mechanic more complex for no reason. Is there anything I'm missing here ?
    Edit : I love PF2e for many reasons, and I wouldn't switch to 5e. This is the only detail that bugs me, I'm not saying pathfinder is bad.

      Its to incentivise out of battle healing spells and potions. This is why spells like prayer of healing which is an out of battle spell is never cast in dnd 5e because long rest is so op.
