I can at least overclock my i5 6600k in future and upgrade my card as well say in the next 3 years or so. While the i5 6500 won't overclock. Also there is not much of a difference between3gb vs 6gb
Hmm, from this vid I gathered; A 6GB 1060 gives an extra 2-3 fps, get a few degrees hotter, and somehow has higher CPU usage? I'll save the dollars and get the 3GB and increase SSD size I think. Thank you for the video btw, extremely well presented.
Ironically I found a crazy deal locally on an ex-display 6GB one, and cleaned it up myself to good as new, the 6GB is fantastic with every game, so I would expect similar performance for yourself :) I have an i5 7400 paired with mine, what processor are you pairing yours with? :)
If you play with 1080p or eventually 1440p then 3GB should run most games on High-Ultra over 60fps, but only with like medium anti aliasing, turned off hair works, high shaders. It might last for 1 year, maybe 2 with high-ultra in this reses and settings. But for 4K you 100% need 6gb, which should be good than.
Well optimized games run quite good even on a pretty bad PC(for example GTA V, you can run it on a potato with decent FPS). But when it's poorly optimized, it may run really bad on a very good PC(Mafia 3 or GTA IV). Good optimization = good performance
SAdverts_ you are like: i am looking to buy a VW Passat and then you say: "Buy a lamborghini!"... if i had money for lamborghini i wouldn't watch f**** VW Passat...
You haven't seen nothing... ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° ) I saw a video a few years ago of a person who bought a $5000 computer... 2 liquid cooled 980Ti's just to play Minecraft
Right now the smaller 1060 cards from EVGA are the most attractive to me for a mini-ITX build. The problem is that at the moment there's around an $80 - $100 price difference between the 3GB and 6GB versions. I Iive in Canada btw.
Pizza Do i got the 3gb 9 months ago but there is no problem with the card the problem is with me i always tell my self why I didn't get the 6 gb its keep bugging me lol
Its Tiger I watched a channel called Tech Deals comparing these two cards and he said that I if you want peace of mind about buying the extra performance then you should spend the extra money and get the 6GB version instead.
The 1060 is more than enough for 1080p gaming at 60 these days, unless the game itself is just poorly optimized. The 1070 is for higher resolution gaming and possibly 144hz @ 1080p. 1080 ti is obviously for the best performance possible at 144hz 1440p or just solid 4k @ 60fps.
Remember that the 3GB version also has slightly less cores (1154 something vs 1280), so it will perform very slightly worse from that alone regardless of the difference in VRAM.
Just to tell those of you who are scratching your head not knowing what to get and asking yourself if it’s worth the extra money for the 6 gb version, I had my experience with my gtx 1060 3gb version and I gotta say it’s a really amazing card, I’ve had it for almost a year now and I’ve loved the way it has performed. But if you’re one that wants to go all ultra, 3gb gives you your limits. Some games you can’t run it full 60 FPS, other games you can. But what I’m here to say is that there is also a limit for some games for example Ghost recon wildlands. With the 1060 3gb version you can’t go all ultra since it limits your VRAM and won’t allow you to. Same thing goes with gta V, that’s the reason why he tested it with very high settings since it can’t go over 3gb since his vram is limited.
watch dogs 2 isnt as bad because the game genuinely has a ton of shit going on and the tech is good. the optimization still isn't good tho. mafia 3 is just a joke, wtf
LyMa If you already build it. Sure... But a 7700 doesn't really belong with a 1060. Unless you're into video editing and that kind of stuff. I would buy the r5.
It's interesting that the 6GB version seemed to correlate with a slightly heavier CPU load in most of the games shown. It was especially obvious during the Tomb Raider test, but somehow reversed during the Fallout 4 test and the CPU loads seemed to average to about equal for the Mafia 3 test.
VigiGR well you can run all games that are out now and probably most games in the future maybe just tweak the graphic settings on the games in the future.
