Doing my first oil change tomorrow. Thanks for the video! You made it so easy with all the steps.
Heck yeah man!! Great work!!
@@justinjames1719 no reason to ever pay for an oil or spark plug change. This video was awesome. It was so easy! Thanks again.
It’s not bad at all doing your own work!
It’s so expensive at the shop!
Great job bro, I’m very glad my video helped you out!!
Just wanted to say thanks for the video. Have a 17ar240, took it out for first time this season and one engine would not get over 6k rpms, other was fine. I watched your video, did oil, filters, plugs, fuel additive, and followed your video, went out tonight and both engines are now at 7500 rpms running perfect. Pretty sure you saved me a few hundred dollars and a lot of hassle hauling boat to dealer for service!
That’s great news, good to hear. It’s also great seeing people do their own maintenance on their equipment. It gets real expensive real quick at shops. Happy boating, you’ll love that boat!
Thanks
About to attempt this for the first time and your video was very helpful!
Awesome! Good luck bud, take your time and have fun!
Hope the video helps you out!
This was very helpful. You did an awesome job explaining the steps!
The 2x audio is hilarious sounding. Great video, thank you for sharing!
Get a on/off valve for the end of the hose to allow you to control the water on/off by yourself. It makes life easier. Good video. Thanks!
Nice video showing exactly how it’s done.
Really good video thanks! Sick mullet too!
SUPER HELPFUL! THANK YOU DUDE!
Great video. I do mine by myself most of the time so I have an on/off at the end of the hose so I can turn water off from inside boat. I imagine you ended up touching up the oil level after you got enough in the oil filters once the engines ran a while. I take an extra quart with me fist time out as water does a great job of leveling boat. I haven’t been changing my plugs every season, I have read arguments on both sides of that subject, but as you said might as well while you wait on oil to drain . Thx for video.
You’re awesome, thanks for you help!
God bless!
Super helpful!! Just followed all your steps and was good to go!
Awesome! Congrats, I’m glad it was helpful!! These boats are amazing, enjoy!
Great video man. Very professional. I just bought this same bought in 2019 model. Looks very easy to maintain.
Heck yes you’ll love it!
Very easy to maintain! I’m glad the video was helpful! Can’t wait for summer
Very informative video, I hope to one day have this same boat but this video helps me out because I have a 2019 WaveRunner FX Cruiser HO with the identical engine. Keep up the good work!
Heck yeah buddy, thank you, great boat you’ll love it!
Great video!
Nice work!
Great review! Not sure why anyone would pay a dealer to do this maintenance. So easy.
Thank you and absolutely it’s really not that bad
Awesome video...thank you
Great video bro. Thanks for the detail vid. Going too do mine today.
Thanks bud, good luck and let me know if you have any questions!!
Awesome video! Very detailed! Thank you! God bless!
Ps. You should do a video on winterizing :)
I never winterize mine it always stayed in my shop in above freezing temperature.
The only winterization I did was blow the water out of the motors put my batteries on the tinder filled my gas tank up and put blue marine stabil in it and then started my boat up once a month 15 seconds per motor just to get the cylinders lubed.
Thank you, great video...
Great Video! Where did you get the spark plug socket with the rubber?
Outstanding video Justin. Really appreciate you taking the time to make. I’m in my few months of owning a 2013 242 S Limited. My first jetBoat and we’ve had a blast with it. Just hit 100 hours and plan to change oil, plugs, and then inspect and grease impeller. Any tips or suggestions for impeller maintenance or landmines to look for? I feel like my starboard motor is a bit noisier than port, but maybe I’m over sensitive. Thanks again.
Thank you bud, greasing impeller is a pain in a$$ I’ve heard, have not done that yet. Soon though.
I would check impellers quite often, looking underneath at them and also reaching down clean out ports and feeling them. Any kind of imperfections in them can cause noises and vibrations. I’ll get back to you on the greasing of impeller shaft. Thank you.
Just we just bout the same boat! Super new to boat ownership so I really appreciate this! Could you also do a Winterization Video? Thanks brotha👏🏻
For winterization honestly, mine stays in my heated shop. So I just fill fuel to the top and add marine stabil additive, keep my batteries on tenders and start my motors once a month to keep cylinders lubed.
