  • I made this keychain tutorial for someone who has no idea what the Clovehitch or half hitch knot is. So I show you step-by-step exactly how to tie the knot for the first half of the video which is half of the design. If you already have mastered this not you can just skip through to see exactly how this design is made.
    You can find a macrame brush and High quality 100% cotton cord here v
    HolmMadeMacrame.com
    I would definitely recommend using high-quality 100% cotton cord versus using regular yarn. That is if you want to get this exact look.
    I am a young mother of two children so it’s kind of a struggle to not have their voices in my videos or have their hands come in once in a while ha ha my baby Vienna was with me when making this video the whole time so tons of editing has gone into this video! She actually knocked my camera over a few times LOL
    but I love sharing this art with others so I’m going to continue teaching macrame tutorials!
    I hope you enjoyed watching this video if you make this keychain please tag me in your story on Instagram @holmmademacrame I would love to see how yours turned out! Also if you tag @fiberartfamily you’ll have a chance to be featured on the page or in the stories!

    I am starting to learn macrame as a new hobby.....wanted to start with something small before attempting a wall hanging. I was thinking of giving up because everyone I watched didn't explain it enough, went to fast, and just didn't have that teaching touch. Like I said I almost gave up....I am happy that I found you...thanks for the lesson. Greatly appreciated.

    The 1st part of mine looked great and it got to making the 2nd part and I lost it, I slowed it down and even went back to the 1st part and the 2nd diamond didn't look good at all. I'm new to macrame but I think showing the second part and making that part slower would be beneficial.

    Very confusing. Do you use 4ft which you then fold in half to make 2ft, or cut 2ft at the beginning??

    • @shazi53
      @shazi53 3 роки тому +11

      😄What you need are three strings. Each one is 4ft long. So when you fold them in half, they are 2ft long.

      I’ve been doing macrame for many, many years.... I only looked at this video to find out the length of cord I needed since I can just look at it and know what knots I need to make. It was very confusing when she explained how to cut each length. She just should have said to cut 3 lengths of cord each 4’ long.

    Love this pattern and can understand because I’ve gone elsewhere to just learn half hitch knots and square knots. Really not good to just keep saying this one and that one. More directional terms would help such as numbering cords and then referring to filler cords vs. working cords would make soooo much more sense. Prepare us for what knot is happening: Now we are going to make 3 double half hitch knots down into the right. Also agree measuring methods are nonsense. I’m going to have to make my own guess on how much rope I want to use.

      @CHERRY CHERRY the bottom diamond is EXACTLY the same technique as the top diamond. That's why she goes fast...because she did the exact same thing in the first diamond. Once you get the hang of the different knots, you'll see that this is actually a really good video. I would recommend watching a few other videos from others with similar keyring. Also, doing a completely different project, like a hanging planter, may help you get a good grasp on the different knots used in this video.

    The measurement expanation at the begining? It is easier to say 3 cords 4ft then fold in half? Perhaps just me, but that confused me. Also, sorry, the kid noises in the background, I found personally very distracting. As were the notices put up at the bottom of the screen, explaining what the noises were! I thought they were instructions on how to do the pattern and which cord to use at first and stopped the video and what I was doing to read them. i think a separate video on how to do the knot, then this video how how to do this particular pattern would be better. Once the knot has been mastered, I just wanted to know how to do this pattern, but gave up as the long explanations on the knot and the kid noises gave me a headache. Sorry, but it is an honest opinion.

    How thick is the thread you used? I loved how it turned out! You gave me an idea for a friend's day gift! Thank you! Greeting from Argentina. (I am with the translator, I hope you understand what I am asking)

    Despite other’s comments, I thought your tutorial was explanatory and easy to follow. I just need to pick up speed as I keep re-making the same mistake. That’s on me, but I’ll get there. Thank you.. 😊

    Your hands are hidden alot of the time. Mine looks nothing like yours. Can't figure out what I"m doing wrong because I can't see your hands.