$50 dollars more for a card that can already get over 30+more fps in games when at ultra than the 3gb, and future proofing yourself? You think $50 isn't worth years of backup? I thought the same nonsense at first, got the 3gb played skyrim and it lagged ,and skipped all the way to drewy lane when mods were added, it simply doesn't have enough Vram. paid around $50 more for the 6gb and it CRUSHES the game with ease, no lag, no skips, its beautiful. Shit i learned my lesson when i bumped everything up on pubg and i was trying to "hide " in the grass but turns out the grass dissaperes if you bump down foliage 😂😂😂 the settings advantage lol
hello. I have a question. what is the version of windows 10 that you use and the resolution? because nvidia have many compatibility problems and drivers in windows 10. I bought one and the native resolutions do not work well for example
1st of all it's 50$. 2nd, 5fps? I hardly think so. Try using any reso bigger than 1080p, and you will see huge difference in fps, above 20+. Plus, upcoming game will require more VRAM, so 6gb will be very welcome to have.
narkar But what if u just play on 1080p and dont fucking care about Anti Aliasing and Texture Quality? The 3Gb version is better then for next 1 maybe 2 years
I never said anything about texture and AA, however many new games already require 3gb+. Also playing a game on lowest graphic is not so much of enjoyment for me. Dont get me wrong, 3GB is GREAT gpu, but getting 6GB one is future proof and will let you play longer, for only 50$.
narkar Ya but the problem is... im out of Budget and the 1060 3GB is much better than a 1050 Ti and in most Games just a bit slower than the 6GB. I dont play stuff Like Hitman or stuff that litteraly eat ur VRam so i think the 3GB version is enough for me. I dont really need Anti Aliasing or Anisotropic Filtering etc these 2 Settings cost alooot FPS :,D. I know 6 Gb is better for future Proof but the cheapest 1060 6gb has a pretty bad Cooling so u need to pay 280-300 for a good one and thats to much for me
This GPU is the PERFECT place holder for anybody who wants to build a system and knows the GTX 11 series is supposedly right around the corner such as myself. If your gaming at 1080P, this is the best Bang for Buck card you can buy. It's less than a 3rd or $100 dollars less when compared to its 6Gb version. Yes, its missing a few Cuda Cores and that's good on average for about 2-5 FPS. I JUST built a new system using this card as a place holder until the GTX 11 Series is released. Then i'm going to SLI two of them and upgrade my Display to the Acer Predator 35" Ultra Wide 3440X1440 Monitor. The rest of my build is more than ready for 2 GTX 11 series GPU's with an Intel i7 8700k CPU cooled by an NZXT Kraken X-62 AIO Liquid Cooler, 16Gb G-Skill Trident Z DDR4 3200 RGB Ram, 256Gb Western Digital Black Performance NVMe SSD M.2 Ultra Boot Drive with a Western Digital Black Performance 2 Terrabyte HDD for storage. Needless to say, there isn't a game i've thrown at this card where it didn't provide Stutter Free Gameplay with Butter Smooth 50-120 FPS in every game i've played so far.
Why, anything above 30fps only helps to reduce input lag, and since you're just watching a video, and not playing a game, it doesn't matter, since the human eye can't see more than 24fps anyway ;-)
I love it how people claim that information, maybe debunked back at 2013, and still see a major difference in the video with the quality at 60FPS, with either 720p or 1080p.
lmcgregoruk there was a study done last year that showed people could distinguish up to 220fps. it's impossible to say how much human eyes can see because we don't see in fps
If , you have nvidia card its easy , just go to nvidia control panel 3D settings - program settings - and chose Fallout 4 and set Vsync off and thats it :D
Attila Pataki damn but all I'm getting this for is to max out destiny and monhunt world the others can go medium for all I care, this is coming from an ex laptop pleb tho
Stefan - Oh, apologies. EU is different I guess. The way I see it, however, is if I get the 3gb version now for 150, I'll be spending another 150 (at LEAST) in a year or 2 but if I spend the 249.99 now, I'll have the card at least 3 years.
Only problem is that here 3gb goes for 250 and the 6gb for at least 380 is is just not worth the price difference i got a deal and got the 3gb for 200.
No one should play on Ultra settings with a 1060. In nearly every game the visual difference between high and ultra ist absolutely tiny and the performance impact is huge for the gained visual quality. If you play on medium/high settings with it the 3gb variant produces nearly identical fps to the 6gb variant. That's at least my conclusion after using both variants for the past years.