If I didn’t want to start boat every month I could fog the intake and cylinders but I’d rather just start it.
I also keep all my cushions hinged up and any filler cushions stored away in bags. Toilet is winterized and stored away too. My buttoned in gator step has been washed/scrubbed with dawn soap and stored also in bags.
@@justinjames1719 Do you recommend a particular fuel stabilizer?
@@Haunter131313 Yes the marine blue stabil or sea foam!
Very helpful video Justin, thanks man!! Local shop wanted to charge me $1k+ to do this exact work. Quick question, can you tell me the type of (or link to) pump you used to extract the oil? Thanks again!

Hey buddy, I’m glad the video was helpful, definitely miss my Yamaha! Let me know if you have anymore questions! Thanks for watching
what is that filter cylnder in engine compart? says commercial grade on it ... my 13" doesnt have that curious thanks
Great video. Thanks for posting!! What type of pump did you use to pull the old oil out/where did you get it?
Got it from WestMarine. 6 quart extraction pump. Believe it was about 80$.
Thanks for watching.
@@justinjames1719 Awesome, thank you!!
Great video thank you. Question Where did you purchase the tower speaker covers?
Thank you! Wetsounds website. Have a great day.
Great video man! Would this be the same method for a 2019 212x? Thanks!
Yes it would! Good luck any questions let me know!
Great video! How did u reset the “maintenance due” message
fahad al ghanim the settings button you hold it down until screen comes up
Let me know if this works for you
Is this your beginning of summer maintenance?
Thanks for the video. I have a 242 se. would recommend changing the oil in the fall or spring?
I do mine in spring so it’s fresh, fresh ready to go
Great video just quick question should you have put some anti seize on the plugs so they come out easily next time?
Yes absolutely you can do that I change mine out every year so I never have an issue.
No anti seize needed. The plugs are made of a material that won't seize to the threads in the head.
where do you get the pump?
Punch a hole in the oil filter with a hammer/nail (NOT a drill bit). Drastically reduces oil in the filter, hardly any mess whatsoever.
A poor family is going without spark plugs tonight.
Great video Justin! I’m picking one of these up tomorrow and have some questions. Is there a number or email I can contact you at?
Thanks bud, absolutely, you can email me at justin.10203@gmail.com or contact me through Diiiiiit! Garage Instagram! Congratulations by the way, you’re going to love it!
Have a 212X, same engines. Do you just order regular NGK plugs (LFR6A) from an automotive store or are these special plugs?
212 X Between 100-150$ on Amazon
You can buy it as a package or separately
Anyone can share torque specs on plugs and bolts
Thanks for the video. What is the purpose of having the hose attached if the purpose is to have no water in the motor during oil change?
It’s called running your boat on a fake lake.
You gotta warm up the oil before an oil change so it all comes out of the motor if you don’t have water running to your boat it will overheat and hurt the motor.
@@justinjames1719 awesome thanks for answering! Another quick question if you don’t mind. I recently purchased a 19 242x and there’s a switch to the left of the captains armrest (the groove above the ignition), No label indicating what it does. Any idea?
@@ABossIsTalking can you show me a picture?
Does the oil pump come with the boat? Or did you have to buy it separately? If so, where did you purchase it from?
Had to buy it separately.
Amazon or I bought mine at West Marine.
do you not want to put DI-Electric grease in spark plug boot,.,How about anti-sieze on your S/S plug into AN aluminum casting,.,?
If I don’t change my spark plugs every season I would but other than that no need to.
Where did you find this oil removal pump?
West Marine
Believe you can find them at any boat place.
Good luck to you any other questions let me know
Do these boats not have a drain plug? Is sucking it out the only way?
I’m sure they do have a drain plug but the most efficient and cleanest way is the dipstick sucking it out
Do you change the plugs every season?
Yes absolutely
Thanks
could you show how to lower the tower?
Yes will do
This next weekend sorry on the delay
Spark plugs require changing on a 2018?? Wow, it must really get used a lot!!!
Great video!
