The NHL Playoffs are out of control #5

  • The NHL Playoffs brought another week of mayhem! We got Brad Marchand admitting to players trying to hurt each other, Paul Bissonnette questioning an official being on DraftKings, we got bone crushing hits from guys like Trouba and Zadorov, a kid crying in Carolina, Zadorov mock crying to Evander Kane, Paul Maurice angry on the bench, Jim Montgomery mocking diving players in what some are calling an embellishment epidemic. A fan was caught picking his nose, another was seen at the Oilers watch party with a VR headset and we had crazy close calls with Silovs and Martinook. We also got Evan Bouchard mocking Conor Garland for his height, we got Alberta beef on the ice and, with another 3 teams eliminated in the Hurricanes, Bruins and Avalanche we are now about halfway to the STANLEY CUP being lifted! Of course, a big theme that continued was questionable officiating that continues to drive fans, players and coaches crazy! I cover it all in todays NHL hockey video!

Official NHL Charging Rule (Rule 607)
“Charging is the action where a player takes more than two strides or travels an excessive distance to accelerate through a body check for the purpose of punishing the opponent. This includes skating or leaving one’s feet (jumping) into the opponent to deliver a check, accelerating through a check for the purpose of punishing the opponent, or skating a great distance for the purpose of delivering a check with excessive force.”

And don't bother responding again with some irrelevant factoid and pretending that's my argument. “People don’t want to say it, but, part of playoffs (ie: hockey) is trying to hurt every player on the other team, and the more guys you take out (ie: force to stop playing through injury), the more advantage your team has”. - Brad Marchand, Boston Bruins Captain, May, 2024. FINALLY, can we ALL stop saying, “He/I wasn’t trying to hurt the guy.”? OF COURSE they are trying to “hurt” each other. If you can legally RUN A PLAYER (who is playing the puck) THROUGH THE BOARDS, this is “hockey” (this is NOT basketball; it’s the complete opposite of basketball). If the player’s shoulder is dislocated on the player, that’s HIS problem, not yours. If the guy’s ribs are cracked, that’s HIS problem, not yours. If the opponent gets a deep thigh contusion that forces him out of the 3rd period, then, that’s HIS problem, not yours, and you have done your job, as a professional hockey player. This is 100% the truth of the game; it’s what makes it one of the more unique sports in the world. This is a physical game, and the damage caused by the physicality IS INTEGRAL to the root of the game. Players are injured, ON LEGAL PLAYS, all the time. It is the very nature of the sport. The greatest players of the sport are able to roll with it. For God’s sake, it is the only (significant) professional sport that ALLOWS “FIGHTING” in the game, without an automatic ejection! So, stop thinking this game is NOT about hurting each other, if it can be accomplished under the rules of legal play. You’re being a willfully ignorant child if anyone thinks otherwise.

The one for Peterson was a charge because he jump into him if he didn’t jump he would’ve been fine

Petey got a charging penalty because he jumped up. It would have been better to call it roughing or interference

Second goal on Anderson wouldn't happen if goalies went back to wearing goalie skates not player skates.

After seeing the commentary and the clips, florida was handed that series. Sure Boston wasn't playing great but that reffing was absolutely bullcrap

The NHL management is so corrupted..They wanted a game seven for the money and tried to do what ever they could to cause the Stars to lose that game.

as an avs fan i will admit the game should have ended on that overturned goal

Same here, only reason they let it stand was because it would suck for the end of the game to be an overturned call rather than a goal. I knew they'd score again after that.