Now wait a minute. I have the same speaks on the left hand side, but I have a 7700k i7. My fallout doesn't even reach that over 80FPS. How did you get so?
All i play is 1080p games and cs:go so i think 1060 3gb will be good enough for me :D Did just sell my rx480 4gb for $350 and then bought a 1060 3gb for $265 :D great profitt
Definitely the i5 and the 1060 6gb. There's no need for a i7 if you're just gaming, but if you plan on streaming and something else that's heavy on the CPU, maybe the i7. The MAIN reason the 6gb 1060 is better than the 3gb version is future-proofing. You're pretty much investing in the future by buying the 6gb version, because games in the future will be taking more VRAM.
particularly in this case, it would have been nice to have a DRAM meter so that we know how much DRAM was being used in each game. I would father and say that I recommend turning this meter on in every game.
In Bf1, Wolfenstein 2 and PUBG, the 1060/3gb is helped along no end by 16gb of ram in dual channel, my Vram is pretty much always maxed out, but the real issues start when you see the game polling 9 plus gig of system ram
guys , 6gb vram version is for games like the witcher 3 or other games that need more vram to play with high graphics. but buying 3gb is a better choice i think :)
I have a question im upgrading 950gtx to 1060 3gb + i have core i 5 6400 and 8gb ram will this increase my fps because in pubg i have trash fps now with 950 pls reply + i have 350-400w power suply is this enought?
I'm in a situation that if I go with 3GB one I can afford 16GB ram but if I go with 6GB one I can afford only 8GB ram which one is better...I want to play some games like GTA V, COD etc.and I want a good allover performance which one is a better pick???
Go with the 16 gb ram situation, since the 6gb version isn’t such a huge difference having that extra ram will save you extra money in the future along with the 50-70 bucks you’ll save from buying the 3gb version anyway.
Look at the points people are missing. You dont need anymore than 3-4gb for 1080p gaming. Let alone gtx1080. People opt the 6gb to go with higher resolution of 1440p. If you're gaming on 1080p, the 1050ti can let you play 1080p on high on all games with average 60fps. So 3gb 1060 doesnt really serve any purpose unless you wanna go for ultra. 1060 isnt a decent upgrade to go over 1080p, neither it is worth for a starting gpu.
Siddhesh Parulekar ive been using 6gb gtx1060 for 2 years now. When i first bought it i thought i should go 3gb version of the gtx1060. But fearing what you said, i went with 6gb instead for that extra safety net. Truth been told, ive never did past that 3gb mark. Maybe a few, but barely. (And maybe i dont play games like mirrors edge and forza). Those are the 2 seemingly game that uses much more than 3gb of vram used. We've been having 4gb cards for a while now. By a while, i mean 6 years. People might think they need more, but the reality is 4gb would never get outdated on 1080p. With 2gb being the minimum. Not now, not 3 years later. I mean, there's only 2 million pixels. Newer games wouldnt have 4 million pixel on 1080p. It will never change no matter how much texture you want to apply. Vram only affects texture. Now its up to the developer how they optimize the game.
I've been waiting a long time (3 and a half months) for GPU prices to drop so I can buy a GTX 1070 for 400. But should I give up waiting and buy a GTX 1060 for the same price? Nvidia thinks the prices won't go down for a while longer.
I've been happy with my 1060 for the last year, but I wish I had at least got the 6gb version. Get the best you can afford, upgrading later will cost more in the long run and anyway prices could still go up as well as down Some of the smaller brands like Palit, Gainward or Zotac get good reviews but can be a lot cheaper compared to popular brands like MSI or EVGA. But that is if you can find any for sale.
What he said^ The 3gb card lags, skips, and crashes in memory heavy games! for example skyrim when I modded it the 3gb would lag, and crash. While the 6gb doesn't at all. Make the smart purchase, these people screaming the 3gb the 3gb are only doing it because that's what they bought. So many tests show the 3gb crawling at below 30 in games with max textures while the 6gb is over 60fps because of the ram. And you get a 5-15 fps boost by default anyway. its a no brainer man,
Will gtx 1060 3gb + Intel core i5 7400 w/ 16gb RAM cause stunners or 1 sec freezes on games with ultra settings 1080p, example COD WW2, BF1, The Witcher 3, Rise of the tomb rider, PUBG, GTA V etc.???
hmm i think i'll pick the most obvious winner. intel hd graphics
Jake Tyler u right man
I'm losing brain cells just by reading this. Obviously get a fuckin pentium 4 with integrated graphics.
LOL you guys are cracking me up
StuTTerBeatz what if someone thinks there not joking 😂
Jonathan Hardee. Then they must not know what a joke is lol
I recently bought i5 6600k, zotac gtx 1060 3gb, 8gb ddr4 ram and I can run all games on ultra settings, very happy with my build
Its a waste of money. I5 6500 + gtx 1060 6gb will be better
I can at least overclock my i5 6600k in future and upgrade my card as well say in the next 3 years or so. While the i5 6500 won't overclock. Also there is not much of a difference between3gb vs 6gb
i have a 4.6ghz clock on my I5 6600k its like a different cpu. and on your 1060 overclock the vram by 500mhz.
westyk52sparky I will give it a go pal. Thanks for the tips.
jason brody just bought gtx 1060 6gb i5-7600k 8gb ram. Waiting for it to arrive so excited.
The Kogsy hey i bought a 1060 3gb. But didnt play with i yet. You like it?
Ironically I found a crazy deal locally on an ex-display 6GB one, and cleaned it up myself to good as new, the 6GB is fantastic with every game, so I would expect similar performance for yourself :) I have an i5 7400 paired with mine, what processor are you pairing yours with? :)
Just Me you bought the kfa2 From amazon am i wright i bought it for 15 Euros
The Kogsy 6 GB is way better. Games are using too much VRAM
PackEP didnt you watch the video little to no differnce between 3gb and 6gb
100$ more for 5 fps? no tnx
Still not a good deal.. only if you want ultra textures in some games..
Димитър Георгиев just get the rx480. Better buy
Димитър Георгиев lol 3gb in 2017. Good luck with that one, always see more than 3gb on my 480
If you play with 1080p or eventually 1440p then 3GB should run most games on High-Ultra over 60fps, but only with like medium anti aliasing, turned off hair works, high shaders. Vertical 3gb is a waste. And won't even be supported in the future. Just get the 4gb rx480
mafia 3 35 FPS on GTX 1060? What a disgusting optimization.
Unity was at least a nice game(great stealth gameplay and nice animations imo) with poor optimization. In Mafia 3 the only good thing is music
Jose Manuel Alonso Rando sorry I am new but what do you mean by optimizations?
Well optimized games run quite good even on a pretty bad PC(for example GTA V, you can run it on a potato with decent FPS). But when it's poorly optimized, it may run really bad on a very good PC(Mafia 3 or GTA IV). Good optimization = good performance
Milky Way i cant run gta v for doodoo on my expensive custom built from 2013
brodie why's that? I was able to run it on my old build from 2006 believe it or not lol
gtx 1060 3gb is the best choice for full hd gaming and 1060 6gb gives much better performance with higher resolutions
ET 2K16 RX 480 with 4gb of vram is a better option than he 1060 3gb...
1060 6gb has more CUDA cores than the 1060 3gb, its not the same card.
I think 3gb wont be enough for the next years :/ alot of games already need like 5 gigs at 1080p
Lol thats some serious bullshit right there
ehhhh they don't need 5gb vram at 1080p haha
14:13 hello transformer
Davis1337 x
Davis1337 v
just get the 1060 3gb, Save money and upgrade in 1 - 2 years
Kyle Imus Ikr, by the time. New cheaper and better gpu will be available to consumer.
Kyle Imus i
Better buy 1070
SAdverts_ you are like: i am looking to buy a VW Passat and then you say: "Buy a lamborghini!"... if i had money for lamborghini i wouldn't watch f**** VW Passat...
Just got a i3 and a 3 gig 1060...Pretty happy with it
mafia 3 is the worst optimized game ever
mohamed teamphysix True i dont even know how come gamers dont get obsessed by it (Those shitty ass Graphics i am referring too BTW)...
One game: Ark Survival Envolved.
mohamed teamphysix than u didnt Played arma3
mohamed teamphysix you just offended watch dogs

I saw a video a few years ago of a person who bought a $5000 computer... 2 liquid cooled 980Ti's just to play Minecraft
well, i would :)
jk

(maybe with shaders)
oh plz... then why did he spand that much money???
No joking my friends build a 2000$pc and play overwatch and league of legends lol

Pizza Do lol i watched that video and it's totally true , he is great at explaining things tho he talks very slow
Its Tiger he makes videos that appeal to the general consumer instead of tech heads so that's why.
Awesome. This was i5 6600k. In the same video, can you please add i3 6100 as well pls??
Chetna Mehta bottlenecker, i6 7100 is better :^)
left screen i5 6600k & right screen i3 6100 . now did you understand??
Dassjon what's an i6?
pls check what i wrote.
Wasn't talking to you lol sorry if I replied to you...

I bought gtx 1090 to play Roblox. I am very happy.
Nitoiu Adrian-Ilie 3 you're only going to get around 30 fps, try buying a 4 Titan X you'll be able to at least get 40 fps on the lowest settings.
GuCci Boy i see. What about minesweeper in terms of fps and performance? No stutter issues?
Nice man, at 11:26 left upper corner is a user called "CPY". That means you have a cracked version of the game.
I’m going to be using the 1060 3gb as a makeshift card so I can wait until the 1080 ti is back in stock, without using intel integrated graphics lol.
Waiting for Volta And cannon lake lol there is a special place for you in hell, where you play COD with 23 unstable fps :D. JK
MD ZoRa wat but I’m not a console peasant.
Hi guys. I have an Titan video card and i7 7800 can i run San Andreas Samp at low ? Thx
TheTwinsBlade ~20 fps average
TheTwinsBlade even my iphone 5s can run that.
no, you need to upgrade to 9800 gt......
No. you need to wait for upgrade gtx 2090
TheTwinsBlade yeah you'll have to run at 144p x 240p tho
Nice video! i really enjoyed it
Mafia III and Watch Dogs 2 are such pieces of shit
Luis Miguel Pineda Carias shitty unoptimized games
watch dogs 2 isnt as bad because the game genuinely has a ton of shit going on and the tech is good. the optimization still isn't good tho.
mafia 3 is just a joke, wtf
Meh I think I will go with 1060 3gb. Should last me in high school for next two years, even if settings aren't on ultra. Good video. Liked :)
Is my pc build ok?
Video Card : GTX 1060 3gb
Processor: I7-7700
Hard drive: 1tb
SSD: 120gb
Power Supply: 500W 80 Plus
Windows 10
Memory: 16gb
buy i5 and gtx 1070
no dont listen to that guy get ryzen but u can get that i7 if you want to imo i wouldnt just get an r5 or r7
LyMa If you already build it. Sure... But a 7700 doesn't really belong with a 1060. Unless you're into video editing and that kind of stuff. I would buy the r5.
buy an i5 and get a better gpu want 600w psu
you recorded this gameplay with this system or with another system?
so there is a difference, its just very minor, not worth the extra $50.
Drakthiron That VRAM difference wont mean much if the difference is 1GB Or 2 it will mean if its 4-5GB
because BF1 isnt an AAA title you dumbass idiot
Drakthiron but is it worth BUYING a GTX 1060 3GB?
Drakthiron I will use emulators too much. I will go for 3GB but if I find a good deal I will get 6GB
its a little more future proof but you will buy a new one after 1-2 years
I just ordered a computer with a 1060 6GB, i5 6600k and DDR4 memory! I really hope it's gonna perform similar to what the vieo shows :D
Am i the only one that noticed the cpu was bottlenecking every game with a 6gb? It would be way more fps if the cpu was decent
yes they were both bottlenecking that cpu was trash BUT it wasnt affecting gpu performance they were still at a solid 99 percent
thx Jason , I was looking for a good gpu match for my i5 6600k
2:18 lol? 3 gb its better ? xd
Scientific explanation?
Late reply but it could be due to bottlenecking of the CPU on the GPU. Don't know if it is, but it could be why the 3gb is doing better.
Looks like the cpu is bottlenecking which only shows that the gpu is better, but incompatible with a older cpu
Yeah I thought so.
That little of a difference could just be a backround program he had running by accident.
What software did you use for the monitoring?
There is approximately no difference in fps but in price in my country is huge than 3 fps
It's interesting that the 6GB version seemed to correlate with a slightly heavier CPU load in most of the games shown.
It was especially obvious during the Tomb Raider test, but somehow reversed during the Fallout 4 test and the CPU loads seemed to average to about equal for the Mafia 3 test.
just save yourself $50 and get a gtx 1060 3gb.
are you sure ? i dont know yet 6gb is so expensive now.I have the money but its not worth it what i should buy :/
VigiGR go for the 3gb version all games need only 2 GB vram so it's best to save urself money so you can buy something else.
1 H0URMUS1C every one say that games will be use more vram from 2017 and more
VigiGR well you can run all games that are out now and probably most games in the future maybe just tweak the graphic settings on the games in the future.
I have to buy and better pcu and my monitor is vga fuck gaming is so expensive I hate it haha
Nice video!
Not worth the extra $50 when the time comes i will just turn textures down a bit
The 3gb isn't worth it. You will surely regret it with time, and that time will come.
LMAOO. Interesting.
Did you even read my comment and if you lower the textures stuttering wont be much of an issue and you wouldnt get lower fps like i said "when the time comes i will just turn the textures down" triggered much
Now in 2018 the 6gb is $150 more than the 3gb
So now the 3gb is a steal
David Boggs Well right now with the crypto craze the 3gb 1060 is like 100 bucks cheaper soo
$80 for 3 -5 fps? is not worth
I know 6 Gb is better for future Proof but the cheapest 1060 6gb has a pretty bad Cooling so u need to pay 280-300 for a good one and thats to much for me
Yes 1060 3gb is better choice than 1050 ti 4gb, VRAM is not most important. You are right, those mini 1060 6gb with small cooler are bad to get
Just a question. What was the resolution of the games when you benchmarked them?
It was 1920x1080, it says at the start of every benchmark.
8:22 LOL?
CPU Bottleneck, look at the 6gb version, CPU usage is 100% and the 3gb shows 88%, this comparasion isn't accurate
Needless to say, there isn't a game i've thrown at this card where it didn't provide Stutter Free Gameplay with Butter Smooth 50-120 FPS in every game i've played so far.
but NVIDIA says Geforce RTX20 series will be available in autumn 2018.
sucks the vid ain't 60fps
Why, anything above 30fps only helps to reduce input lag, and since you're just watching a video, and not playing a game, it doesn't matter, since the human eye can't see more than 24fps anyway ;-)
I love it how people claim that information, maybe debunked back at 2013, and still see a major difference in the video with the quality at 60FPS, with either 720p or 1080p.
lmcgregoruk actually that's not true. The human eye doesn't see in frames
Faisal GH You can only really see 60 fps if you have motion blur on, on some games
lmcgregoruk there was a study done last year that showed people could distinguish up to 220fps. it's impossible to say how much human eyes can see because we don't see in fps
With what for a programm have you capture this games?
Hi guys. I have an Titan video card and i7 7800 can i wach youtube videos in hd? Thx
tomas petkevicius only 1x0.5p at a nice 12 fps
nice video :D ... but how did you unlock fps for fallout 4?
+Silvio Drvenkar Google it, long to write
ok tnx
If , you have nvidia card its easy , just go to nvidia control panel 3D settings - program settings - and chose Fallout 4 and set Vsync off and thats it :D
will try thank you very much
8:20 this cpu is too weak for 1060 6Gb, i'll wait for rayzen )))
Discoboy318 Wtf ? Nvdia tested gtx 1080 with this cpu ?
Discoboy318 the game is just very cpu intensive it's not the card
Discoboy318 but you should wait for Ryzen xD
Ryzen is atleast $100 more, and overclocked at about 4.2 (it's a K cpu, don't see why not to overclock it) it will run fine
Discoboy318 i love it how 3gb runs gta and fallout 4 with more fps than the 6gb one :D
AMAZING! the 3gb was actually doing better than the 6gb at some parts!
i have a i3-4130, 8 GB HyperX, and a gigabyte PCI-universal motherboard. Will I be able to run all games on high or ultra if I buy
a GTX 1060 3GB?
Som Tambe No! That I3 will bottleneck the gpu
but what is the maximum setting on which I will be able to run these games at best performance smoothly?
Som Tambe medium 1080p on the heavy games is recommended
Som Tambe i bought the i3 6100 with this card and the stuttering in open world game is fucking real i am upgrading to i5 6600 now.
Som Tambe i3 is not enough for 1060 if u use i3 u will have a performance of 1050ti
This video was so weird to watch lol. But good video!
Will 3gb vram be enough for the next 2 years on 1080p?
yes man
cedars gaming yes
but get a 6 gb more better
maybe--- but some games already require more if you want max settings
Attila Pataki damn but all I'm getting this for is to max out destiny and monhunt world the others can go medium for all I care, this is coming from an ex laptop pleb tho
I'm getting an i7 6700k, 1060 6gb with 16gb RAM. 1TB plus 500GB. This should run amazingly.
soo in reality your better off saving 200 bucks and going with the 3gb.....
DroidTastic - erm, no. There's not a 200 dollar price difference between the two.
Jesse LZ i literally saved 150 bucks by buying the 3 gigs version, in eastern European countries gpu prices are a joke.
Verovatno si iz Srbije i kako te sluzi 3gb verzija? Ja sad trebam da uzmem i5 8400 i gtx 1060 3gb pa zelim da znam kako ti rade igrice i ta sranja?
1060 6gb Zotac or MSI or Gigabyte or Asus ??
1060 3gb Zotac or MSI or Gigabyte or Asus ??
my cpu is i5-7600 ,is it enough to handle the 6gb one ?
SORRY IM NOT THAT GOOD IN COMPUTERS !
Sol Diab more than enough
your cpu can handle any single graphics card so the 1060 6gb aswell mate
Sol Diab more than enough
what about the i5-7400
zZoKo yes also
Good so it's not too much on most games just bought a 1060 3gb for 190, better choice than a $150 1050ti right?
so gtx 1060 3 go and 6 go are pratucally the same ?
next year it will change.... also it depends if you have a 1440p and dont want to go for 1070 then the gtx 1060 6G is a good entry level for that
Attila Pataki i want gtx 1060 3go
Khiar Fethia yes
if you gaming on above 1080p 6gb is way to go.
No
No one should play on Ultra settings with a 1060.
How did you get so?
did the recording software bring down the fps by much or no?
Wow. I didn't expect watch dogs 2 running on ultra. Only got 32-45 fps. Is that too low? For a 300$ vga card
Are you using dual channel mode for ram?
Those are the fps while you record the games, but without recording there are more fps?
All i play is 1080p games and cs:go so i think 1060 3gb will be good enough for me :D
Did just sell my rx480 4gb for $350 and then bought a 1060 3gb for $265 :D great profitt
I have a rx480 8gb plugged in to my build currently with an i5-4590 but I still have my 1060 3gb boxed. Would it be worth going back to that card?
I have a question. I'm in a situation where i can choose a gtx 1060 3gb with an i7-7700hq or a gtx 1060 6gb with an i5-6300hq.
Which should i pick?
Definitely the i5 and the 1060 6gb. There's no need for a i7 if you're just gaming, but if you plan on streaming and something else that's heavy on the CPU, maybe the i7. The MAIN reason the 6gb 1060 is better than the 3gb version is future-proofing. You're pretty much investing in the future by buying the 6gb version, because games in the future will be taking more VRAM.
Allan Rasul a $300 cpu with a $250 gpu? No. A 1060 doesn't belong with anything more than a i5/r5
The 6GB one ran almost everything on a higher temperature than the 3GB one. Is there a specific reason for that?
Probably because the cooling is the same, but the 3GB version runs with a core disabled or on lower speed.
How is your gpu usage 100%? My gpu usage is mostly 30-40
Made my decision thx I'm buying the 3 gig one cuz I don't need more
Is it possible to do the same test in games like Shadow Of Mordor, Black Ops 3, ARK? To see how the FPS lacks vram
particularly in this case, it would have been nice to have a DRAM meter so that we know how much DRAM was being used in each game. I would father and say that I recommend turning this meter on in every game.
6gb may not be making difference in gaming, but it sure does in mining, video editing, and overall working on pc
In Bf1, Wolfenstein 2 and PUBG, the 1060/3gb is helped along no end by 16gb of ram in dual channel, my Vram is pretty much always maxed out, but the real issues start when you see the game polling 9 plus gig of system ram
there is laptop or desktop ? thanks. i have 3gb laptop vram gtx1060
did you shoot this with a capture card
this ram ,its with system, or just for game ?
Cpu is OC in the video right?
so surprising that the performance boost by the 6gb version is minimal, it even runs hotter but i guess thats down to the model and brand of the card.
i5 7400+gtx 1060 3gb (palit)+8gb ddr4 ram+1tb is the best setup for me
Ur monitor affects the fps i think so plz tell us which 1 u gots
guys , 6gb vram version is for games like the witcher 3 or other games that need more vram to play with high graphics. but buying 3gb is a better choice i think :)
QUEM REPAROU NO GARGALO DA 1060 3GB NO WD2?
I wanna play GTA V on an 144Hz Monitor , does the 6gb or the 3gb have better performance or is it the same ?
Очень странно... Сравнивать две видеокарты, которые отличаются только объёмом памяти и не показать в MSI Afterburner загрузку той самой GPU memory)))
I have a question im upgrading 950gtx to 1060 3gb + i have core i 5 6400 and 8gb ram will this increase my fps because in pubg i have trash fps now with 950 pls reply + i have 350-400w power suply is this enought?
I'm in a situation that if I go with 3GB one I can afford 16GB ram but if I go with 6GB one I can afford only 8GB ram which one is better...I want to play some games like GTA V, COD etc.and I want a good allover performance which one is a better pick???
gtx 1060 3gb because you will not be playing very demanding games on video memory
Get the best you can afford, upgrading later will cost more in the long run and anyway prices could still go up as well as down
Some of the smaller brands like Palit, Gainward or Zotac get good reviews but can be a lot cheaper compared to popular brands like MSI or EVGA. But that is if you can find any for sale.
When you hit that 3GB limit the fps tanks. 6GB should allow you to use better textures with little impact on performance.
I need some help. Im going to buy a new pc but what should I choose. Ryzen 3 1300 with gtx 1060 6gb or i5 with 1060 3 gb???
What he said^ The 3gb card lags, skips, and crashes in memory heavy games! for example skyrim when I modded it the 3gb would lag, and crash. While the 6gb doesn't at all. Make the smart purchase, these people screaming the 3gb the 3gb are only doing it because that's what they bought. So many tests show the 3gb crawling at below 30 in games with max textures while the 6gb is over 60fps because of the ram. And you get a 5-15 fps boost by default anyway. its a no brainer man,
Is gtx 1060 3Gb better for 2 years ago?
do you mind to tell me the exact model of these 2 cards?
Poland here nice films
Я что то не понял, или ты реально не включил мониторинг VRAM?
как прога называется с помощью которой тестировали?
i am getting the 1060 6gb but, should i get the r5 1600 or the i5 8500?
Tnx
Will gtx 1060 3gb + Intel core i5 7400 w/ 16gb RAM cause stunners or 1 sec freezes on games with ultra settings 1080p, example COD WW2, BF1, The Witcher 3, Rise of the tomb rider, PUBG, GTA V etc.???
Andrew Emperor i don't thing so i have the same cpu and gpu with 8gb ram. I run gta 5,wither 3 and cod:bo3 on very high with no stutter
I doubt that you can run pubg ultra smoothly tho
Now they give simular performance because this days games dont requare over 3-4 gb. But during next few years 6 gb would be so much better choice
Saw no visual difference. Only a 5fps difference. I’m glad I have the 1060 3gb
Does manually overclocking a gtx 1060 3gb bring it closer to gtx 1060 6gb version in terms of performance?
Yeah
There is no point in getting the 6gb. The 3gb, which i have, runs vames perfectly fine and is £50 cheaper.
What were the marks used in the tests?
